A lot of people say that of the 3 original Nicktoons, Ren & Stimpy were the odd one out on virtue of being edgier than the cutesy slice-of-life toons that acompanied it. I understand where they're coming from, but honestly I see it as Rugrats being the middle ground between Doug and Ren & Stimpy - a cute slice of life show with relatable kid protagonists like Doug, but one that like R&S wasn't afraid to delve into unsettling imagery or gross-out humour. Though those latter similarities did get neutered once the show got uncancelled, and it never went as extreme as R&S in the first place, so I can still see why people think of R&S as the odd one out.

I often see people bring up Sonic R as proof that "a Sonic footracer could never work!" - even though Sonic R, gameplay and mechanics wise, isn't a foot racer as much as a kart racer where everyone is animated running.

If I was making a Mario game, a multiplayer spin-off specifically, I'd only do it if Ninty gave me free range over characters from Mario's entire history (excluding characters owned by outside sources like Geno and Oogtar) - otherwise I'd just go to Activision or Sega and say "hey, you wanna put Crash/Sonic in this?"

I think I could work with mandates for a platformer though.

When I first heard this song I was surprised it came from a 1994 game. It sounds extremely early 2000s. Despite being a 7 second loop I think it'd work really well in Smash.

IMO there are only two Smash fighters who truly need revamps. Sonic and Min Min. Everyone else can be fixed up with some good old fashioned balancing. Game accuracy is a completely irrelevant factor to design and nowhere near a reason to revamp a fighter 100%.

I decided to create a roster of SSBU newcomers for an elaborate hypothetical scenario:

• Third parties have never been in Smash
• Ultimate has all existing 1P veterans newcomers and as many 1P newcomers as there are known 3Ps as of CP10 (15 + 2 echoes)
• All the third parties in SSBU and prior are DLC, while all DLC 1Ps are base game.

Generally, I was biased tried to appeal to smaller fandoms, or even create new fandoms, while the real SSBU newcomers appealed to big fandoms - a few I'd likely opt to reveal with blog posts instead of CG trailers. both reasons are true Regular Waddle Dee and old Impa were partially chosen out of spite surprise factor only the crossed out text is true

I've been watching a lot of videos about the SuperMarioLogan drama - it's a fascinating Icarusian cautionary tale of getting too big for your own good, especially when your works deal with such a niche yet potentially controversial subject matter as Mario toys swearing.

The thing that really gets me is that he claims his videos aren't for kids to cover his back, but then has a merch store that sells back to school supplies and kid-sized shirts. He really wants the best of both worlds.

One thing I'm happy about with this Nick hype is that nobody I've seen thinks the IPs delegitimize the game. There's been memes, there's been a bit of joking with the idea of "Mr. Krabs' DI" or "Zuko losing the Plankton matchup", but overall everyone's on the same page that if a game with the Wii Fit Trainer and Duck Hunt Dog can be taken seriously, so can a game with Nigel Thornberry and the Powdered Toast Man.

I just put a message on someone's profile explaining that the problem with Smash's FE rep isn't that Nintendo are advertising a game but rather that they're advertising it in an intrusive manner - and they just deleted the post, didn't even respond.

The good of a proper competitive Nickelodeon platfighter:

• The first non-Smash platform fighter with an actual reconisable cast to be designed for competitive play
• A wide variety of characters old and new with unique worlds and abilities to draw from, some of whom have been passed down by generations for decades.
• Funny voice impression and George Lopez at 3AM memes
• A serious fighting game with a cartoon aesthetic, one of the first of its kind.

The bad:

• More terrible jokes about whatever 2000s Nick star has got into a scandal this week.

I like how the guy/gal/enby (assumedly the prior) who made the original "draw your favourite Nintendo character in this and nothing else" just wanted to get some free pr0nz, but almost everyone who drew it either did an eldritch abomination, a ridiculously ugly character, or a character who's already naked and has no weewee or veevee.
