I wouldn't say New SMB or Pokemon is Nintendo's "CoD/FIFA rehash series" - no, it's Yoshi's Island. People complain about Wario Land not getting any new games, but being a dead series with 5 legendary titles and 1 decent game is WAY better than being an ongoing, undying series with 1 absolute masterpiece, 1 decent game and truckloads of utter garbage.

These mock ups look absolutely beautiful, I would love to go somewhere like this... that being said, this is modern day quote-unquote "Atari", (there's like 5 companies called Atari) and judging by how poorly that new VCS is coming along, it's too good to be true. Shame too, a retro gaming themed hotel, decorated to fit its decade of inspiration's graphic design, sounds amazing.

Conclusion: I can't wait for this Defunctland episode.

I think the thing that surprised me the most about the Steve reveal was how many people were unfamiliar with Alex. I always assumed she was known by all as an iconic part of Minecraft lore just like Luigi to Mario or Tails to Sonic, but seems not.

People often wonder why Sonic-related discourse tends to be so toxic, but it's really not that surprising if you consider how most people in the 90s were first introduced to Sonic:

combine that lingering first impression of rude 'tude and tacking the competition head on with a series that's constantly shifting tone and gameplay to the point its main series could be considered to made up of 3 or 4 different series and you've got an absolute recipe for disaster.

My biggest worry about Steve was that his mining would make him better or worse on certain stages, but all terrain-specific mining really effects are the blocks, he still gets the same stream of iron; diamond and redstone on all stages.
