Got a very fun TOP SECRET stage planned for EAC tomorrow.
Someone vandalized the Wikipedia page of a certain commercial character (won't say who since if you checked the edit history you'd find my IP when I reverted the vandalism) to say they were animated by Nickelodeon, and I almost nominated them for NASB RTC before I checked the source.
I guess with the ASDF DriDim drama right now, I should mention that TomSka's modern content is actually really good.
I've probably said this before, but Rayman Legends is the best Smash story mode ever made, I will die on this hill.
They should put a "Hey kids, this is advertising!" disclaimer at the beginning of every Nintendo Direct.
SSBU sure has a lot of bad "7s" doesn't it? 7 frames of input lag, DLC character 7 being busted enough to ban, the whole Geno 7 conspiracy theory, and the game's big selling point just being a pitiful 7 characters.

I had a dream where I was looking on a 90s-era Rugrats fansite, and it got a new host that completely removed all the Rugrats content and replaced it with Micheal Jackson tributes and conspiracy posts about the "Aluminium Glasher", a cryptid that's literally just a guy in a parrot mascot costume made of aluminium who supposedly does vague bad things to children - then after that I went to watch an episode of Futurama which had BMO from Adventure Time as a guest character for some reason, and he started talking about the Aluminium Glasher.
Disney hate is justified, but it really confuses me that people act like Disney became a "bad company" (which is equivalent to saying "bad war" or "bad famine") overnight or they're a greater evil and Paramount/Comcast/Warner Bros/whatever is somehow better

I really love the idea of Smash adding some form of content that is explicitly anti-Nintendo or self-deprecating - like the Game Genie genie mascot as a fighter, a Genesis Does What Nintendon't stage, some kind of sweat reference with an MK fighter, or even just a more open representation of an embarrassing Nintendo moment like the Virtual Boy; CD-i; or weird 90s ads.
Me, working as a copywriter, when my spellchecker starts to suspect I'm forgetting to practice proper kerning with the word "FLICK" on purpose. (I FLICKED him)

Whenever I read people from outside this site talk about the toxic nature of Smash hype culture, they always have the right starting hypothesis - "Smash fans get overly excited for vague character reveal announcements and end up disappointed as a direct result of this, which then leads to cruel defensiveness from those who weren't disappointed" - but come the most inaccurate possible conclusion - "Poor baby Sakurai and his nasty 'fans' breathing down his neck UmU :-(((((".

I've been trying to clear the Board the Platforms with all fighters in Smash Remix, and it's funny how significantly harder it is to clear with JP DK than regular DK. Thought I just got lucky the first time until I looked up 64 DK on SSBWiki and found out his up B was buffed between the Japanese and international versions.

Movie credits where weapons or headwear owned by the characters just float in midair give me a very morbid vibe.
I don't think any one person will ever have a more "right place, right time" experience with a movie than I had with Wreck-It Ralph. I was 11 at the time, I was starting to get into Disney and Pixar movies after spending my early childhood as a Dreamworks kid, and I was huge into retro games - especially from the 80s - trying to get ahold of every retro game I possibly could, be it with original hardware (back when that was affordable), re-releases, fan projects, or piracy. You have no clue how validating it was for me to see the Konami Code and Pac-Man kill screen on the big screen at that age, even if those are now kinda cliche references.
The Namco Museum games have a really interesting legacy - they were aimed at the 80s kids who grew up on those games, got in the hands of 2000s kids who were introduced to Pac-Man through the Flash fan port by Neave and World games, and the newer generation took to a completely different set of games from what the 80s kids took to. Pole Position was popular enough to get a solo cartoon (not even part of one of the package shows that were common at the time), while Mappy was considered a flop that didn't even get any US home ports, but nowadays in the zoomers' reign of the internet PP is only brought up for a weird advert while Mappy is considered a timeless classic.

Have I ever mentioned (outside of the post I just deleted because I think this is a better way to word it) the meerkat craze of early 2010s UK? There was an insurance comparison ad about meerkats with Russian accents, and it was so popular that every single zoo in the UK had to advertise the prescence of the things; Birthday cards with meerkats on them filled shelves; there were tons of documentaries on TV; people got meerkat lawn gnomes; the ads' toys were sold on Ebay for hundreds; and the Neighborhood Watch signs got meerkats printed on them. They were everywhere.

Before anyone misinterprets this, I'm not saying these dark/adult elements are bad (though there are some here where I do think the adult elements were handed poorly), but rather than I find the culture around dark/adult moments in kids' media extremely obnoxious, and that a lot of media - especially that which is either on the obscure side, has an overly cute aesthetic, or predates the nostalgia range of the average internet user - can end up being reduced to those scenes alone in the public eye.
I really liked how the Mario Movie relegated all the Mario references to the Mario world and all the miscellaneous 80s Nintendo references to Brooklyn
