The names of the Where's My Water reskin spin-offs are so funny to me. Like, they could've easily called them "Where's Mickey's Water?" or "Where's Perry's Water?", but for some reason they went with "Where's My Mickey?" and "Where's My Perry?"??? Is this like the whole Roger Rabbit question mark thing where two apostrophes in a row are unmarketable?
People who don't like Sonic 1 have clearly never experienced the adrenaline rush of hopping straight through the Marble Zone act 2 block raft section and outrunning the lava geyser.
I feel like how teams ride bikes in DriDim is a case by case thing depending on which team and which vehicle is in use. Some bikes you'll get multiple of that are smaller than if a character rided alone, some might have sidecars, some are big enough that even the largest teams can share a ride; and on the other hand, some teams might be small enough to share bikes that other teams would have to split.
Wacky Races is 100% gonna be the shortest DriDim season, heh.

Why has no platform fighter implemented proper in-game stage striking and counterpicks yet? Like I get the simplistic stage striking system in PM since that's based on an existing menu engine, but I don't get why Rivals and Slap use that same system instead of letting players automate the RPS and force controller swaps.

In a bit of an AI meme mood today
Even if we're to say that being "grateful" for a nearly £100 game is reasonable, I don't get why people use "he got us Sora!" as proof that we should be "grateful" for Smash and Sakurai. Not only was Sora an extremely easy get by Sakurai's own admission, but he was also an extremely divisive character beforehand - for as many people were on board, just as many weren't.

I feel like my problem with the direction Sonic seems to be going in post-Frontiers is less that they're going in a direction I disagree with and more that they're going in a direction at all - like, look at a character like Batman or Mickey Mouse. The Dark Knight can coexist with Lego Batman; the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse can coexist with Kingdom Hearts; I don't see why moody teen-angst Sonic can't coexist with snarky slapstick Sonic.
I like how in the intro to Sonic Christmas Blast, Robotnik blows up for no reason. Like there's no bomb or cannon pointed to his face, it just cuts from recycled footage of him talking to an explosion because there was an explosion in the original intro at that point.
Sometimes I wonder who the most popular character in DriDim is in-universe, like the one people associate with "tryhards" (even though characters are cosmetic in the game) and get lobbies packed with - it's probably either Goku, Darth Vader, or Sonic.

Since I bought up the Mario mandates yesterday, I guess I should say my current opinion - they're probably real, but not all of them are unjustified. If we're to believe they exist, the rules relating to character designs and cameos are unreasonable, but the ones relating to plot elements and tone are 100% justified. I don't think things like the weird sci-fi font, Horror Land losing the ketchup blood joke, or WarioWare games having less atmospheric levels are mandate things but rather (bad) artistic choices.
While I don't believe most of the stuff I used to say about the "Mario mandates" anymore, I will at least say that I do still believe that Ashley would be the perfect "floodgates" character to introduce spin-off characters to Mario multiplayer games.
- Already a fan favourite to die hard Mario fans
- Distinct theming that can be understood from a quick glance at the character design - spooky tracks and characters are already popular in Mario Kart.
- A non-clone female character, and a character who's the age of the target demographic.
- Unique personality that can be easily communicated through animations in a sports game
Y'all know that when the 2010s babies grow up, they'll be asking for the return of self-deprecating humour and redemption arcs, right?
