You're making a gaming crossover platfighter and have to design a stage to represent the Smash bros series
However, due to the principals of this specific game, you can't just port over a battlefield or final destination or what have you, it has to be a stage with a unique layout and referential backdrop.
My main problem with shrek 5 is that they've seemed to downplay or even downright remove his Filtrum
One thing I've always appreciated about shrek's style is that how it's realistic in subtle ways and seems to highlight the stuff on our bodies we downplay in animation for no good reason, like filtrums.
I've played Smash ultimate like a million times since launch and I don't really have a main and just play as everyone so it's really funny and weird going to the fighter stats and realizing I just for whatever reason never touch Wolf and Lucas in particular and have no idea why
Like
I'm not against them
I'm more against other characters I play more frequently
Why have I only played as them like 8 times each after like 7 years
To be honest I think the idea that real people/celebrities shouldn't be playable in fighting games or even other types of games based on the possibility they might turn out to be a bad person (to use the lightest words I can) is... rude?
I had a dream there was another sonic cartoon in the 90s where he was like, a traveling magicians apprentice and he loved to sing and he was voiced by a delightful old lady who game him a Bart Simpson-ish voice and his catchphrase was "now here comes the razzle-dazzle!"
Ysee I'm mad there's not weird games based on the mario and sonic movies that are like a weird blend between "wow this feels like mario/sonic" and "wow this is a licensed game made by a random d-tier studio that mostly made garfield games before this"
I'm shocked that even after the footage of it we saw, some people are still convinced Mario Kart 9 is gonna have Nintendo crossover characters
Maybe IM the crazy one, but i would've thought if Nintendo went the Smash Kart route it wouldn't still have the same rough roster balance of 8deluxe with 80% Mario 20% Other. It'd be the focus right? The balance would be more... balanced.
I also thought the wonder-esce art style would be enough for deconformation, they wouldn't make a wonder-styled link or captain falcon.
Again maybe I'm crazy but I think the Nintendo Kart ship has sunk, I don't think it's happening
I've only seen like 3 episodes of SpongeBob in my life, and the only way I survive this largely SpongeBob centric world we live in is through cultural osmosis and stuff.
For some reason like half the time when I wake up I freak out and just immediately assume I overslept by like 4 hours and my life is over cuz I overslept like 4 hours and then I check the time and it's completely fine and if anything I woke early
Shout out to YouTube channels that make fake bumpers and "coming up next" signs for cartoons and shows on the wrong channels you're doing the lord's work
Thank goodness Egg Pawn is playable in Sonic Racing Crossroads, more franchises need to prioritize including random playable enemies. They need to be so prominent that fans miss them when they're gone. This is the Shy Guy & Dry Bones effect, please create a massive fan base, egg pawn.
Posted this in a thread but I wanna say it here: I unironically wish Nintendo casually treated the Seattle Mariners as just another ip they own to reference in whatever, and that they still owned them.
Apparently they might be making a Jimmy Neutron sequel and I can't stop thinking about how funny it would be if they acted like Disney or DreamWorks and ignore the TV show continuity even though this is a pretty different case and most people view the show as the default jimmy neutron thing.
People act like Mario inviting Bowser to play sports with him is this insane canon breaking thing that needs actor theory or end of the timeline theory when the answer is quite simple
Bowser throws a fit when he doesn't get invited to things, this is established.
I've seen a few takes of fear that "oh no the switch 2 is just a better switch! Is this all Nintendo is going to be from now on? Just a series of better and better switches?"
I don't think so. To me, this is is less like New Super Mario Bros (we found a winning formula thats easy to develop!) and more like Mario Galaxy 2 (man we could do a lot more with this idea, let's do another one to get it out of our systems.)
Would any of you be interested in a Smashboards Creates thread where it's less about making a single game together and it's more like a "hypothetical game jam"
Every week or so there's a different prompt for a game, and you've gotta pitch a game based on that. Prompts can range from "a new Mario tennis" to "Atari smash bros" to "a whole new Zelda game" to "tetris with a twist" to "minecraft spinoff" to "
At the end of the week we vote on the best pitch and move on to the next thing
Trying a new niche weird roster building/alternate timeline game with smash, I've 100% randomly selected 12 smash characters to form a brand new "original 12".
Based on who has been selected, I will use them as a template for how to imagine what a game with this exact roster would be like. Genre, year of release, tone, development lore, all determined by these 12 characters.
I will then create a roster for a sequel to this game, making sure to keep in line with the rules I've determined the new original 12 follow. For example, if every character was a swordfighter, I'd stick to only adding swordfighters.
Here's the randomly selected new original 12:
Toon Link
Marth
Kazuya
Roy
Samus
Rosalina & Luma
Captain Falcon
Sheik
R.O.B.
Snake
Daisy
Mii Brawler
I'm gonna meditate on what this roster means for a bit, considering every last angle. But also let me know what angles you'd take! I'm curious.
Had a dream about a weird Mario racing game (that was distinctly NOT kart) for the ps2, it was like I veered in a weird alternate universe. Might make a roster based on it. Tatanga was in it.
Every video I've seen on switch 2 game predictions is so boring. It's all just "there's gonna be a sequel to every game on switch actually".
Jeez that's gonna be a boring launch year, you need something a bit fresh. Be that a series that skipped switch or a new thing entirely. I get that you can't pitch a wholly original game in a 10 minute video but atleast show some courage and say something bold like "this is it guys, the year duck hunt comes back"
