Another question: I really suck (not quite a question, though). When I get eliminated after my two rounds, is there still opportunity to do free, friendly matches? I really just want to play people better than me and get some practice, I don't get to do that very often.

Sorry, haven't been to many tournaments. >_>

It sorta depends on how many TVs there are. All the TVs will be constantly in use by the tournament itself for the first few rounds, but as more people get eliminated you will get a chance to do friendlies. You could help this situation by bringing a TV yourself. ;) Anything not HD will do.

No problem buddy, I know how it is.
There should be a chance to do friendlies, just make sure to get out there and ask everyone to do friendlies!
Being shy won't get you practice.

IC's **** so ****ing hard in Bbrawl it's ridiculous. DDD got quite the **** though.

It's more like Jason had other stuff to do at REAL BRAWL/MELEE tournies, and I wanted to just meet some friends and make my money back in this jank.

We're doing pools right? I may not be able to make it to this anymore because my awesome professor decided to schedule 4 hours of makeup class on this day. It gets over at noon, so I was thinking maybe I could leave right after and get to this before singles bracket matches start, maybe even before doubles start (there will be doubles, right?). So do you think maybe you could just give me bottom seed if I can't make it to pools that way I can still be in the tourney?

Or maybe you could give me like a middle seed, because it wouldn't be fair for the top seeds to have to play me right away. Not that I'm super-pro or anything, but I am probably better than bottom seed, so it would suck to get top seed and then have to play me first found.

I don't think it's exactly fair to let that happen. What if I decided to show up late? Can I get a free first seed? What if others do? etc. etc.

If they don't play in pools, I find it difficult to see how someone would get in since they'd be taking someone else's spot who played pools.

*Dies inside*

I mean c'mon, really? There's ****ing TWO OF THEM?

I guess I can still go Ganon against Future since the matchup is so heavily in Ganon's favor, but something tells me Lain will be harder. Good thing ROB got buffed so much... but in reality, I'm just go gonna go Ganon, lol. Dtilt = stock, so Ganon practically has his own infinite against ICs.

Well, I'm not DECIDING to show up late, I just don't want to have to skip four hours of class; I hear class can be important. And I'm not asking for first seed. I asked for last seed, I just said it may be unfair to the first seeds if I'm last, though. Anyway, I can see why it wouldn't be fair to let me play if people are going to get eliminated from pools, but I just kind of figured there wouldn't be more than 64 people there. If there ARE going to be eliminations then maybe I can just quickly do my pools matches when I get there? I held off on starting the bracket before MI got to Kahoka; they didn't get there until like 6 or something and then immediately did pools and we still got done with the bracket before 11. I'll help you guys run things so the bracket goes quickly.

Actually, Milk, how long do we have the venue for, anyway? And are there going to be doubles? Also, if a ton of people show up what size bracket are you gonna use? 32, 48, 64?

LOL. Yeah.. this is St. Louis. hes getting a middle seed. Also, the bracket will be built 100% by Thinkaman, not by random.

So I don't even know what to say about this tournament. I like you and all Thinkaman, but this tournament is ******** and it makes me wish I was from a different region. You're lucky lain decided to come to this or the turnout would be like 10 people.

We had M2k and Lain interested in coming to this! When they go to a tournament, everyone goes. This could have easily been a HUGE tournament. St Louis is in the middle of Midwest east and west, and we could have gotten the best players from both sides to come. This tournament could have been so awesome. I understand you want to have a Bbrawl tournament, but when Lain and M2k are coming, you need to push Bbrawl over to a side event. That would make it a lot more popular anyway because all the top players would get to test it out (and they will probably like it).

Instead we have some janky Bbrawl tournament that no one besides locals has ever played (or cares to play) with a $30 entry fee. In addition, this is the tournament with a $250 pot bonus!! So suddenly when there is this HUGE pot, you decide to make it a Bbrawl tournement where all of your mains have been given extreme buffs. It seems very shady to me to play a game that YOU built and a $250 pot bonus tournement. If you win this it will make you look like a douche bag :p

I'll probably come just because lain is coming, but I will not be entering the Bbrawl tournament of principal (and because MK in nurfed) lol

Milk, the venue could have made SOOO much money from this tournament. Now it will be just slightly bigger than the usual locals.

The entry fee is $30????

I'll come, but I might not enter then. Unless the 30 bucks is for singles AND doubles, and it's all in one convenient fee.

Zoze your just mad cause you can't whorenado in BB.

You should be glad you live in a region where **** like that works well enough to begin with.

This is THINKAMANS(and milks) circuit he has been doing. He can do whatever he wants with it and no one had any objections to making the champ. a BB event when it was discussed.

Advice to Lain: don't play zoze, if he ever hits you hes just gonna glide under the stage for 8 minutes until he times you out like a *****.

Also WTF 30 dollars? nooooot payig that just for singles

He's gonna hit me and plank? That's awfully familiar to.... oh wait.. everyone I play.

The pot bonus and entry fee being used for Bbrawl is a little L.O.L.

@ asc It doesn't matter if you didn't choose to come late. It's still unfair to get a seed for not playing in pools. I appreciate you holding pools for me at Kahoka, but I kinda crashed my car on the way there so circumstances are a little different. There's nothing wrong with showing up late due to extenuating circumstances, but I've never seen someone get to skip pools into bracket.

I'm going all T.Link.

What does my skill level or play style have anything to do with Thinkaman ruining a potentially awesome tournament?

Also, I've played in 5 Ohio tournaments (including the circuit championships), Iowa twice, Kansas city twice... and I do just fine. I travel to other (much better) regions far more often than I come to st. louis. I've already played lain about 15 games. Most of them were at the circuit championships when i teamed with Overswarm.

I know you think the tornado is some crazy broken move against the ICs, but honestly, it's just because you don't know how to play against MK. Lain 3 stocks me every game. It doesn't matter how much I camp or tornado. Compared to other MKs in the midwest, I'm not very good at tornadoing or Dair camping. I'm better at spacing ftilts and fairs (which doesn't help much against the ICs). The ICs are one of my personal worst match ups. There are not many MKs worse at the ICs match up than me, except maybe Rob Gambino :p. And he still beats you every single game.

My placings are consistently better than yours in st. louis and in every other region you travel to (which isn't many).

Either way its kyles and milks tourney, if they want it to focus soley on Bbrawl than they can do that. Kyle put alot of time and energy into this **** so I think he deserves to call all the shots for this one.

I dont understand why you *****es just wont run your own tournament if this one is so bad? Personally, I dont care for balanced brawl at all , but im not gunna rip on the tourney the week of just to discourage the TO.
And this thread needs less e-***** measuring especially since i got the biggest ***** out of any of you EASILY

But everyone is so intimidating! >_< Also, at other tournaments I've been at, everyone just seems to know eachother, and I'm just some guy that doesn't know what he's doing... :urg:

And...wtf, 30 dollars!? Do I have to enter the tourney or can I just do friendlies?

I don't think there are going to be enough people in pools to even have eliminations. Pools are purely for seeding here. So if there aren't any eliminations, Andrew should be allowed to play in the tournament. I'm sure, being an elite player yourself, you would expect special treatment if you were in such a situation. Andrew isn't an elite player, but he is among friends in STL and is one of the best in his area.

Would your friends in Michigan bar you from participating in a tournament if you explained your situation, told them you'd be late, and proposed a couple different solutions? And how would you like it if your friends in Michigan DIDN'T let you enter their tournament because someone like Lee Martin waltzed in here and said "BTW everyone, I'm going to this tournament now. Don't make a special exception for Lain. We know he's your guys's friend and all, and you play with him all the time, and we know he's totally good enough to get a seed in bracket, but, uh...I'm Lee Martin (best Lucario in case you guys didn't know LOLOLOL). Because I'm a known player, my opinion counts for more, and so you should base your decisions on what I have to say and ignore your buddy Lain here."

tl:dr version : What do you care? You're going to win anyway.

Advice to Lain: don't play zoze, if he ever hits you hes just gonna glide under the stage for 8 minutes until he times you out like a *****.
So Zoze plays like Dphat? I've heard Dphat is good or something, so I'd take that as a compliment, Zoze.

1. A lot of people were planning to come to this solely because it was BBrawl, but couldn't because date.

2. The problem with making BBrawl a side, it's too similar to regular Brawl, so no one would want to pay to enter both, separating the crowd even farther.

3. A lot of people have play (and enjoyed) BBrawl, there's been a bonus pot since day one, and we've said it's BBrawl since day one, and no one has said anything really complaining until a week before the tournament. But now a week before the tourney, when everything is all set in place, seems everyone hates it. It's not that different then regular Brawl, honestly. Just better.

4. Might as well do it here, this will probably be my last Brawl event I organize/host. I'll keep playing just at a competitive level just to hang out. Everything past this, it's all Kyle.

Either way its kyles and milks tourney, if they want it to focus soley on Bbrawl than they can do that. Kyle put alot of time and energy into this **** so I think he deserves to call all the shots for this one.

I thought I posted this right after zoze posted, but apparently the tab never finished submitted and I walked away from my computer angry:

Sorry Zoze, but I have to respond to this.

This is problem #1: This is not my tourney. This is Kasura's tourney. He runs a series of fighting game tournaments called Aerial Rave. See how the title says "Aerial Rave"? See how the OP is by Milk!, who knows Kasura, and not me?

I had nothing to do with the venue, cost, or planning for this event. Kasura invited me to run the brackets and so forth for Smash, as I have at previous events he has run. I gave him my opinions multiple times on the cost, space, and TV logistics, including some opinions he probably didn't want to hear. However, at the end of the day this is his event. If he wants to charge a $20 venue fee, that's his stance.

Instead we have some janky Bbrawl tournament that no one besides locals has ever played (or cares to play) with a $30 entry fee. In addition, this is the tournament with a $250 pot bonus!! ...are you serious?

First, when did I ever say I was even entering?

Second, I've advertised this event to the top players in the Midwest, from Kansas to Michigan. (Including M2K) If this was all a big conspiracy on my part to make $250, it might just be the worst plot of all time.

I'm not even sure why I'm still typing. This is inane.

I don't think zozefup meant to rile up everyone and get everyone all pissed. He was just trying to show his disappointment/frustration that this tourney isn't going to be as big as it could/should be for 2 main reasons: bbrawl and costs.

Personally, I was pretty shocked/bummed when I heard it was balanced brawl. Nonetheless, I hoped for the best with this tournament. I was hoping people would give it a shot and bring a ton of talent to St. Louis, and I didn't want to hinder that especially knowing it is Milk/Thinkaman's tourney. After seeing not much was happening, I tried some advertising with seemingly no luck. It just sucks. I love St. Louis and am surprised a $300 bonus pot can't arouse much interest, including the locals.

Thinkaman- I know there's not a thing you can do about the costs. We're just bummed it's not bigger. Also, you better freaking enter the tourney. Someone needs to take down these IC, and you're half the reason there is a balanced brawl.

Milk- Dude, St. Louis tourneys did not exist until you stepped it up. You're always really helpful, offering housing, and you bring a positive atmosphere to smash. People don't hate you or say, "Milk does a terrible job, someone else should be doing things." I for one don't. I hope you stay just as involved if not more involved.

Cook should be allowed to participate. He has brought a lot to aerial raves, and a small delay on his part that can't be helped shouldn't exclude him from participating. WTF Lain complaining to the same man that stalled an ENTIRE TOURNAMENT for you. Cook participating isn't going to slow anything down or hurt anyone. You're right, most tourneys you're late and you're out of luck. Don't try and pull this crap when you yourself have sought mercy over the SAME situation, especially to the one who gave you mercy. Besides, we need all the participation we can get.

What's done is done, and we can't really change much now. We're probably still going to the tournament, and I look forward to playing smash and having a good time. I hope you guys feel the same way.

You do know we've never played right?

This has nothing to do with skill.

You play like this against EVERYONE and every tournament you go to your strat is to time people out.

Theres nothing else to post on the matter.

If we ever do have to play in a tournament Im forfeiting to you because I play this game to hae fun, which is aparently the opposite of why you play.

I wish we could, no one wants to hype it though cause it's BBrawl and it's 30$.

If it was at Ogre's, I'd complain and whine about it being 30$.

Considering it's at a convention center, and its HUGE, I don't mind.

PS:
Since everyone is complaining, I asked him now if he can drop it to 10$

I'm glad you and Corey are having my back.

I really hope no one says that stuff, I try hard when I run these things, as well as Kyle doing it. Considering I don't have a car, or a constant way of getting to these, I for one am proud I come to these at all. I really want to stay involved, bad, but I love Balanced Brawl, I enjoy it a lot more then regular Brawl. I like no chain throws (Though I don't get grabbed much.), I like no infinite, I like all the stuff it does, and if I could, I'd vote to make it tourney standard once it goes gold.

I am a big supporter of it, but it doesn't seem like it will ever get much of a scene around here, and those who don't enjoy it, I'm not bashing you in any way shape or form, you've got your reasons, and I completely 100% respect them and understand them. But it's my game of choice, and since it won't pick up, I'm gradually losing the will to play.

You have no idea how excited I was, to play Kyle in Falcon Ditto's, and just get him down to one stock, two matches in a row. That really meant something to me, that was the first time, in my Smash career, after leaving a tourney, I felt like I learned something, no, that I was improving. To get first hand compliments, during the game, that really made me feel like I was doing good. And considering it was in BBrawl, Kyle's own creation, that added to the enjoyment I had.

Now, unless something really drastic happens this weekend, this will be my last tourney I enter/organize. I really don't wanna' jump to this big of a decision, but after seeing this argument, and how it got over a few words said, I really don't want to be a part of it. The first few Aerial Raves were great; great attendance, great people, and overall great fun. Now it just seems...tedious, that people are just going to humor me, or themselves.

I'm going to still try to make it to Wills when I get a chance, and I'll still post here, I wanna' stay friends with you guys.

No you don't have to enter if you don't want.
Play friendlies all you'd like.
Look for me if you wanna' play, I'll announce who I am at the beginning of the tourney.

Don't sweat arguments like this one. Remember that only the loudest people in the room are heard. There are tons of people who are excited to come to this tourney who aren't posting because they have no need to. It's the people with complaints that will always post. Therefore, your perception of the situation is off. In reality, STL really appreciates all you have done and will hope you continue hosting tournies. I know I will.

is there melee or not"?
Probably not, doesn't seem like enough people are interested.

My mind is pretty set, but depending on how well this goes, we'll see about me staying around.

Milk, I wouldn't get so upset over ONE person complaining (Zoze is pretty much the only one, right?). Just hold off on any decisions until after the tourney; allow yourself the chance to have fun and change your mind.

That's what I'm going to do.

Is anyone else coming to my house Friday?

Aww man... I have to be serious.

Lol yeah, it's just me. I'm sorry Milk. You're tournaments are awesome and every definitely appreciates you putting them on. I get bored online so I start crap sometimes. The only thing I was frustrated with was the low turn out and lack of hype. Lots of regions were interested in coming to this, but they have no experience with Bbrawl, so they're not going to show. I'd just really like a chance to play against some of the best players in the Midwest without having to drive 8+ for a change.

And you're awesome future :) Don't take very much that I say online seriously. I'm kinda like OS in that regard. Usually if I talk trash about someone on the boards I'll throw the MM just to get people to LOL and make it memorable. I would enjoy getting some games in with you. I don't play nearly as campy as I used to. I just didn't know what my options were, so I ran away XD. You always bug me about spamming Whornado lol, so I thought you enjoyed trash talking and didn't take it seriously either.
