Apex Venue Evacuation: Apex Likely Canceled For Day, Brawl Possibly Cancelled

Apex 2015 is off to a difficult start this morning. After a fire alarm was pulled at the event, the venue was told to be evacuated by hotel staff. The Melee room was still running for a short time before the fire marshal also shut it down as well. The news does not unfortunately get any better however.

Apex update. One of the ballrooms had a part of it collapse during the storm, fire marshals are here possibly not deeming it safe.

Speaking with the Fire Marshals. Official word is the wiiu room is closed because of faulty support. Melee room is closed to be inspected.

Smash WiiU room is officially closed for the weekend which also includes FGC fighters. Melee room is closed as well today for inspection...

After inspection Melee ballroom could possibly open up again tomorrow. We're discussing running matches in hotel rooms until tomorrow.

After this weekend I'm definitely helping Apex crew get legal council against this hotel for approving rooms after the storm unofficially.

TLDR: Apex is at a halt. Both ballrooms closed. Everyone asked to return to rooms until further notice. Staff can't even get setups out.

The bad news does not even stop here unfortunately. There is also a possibility that Brawl may be cancellled, and that Apex day 1 may even be canceled all together:

Disaster at Apex. Structural building damage might force Brawl and S4 to cancel.

Considering the fact that the Fire Marshall deemed the venue status to be a complete wreck, that emergency exit pull might just have been a blessing in disguise.

I'm beyond livid, but don't misdirect the blame here. Thank the guy for exposing the abysmal venue for lying and the irresponsible management, and maybe even saving some lives in the process.
