It's a shame TL is identical to regular Link. i'd hoped that Toon Link would use his Deku Leaf to glide like Meta Knight/Pit/Charizard and have a Hammer (either WW or PH one) and stuff

I've been playing with Toon Link for a couple days now, and I've realized something important for everyone to note.

Toon Link is NOT a clone. There is one main reason for this statement:

ALL OF TOON LINK'S IMPORTANT MOVES, ARE THE UNIQUE ONES.

There, I said it. Yes, it's true. Toon Link's most used, important, and best moves are his Bair, Nair, Fair, and Up-smash. It just so happens that these are the unique moves to Toon Link. His F-smash is kinda slow, only used for killer potential later on, and his D-smash has completely different mechanics than Adult Link's.
Quote for truth.

Along with the reasons in the above quote, his arrows are also much slower, his spin attack (when used on the ground) holds opponents in the entire animation whereas Links simply pushes them away, and TL is also MUCH lighter that Link.

Toon Link is not a clone.. because of the quote that VVayfarer posted. The quote practically stole the words right out my mouth...

*sigh*
Again, Toon Link is not really a clone. He's Luigi-fied. Some of his moves are similar to Link, and some with Marth.
The point is to play differently in the first place. I, including many others, wanted him to have a unique Moveset from Wind Waker, but it doesn't really matter anymore. His Moveset now turned him top tier (even though I think I'll feel weird)

Basically, you said the aspects that make him "cloney". That's what a clone is: a character with similar moves that function differently. But again, it doesn't matter.

This has been said hundreds of times before. TL is not a clone. He's unique in almost every way from regular Link.

this dude obviously never tried toon link b4
Yeah that's definitely true. Has anyone else looked at my location?

And what I meant is, his SPECIAL MOVES are exactly the same. Plus the second part of my first post was just my idea. I don't consider him a clone because of that.

And WHAT are bair, nair and fair???

Why won't you use the Wii Freeloader like everyone else does? ^^

Again, you are wrong. His specials have differences compared to Link, be they minor or major.

And WHAT are bair, nair and fair???
Back air, Neutral air and Forward air.

Less cloney than Luigi.

One thing I immediately noticed with TL was that he was FREAKING FLOATY!

He jumps insanely high and his Up+B is even higher. It's insane!

He has insane recovery, that's for sure. And if you want to talk about why certain characters didn't get moves pertaining to their games, let's talk about why Link doesn't have a Midna....

I think the man gets the point now. He's not a clone. Doesn't need to be said by like 152161 different people.

Try actually playing him instead of looking at his skill-set to determine whether he's a clone. GB2 Melee

I completely agree that Toon Link plays differently than regular Link. But I think what Nexus_Of_Sanity's point was that all of the special B-Moves are similar looking. Kinda like Fox and Falco, although they play differenly they both have the same looking moves (to some degree).

I understand what the OP was getting at. I think it would be cool to see the hammer and deku leaf show up, giving him a MUCH different style and feel. Still, everyone here is right in saying that he's not a clone.
