There's another thread in here about what your favorite character is, but I want to know what character you think is the most effective at winning and just kicking butt. Also, which characters do you think are more geared for the casual gamer and don't have a lot of fighting depth to them (Ike, Metaknight) and which are more geared for the persistant brawler (Ganondorf, Snake)? I'm wanting to know this because I have some friends that play this game and they can never settle down with one character or another because they keep changing their minds as to which one they think is the best to destroy Pikachu with. :)

The best are Snake, Pikachu, G&W, Marth, MK, and maybe DDD(in my book at least); plus almost all other characters are viable for the win. You have to know the counters to characters, because even the best characters will get wrecked by some of the other characters. Plus it depends on your strategy and the strat. of your opponent.

For the casuals:

Ike, MetaKnight, Pit, and G&W

For the persistent:

Olimar, DeDeDe, Pikachu, Wario

The best (in no specific order)

Marth, Pikachu, Olimar, G&W, IC, Ike (sometimes) and Snake.

Well for being user friendly AND effective, I'd say wolf. Smash attacks allll day long. No skill and/or depth required. People who are good with snake are good with practice, he's simply an awkward character to use. As for persistent, I'd definitely say sonic. As a sonic main myself, I know he sucks. That's just a fact, but I think he's got a lot of untapped potential, after you get over the ENORMOUS learning curve.

Well, I find Lucario great at aerial combos.
As a matter of fact, I pulled one off on my friend today.
It consisted of much win.

But, I find Lucas to be the king, here.
He pulls off some pretty nice stuff.
