Hey I main Lucario and I'm wondering who would be the best secondary that can counter Lucario's weaknesses who's playstyle isn't too different from Lucario. (I'm fine if it's somewhat different though)

in my experience with lucario, the only characters that give me trouble are pikachu, dk and any others with ridiculous KO moves (thunder, dk's side b - neutral b) can both kill at around 70%. similar to lucario id say someone like ness. they both have incredible aerial games, can combo very well, strong projectiles. ness fares a little better against the likes of pikachu since absorbing thunder is just unfair and ness b-throw can kill pika at 100%, and ness is pretty difficult to approach for dk, he can juggle with pkthunder and dash-attack, f-air spam with thier huge priority to keep DK away

Luigi. Definitely. Check it out.

Of course, my secondary is Ganondorf. >,> Until I feel like learning Luigi.

I'd have to say marth, I guess. Marth and Lucario both have tipper FSmashs, so you'd be used to it very soon. Also, Marth can approach with Short hopped double Fairs, like Lucario. Or SH Fair>Nair combo for that matter. Tho their B moves are different, Marths stab-o-doom gets the job done with edge guarding, and Marth side b is a decent attack. Both have a counter as well... And both can juggle pretty well.

But that's just my opinion.

I second Marth and Pikachu. I play my Lucario defensively, so I have Marth in there as my strong offensive character. Pikachu may be light and can be kicked off the stage like a soccer ball but he can combo well and has pleanty of kill moves.

Just to elaborate, I second T.link just to improve my air game and projectile game tbh haha. ^.^

Though after reading all these post I might try your guy's choices, they seem fun!

And bloodhawk your sig makes me laugh so hard lmao.

i second PT(charizard) and falco. my reasons for falco were previously mentioned, but for PT i think charizards playstyle is alot more like a heavy lucario the way i see it, he has powerful attacks that work well even when he is fatigued

Yeah, I main Marth, since similar strategies apply, and I also do Falco, because of his laser, his aereals, and his combinations. Oh yeah, and I like Dx3 for 4-player FFA.

I would say the best secondary for someone is someone that has a completely different game. Playing with someone that approaches differently, kills differently, and racks up damage differently will make you tweak your lucario game more to counter those that counter lucarios play style.

Ya, but lucario has such a dynamic play style that it's hard to find a second that differentiates from him completely.

I mean that is what makes lucario so unique in the first place imo.

Try marth. He has a counter like lucario and spacing helps improve your attacks. His sword has about the same range as a lot of lucario's moves. He has no projectile so it will cause you to play differently which is good when you need to counter other characters who spam their projeciles.

Amen to that one! That's why I mained him and Lucario first, they nearly compliment each other's abilities, helps u practice with disjoints, fairs, and aereals chases, but also has a different feel, that's probably why I don't use AS as much as everyone else :p. Btw, even though I do have 2 admit Marth looks a wee bit "effeminate", he seems more stereotypical "Asiatic-prettyboy" IMO (no, I'm not gay, and no, I'm not a homophobe, man, u can't talk about Marth for long without running into gender/sexual orientation, lol).

yeah i don't see why pikachu. His whole game is sapmming thunderjolts and thunder
And QAC, and tilts, and smashes, and air priority, as well as dash attack, jabs, and tons of other bluff and mindgamez like circle-dashing.

But yeah, spamming works too if you can do it right.

Yep. Marths sexual orientation is as controversial as same-sex marriage.

Lucario is so awesome he needs no second.

But if you insist, I suggest Captain Falcon. Why? I like to punch and knee people. (That includes real life)

But for a serious second, I would go with Marth, playstyle is more or less the same.

Pikachu, PT, Jiggz. Just to stay with the trend. :bee:

Go around saying "I am the master of all the Pokemon in Brawl!" >_<

Edit: But seriously, choose either a character that plays the same or a character that is strong against a Lucario counterpick.

Personally I've been jumping around for a solid secondary. Its either Falco (first choice 2nd) Diddy (second choice 2nd) and newly Marth.
Everyday one of them is better then the others, then come next day and it changes.
So its always in flux.

Best secondary for a lucario main? Go with your second best.

I heard this guy Milln say that Luigi was a good secondary for a Lucario main to have and I was like, "that's crazy! crazy like a fox!"
