Blocking an Counter?

I was playing my coousin a few days ago. Diddy(me) vs Marth(my cousin). I dont know how this happened and the match was over 3mins, so i couldnt get a replay. I went up to him and did a filt and he just happened to counter. Then out of nowhere, i shielded and the counter did NOT hit me. Anyone else have this happen to them?

your attack had small enuff lag to allow for you to put up a shield before the counter hit you. Thats all

counter isn't a guaranteed hit. It's just like any other attack. Therefore, it has it's own hitbox, and can be shielded if you use a very fast attack. Maybe you got invincibility frames from an attack. I dunno, that's all i can think of.

I wouldn't count on being able to do it consistently though =p

didys ftilt is a good amount of speed so that u hit him and shielded the hit
