As you all know, Brawl is comming in 7 days, next weekend. I bought a Wii few days ago and trying to make sure my router and internet runs well for WiFi play. Obviously, this is my first Wii. Do I need to open router's port for WiFi play? I do manage to setup WiFi connect for shopping and weather forecast.

I didn't need to open up any ports on my router or even mess with it in any way to connect to Wi-Fi. Also, as that one guy said, "if you can run the weather forecast channel, you can play on Wi-Fi."

The big issue is actually connecting the Wii to your wireless access point. Since you've obv. done that, you don't need to worry. =D

It really depends on the router. Either way, opening the ports can't hurt (unless, of course, someone penetrates your firewall using those ports :p).

If you do want to open the ports and are new at this sort of thing, I recommend going HERE, click Guides, and then click Port Forwarding Guides by Router, and find your router and it shows you how to open your ports from there.

If your weather channel works, WiFi play will work just fine.

If only this ****ed Nintendo WIFI USB device would work in the dorms..

Since Nintendo is not really popular around here, my Wal-mart is full of Wiis.
Wiis are hard to find where I live. I tried to pick one up today (looked at a Target and a GameStop), but they were both out of stock and backordered for two weeks.
