How do you do it? I've been reading everywhere that it is the winning 'strategy', and I want to learn how to camp effectively. Which character is best? Please do not make this a Brawl Melee discussion... there are plenty of them already. I just wanna know how to win.

don't camp if you want to win, beating people who camp is really easy

I hate wolfs who laser spam. It totally destroyed my Diddy the first 2 matches but I got the hang of it afterwards and won. Then I got thrashed again lol.

Yep, basically camping is where one person sits in one place while others fight.. Or just sit in one place period. I hate campers, especially campers that constantly use projectiles(spamming). <_<

From pretty credible people, I have gathered that camping (and probably projectile spamming) is the best way to go. If this is true, then when I play Brawl I'll be sure to do that. Thanks for your help people.

um no thats what noobs do and if u play a good player they will own u for playing that way
Um. Who's to say that good players can't spam/camp well? Those who do have an advantage of forcing an opponent to go where he/she wants to, if they want to. That's one of the reasons why Toon Link has been taken notice by the majority of people. Not just for his Bair.

Intelligent spamming is a very strong strategy. Its about knowing when to close in, and when to sit back and throw projectiles to keep your opponent off balance.

Um no camping is really the only viable strategy because approaching usually doesn't give you any kind of benefit especially when you can just run away fire away projectiles or stay in place and do the same.

so to win you must take away the fun of playing?
Pretty much, that is why competitive players are upset. They can adapt to the changes and win in Brawl at a competitive level, but it is now no fun (to most of them).

Don't feed the troll, and if he's being serious he doesn't understand COMPETITIVE PLAY.

You don't have to camp if your opponent doesn't...

But good luck finding a Pit, Toon Link, or ROB player who doesn't just sit around spamming projectiles until you are open for a big ol' can of fsmash.

It IS the dominant strategy, no if and or buts about it.

Uh... I probably had more FUN at competitions with melee than I ever had with friendlies or casual play. The intensity, pros, and cool crap going on was awesome. Tournaments, serious ones, were fun. You didn't have to have an eight person bracket consisting of seven of your friends and yourself to have fun at a tourny.

Camping works sometimes but it can be figured out or made useless (better camper or not giving time to camp). I think that compination of camping and aproaching is the best strategy because you can damage enemy or force a high-damaged opponent to attack when camping and surprice them by suddenly rushing to attack.

Fun = subjective and flimsy term especially when you're trying to make a point. Thats what my point was, not competitive play isn't fun but using the term fun as a counter argument against competitive play was dumb.

despite what people think u can't camp in a fighting game u can spam but not camp
Why do you just keep demonstrating how little you understand about Smash?

Camping in Smash is the equivalent of turtling in any other fighting game. The reason it's called camping in Smash is because it's a free-form environment, so it's more akin to camping in an FPS than it is turtling in a fighting game.

Camping doesn't have to do anything with spamming projectiles.

I couldn't stop laughing at you.

Few characters have any kind of approach in brawl. Thus, most must camp in order to win. If you don't want to camp go play melee. Seriously, go play it.

My argument is more directed at people who think that there is nothing fun at competitions. They think everyone just yells at each other and stares at screens or something. Like button slamming zombies or something. This is, obviously, not true. Especially so when you have well-known players facing off in the finals or something.

The best Wolfs will be spamming lasers whenever you're outside their attacking range, and using reflector whenever you try to attack with anything slower than a jab or tilt.

Ok thank you for mocking me in an immature way and what else have I said that shows I know nothing about smash. Also I never understood why people call it camping when its turtling. I definetly see your point but its still way diffrent from camping in other games. But fine its clear everyone else calls it cammping ill just accept it.

Thanks for the informational video ixninjax. So I guess Pit, ROB, and Toon Link are the best for camping. Any other tips? Videos would be best.

remember at SAST 2 when forward was playing mango, and when forward and butters were playing mango and lucky? that was fun as hell. everyone was excited because it was some of AZ's best vs. some of SoCal's best. so, to all the other people, tournaments are really fun as corey as saying. its the environment that adds to the fun-ness of it, and the actual game playing is what brings everyone together.

so, to people saying competitive play and tuornaments aren't fun, stfu.

I don't even try to camp, it just comes naturally to me. I mean, I approach at certain times, so when it's not one of those times, I run away to prepare for the right time to strike. If you have a projectile, great, throw it into the match. But I usually lose against skilled players, so I dunno if it's much of a "winning strategy."
