Considering moving to the US in a few years time

Currently I live in Europe, but the Smash community really isn't big enough here to quench my taste for more Smashing. Thus, I thought I should move to the US.

So I ask you.... Which state should I move to? Which states are both awesome and have big and awesome tourney scenes?

I'd say California for big smash scenes, but I think your plan is pretty pathetic. Moving to a country because of a game is ridiculous.

I really would suggest NOT doing that.

..If you want to though, move somewhere on the coast. It's closer for one, and there are a good amount of tournies for it.

Again, it'd probably be best to stay put though. Economic troubles right now, etc.
Not sure about Europe though..

Move to Louisiana, its nice there. Personally, I don't think you should move just for Brawl.

I have a question regarding tourney hotspots.
How is D.C, just a rough idea would be nice

Well, not just a game actually. Sorry if my statements were misleading. I have other personal plans as well. And I was never a big fan of my own country anyway, way too many socialist over here.

I'm also interested in Melee tournies BTW, not just Brawl alone. As for the economy, I *hope* it has improved in a few years, otherwise I will have to delay moving.

I'll be honest with you. European smashers are garbage compared to US smashers.

Everything you ever heard about the US is true. Our Roads are made of gold, everyone lives forever and it doesn't matter where you are on the social ladder you still live extravagantly, because we don't pay taxes.

It's far better then those socialist nightmares you see in Europe.

Central Florida (dont go to Tampa, come to Orlando) and South Florida, California, and New York/New Jersey all have very good smash scenes.
I was gonna suggest NY/NJ based on my limited Smash tourney knowledge. Great players, large population of people, and it's easy to get around. NYC has the subway system, and lots of trains/buses going out to Jersey and Long Island and upstate NY.

And on top of that NYC is an awesome city. Just be prepared to have room mates as the cost of apartments here is expensive.

If you plan on living on the East Coast, maybe Connecticut or New Jersey, just because traveling distance isn't so bad to get to tournaments

Move to the Midwest. The Deep South isn't good for Europeans. Neither is the East Cost...

He said 'in a few years' time, so I assume he's not moving just for Brawl. I'm sure he's smart enough to figure out that moving for a game is a bad idea.

If you want a place with a lot of people, go for New York or California or something lol.

I personally would move to Montana because it's so nice and empty and peaceful there, but that's probably just me.

Md/Nova has a really good scene. We've had tournaments every single weekend since brawl came out and we all place pretty well...

NYC/Nj is good if you don't want to get a car.

How would east coast be bad for Europeans? It's the area most similar to Europe. My mom is from Romania and she is fine living here.

Well, one things for sure, don't move to West Virginia. Our Smash scene is terrible, and we have an extremely boring state. We're also in the Bible Belt, so you'll get these churches trying to convert you all the time.

If you're into Smash I'd go for Southern California or New Jersey.

If you want melee as well then your best bet by FAR would be California. They have melee tournaments there often as well as having the largest smash scene period.

Somewhere on the EC like NJ/NY or MD/VA would be good because of all the talent there. I personally don't like living like that though lol I hate all the traffic and subways :/.

If you want to move to the midwest, MI is your best bet.

Texas/Florida both have huge smash scenes as well. Texas is very cheap to live in to boot. Florida would be nice to live in I imagine though.

So basically, make sure it's one of these states: Cali, TX, FL, MD, VA, NY, NJ, MI.

The Dallas area of Texas hasn't been hit too hard by economic decline either. Companies around my city are still hiring and they're still building houses in Frisco, etc.

I would suggest Arizona or New Mexico. I might be wrong, but I think their economies are still doing pretty well, and that area has been expanding a lot in recent years. Also, I believe it's pretty neutral politically.

The south would probably be a huge culture shock, and if you're sick of socialism, california and new england aren't the way to go. Mid-west would probably be good too though, like Michigan as someone said
