For you game cube controller users do you use the default control scheme or do you change any of the buttons around? I'm thinking of changing mine but I'm guessing you'll have to use the default one for tournaments. Unless there are few enough people that it's so time consuming to have people change it every match.

Also what are the advantages to having certain button setups?

Well it all just depends on how comfortable you are and how you play with the controllers.
I use the classic controller, its not that diffrent then the gc controller.
I redid the button configurations because I dont feel like reaching all the way down from x to jump then the c stick to do a quicksmash.
But thats just me

I want to ask, do most people use "Tap up" to jump or do they use X/Y? What do the pros use? I've always wondered this because I have a hard time using an up attack (Not up smash) because I use up to jump, so when I hit up to do an up attack I have to continue to hold up after the jump.

Also, do most people use the Right Joystick/C stick to do smashes or do they just quick tap+A?

I'm pretty much a noob and trying to get better here, so please go easy on me if the answer is obvious.

L-Cancelling was possible with the R-Button in Melee, 2kuul.

Either way, the only time I ever pressed the L button was when I needed to get out of a match quickly. Besides that, I've never pressed it.

I'm just sticking with the default setting until someone discovers an workable alternate control scheme. [/lazy]

A lot of people turn tap jump off because it can screw up up tilts and uairs for lots of people, but it's really useful for characters that up B or up smash out of their shield, ie. Bowser, Samus. I use c-stick special 'cause it allows auto RARs. It might not be allowed in tournaments, but if it is, I'm sticking with it. It's still kinda' in debate.

Y'know, part of me isn't sure I've ever done an U-Tilt attack in my entire life as a Smasher...

OK, that's an exaggeration, but thanks to Tap Jumping I hardly ever do them. Hopefully that'll change now.

... I just got a good idea!

Can you set tilt attacks to the Cstick? I might try that...

It's not a good idea with tap jumps off if you like to play characters with up+b out of their shields or if you want to perform lagless stomps easily.
