I was playing SSE with friends other day and wonder why can't too other friends pick up controller and the game fit the clip scenes where Link, Kirby, Pit, and at least Mario are all battle at once (Yoshi left out). Could it not have been 4 player?

The better question is, could SSE not have sucked?

We should focus on sticking Nintendo in the hot spot for royally screwing SSE over, instead of worrying about multi-player.

not sure what you were expecting... brawl has obvious emphasis on multiplayer, or pure fighting.

Compare brawl to other multiplayer versus fighting games like street fighter/tekken/whatever and you'll find that classic mode is their relative equivalent of single player. SSE is just a bonus.

If you wanted a more in depth single player game then SSBB is not the game for you.

To answer the original question, SSE revolves around player 1. player 2 constantly teleports back to player 1 if he travels too far (except in certain situations like boss battles). As someone above already mentioned, it would be extremely hectic to have so many players all doing seperate things. It would also be much harder for Nintendo to balance the difficulty level.

if they had, it would have been like Kirby and the amazing mirror multiplayer. so the camera follows player 1, but he cant move forward if the other 3 aren't next to or near him

Imagine how terrible it would be for the side-scrolling parts? Not to mention that you couldn't have it be a 4 player game only part of the time. And bosses would get ***** easier.

It gets too crowded in two player, especialy playing with someone who's less than compitant -.- . I wouldn't touch four player SSE, It's strength lies in the fact it's one player. Infact, Two Player makes it too hectic, it was way easier to solo it than it was to go through it with a duo.

Course, I spose if all four players were actualy GOOD, then it might be diffrent...

I actually kinda liked SSE, up until the maze.
Four players would be too difficult, There are enough problems with just two people.
-The second player always teleporting can be annoying.
-Some of the levels obviously weren't built for more than one. Having two of the same characters just ruin the whole 'story' feel for me, and some stages in 2p require coordination to the point where it's not fun and you're not progressing due to the headaches involved.
-Not to mention there would need to be more lives for four people; nobody wants to die, wait ten minutes for the rest of your team to die, and then start over.

I'm not sure that 4 player SSE could work. While I lucked out to be First Player when I played co-op SSE, the constant teleporting of the second player got annoying. That and there would have to be more enemies with more health, and the bosses would have to have a significantly larger health pool for it to work.

Well, I think it would get really crowded, but I think that SSE really isn't that great. It's really repetitive and and I felt that I enjoyed watching the cut-scenes felt more entertaining. Just play SSE once to get all the characters, not worth going back.
