so this isn't anything too useful, but i think it's neat. and hopefully nobody has claimed this as their discovery already.

i like to call this Crouch Dashing (CD for acronymic purposes). the main use for this is as a taunt, like crouch taunting. it's also a sort of pseudo crawl. in the video i have myself CDing under falco's laser as kirby, but it's difficult; i could barely get it down, although i was using one hand to control each character.

it's done by starting out either crouching or walking and moving the control stick between the west and southwest notches or east and southeast. simple, right? yes! and to turn around just roll the stick down to the opposite side and stand just long enough to turn around.

any character can do this, because all characters can crouch (as far as i know, lol). imo this technique is best used with kirby due to the sheer epicness and anoyingness of his crouching (just listen to that stuff!).

I saw it once in a Sonic vs someone video months ago. I don't even remember who the Sonic was.

It's funny, yes, but it isn't worth trying to claim as a discovery, much less a technique.

I do it when I sandbag, and in a sense, to keep my opponent off guard for a F/D-tilt.

>_>

LOL, I did this in Melee like 2 years back.

It's not useful, but it's fun to taunt with

Smooth Boots is the best tech name ever. Aside from the D.I.C.K of course :p

The laser dodging is at least one use for this. Seems like a lot of would-be techs come out of the crouch in Brawl.

Meh, I was kind of hoping for a technique that would allow characters who aren't supposed to be able to crawl crawl. 'Twould be very useful for G&W considering his ridiculously low crouch.

Speaking of things like this (and yet entirely off topic), how do his opponents see him? Wouldn't he just look like a line? (G&W is 2D)

this might be good for spacing jabs as well as what you showed, dodging projectiles

ROFLMAO!

yeah it was that video.

He also does it at 0:58-59.

On a funny note, I was playing some friendlies at a rec center and I was using Falcon against a Zelda. On the last stock, I 'crouchdashed' towards the Zelda, got a D-tilt, and followed it up with a Knee of Justice for the kill/win.

the few people who saw it were liek "OHHHHHHHHHHH WOW!"
