tbh wavebouncing is like, the only actual technique we have, specifically with inhale...

but it's a really ****ing good one

EDIT - oh yeah, and learn to aim waddles. people ask me how i'm so good at aiming waddles and i tell them you can actually aim them and they're like

i'd be wary of using ddd on ally if you don't have to. i imagine the slightest amount of lag would affect that MU drastically...catching snake is easiest when he's falling, and if you miss those precious frames of landing lag you'll get spotdodge-to-ftilt'd :/

then again it'd also affect him on his tilts, which means it might be easier to catch him grounded...eh, who knows. good luck!

Haha, same thing happens with me. People don't realize it till I tell them and I'm like...yeah. Also, if you smash over b they go further.

good luck to d3's

enjoy watching someone else host that $12,500 check lol

which brings me to my main question: why should I keep playing smash/ddd competitively (even though I haven't been to a tournament since the summer)? there's all these new games coming out/already out, and there really is not much of a smash community on the wc.

i could be playing protoss, e.honda, etc.

You shouldn't. EIther pick up MK (like most people eventually do), study up (which most people fail to do), then start winning. Or, stop playing completely.

Or, just go to tournies and MM people for various sums of money.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is coming. So is Gran Turismo 5. Guitar Hero: WoR and RB3 are already here......I'm so far behind.....I'll catch up on Black Friday though. I got this.

if you care about something else, play something else, hahah

smash is quite honestly the only "competitive" game i've ever really enjoyed enough to play as such, so it's kind of natural for me to proceed linearly. if there's something else you enjoy though, and if you're pretty talented at it, go for it

How does a ddd lose to an Ike.....?

We outcamp him with sideB & ftilt... we can cg him offstage where we can keep abusing his upB recovery with ftilt.
Aside from this, you just play smart and ddd should always win...

Guys I have new videos that Imma upload soon. It's from a local that's not that huge.
Once I get a lot better at the mk matchup (with my 2ndary) I'll try to travel more.

Teach me the DDD matchup.

So I stop losing to you, CPU, Junk, and Oki.

:( It's a mental wall... because I totally think Snake should be able to win this matchup.

Either that or I'm picking up MK for this matchup.

Alright so basically, it's about reacting to the situation where I might GRAB you. Once you're in my grab range, I will grab you. So spotdodge, ftilt, grab, dash attack....always keeping me AWAY from you until I'm offstage. Snake ***** ddd the hardest during edgeguarding or ddd trying to land without being uptilted, grabbed, or ftilted into the situation reset, and it's fckin annoying because of my slow air speed. All of the above are countering my ability to GRAB you. It's as simple and linear that, and as linear as the king himself. Do it, react, and it will be more of an even matchup instead of it being onesided in your opinion.

It's not onsided, but **** is it hard.

Thanks for the advice though. I'll keep that in mind and start mixing up what I do in that grab range. I don't remember spotdodging much, I ftilted way too much and I don't think I even bothered trying to grab or dash attack most of the time.

My biggest issue is just avoiding that stupid grab, and when I DO slip up it's always at like... one edge of the stage working towards the other edge -_- so it's the worst case scenario for me...

Next time we meet up I'll give you help on the FailCo and MK matchups. I actually know those a bit from watching other DDD's (and because you know... been thinking of using them as my DDD counters instead of IC's, because I always drop my grabs under pressure...)

man tusm out here bein madd unfair right now.

he must have lost to san in winners, but I took him out in losers too... granted he wasnt feeling (and thus, playing) well due to the fatigue of the day, but I beat him in a money matchup early in the day too.

I saved a few of the matches, Ill see if I can have dark upload them at somepoint.

Awesome stuff Coney, keep up the good work repping the king.

Also, my favorite part about the PR image are the "special move" and "winning quote" lines. Haha

Coney:

From your recommmendation, and after watching your videos, I'm teaming with a Lucas this weekend (FAE).
Any tips on what to do? We have a basic idea (the pk freeze wall, dthrow-usmash, Lucas dthrow-footstool > fsmash)

ddd stands in front of lucas...throw waddles while he pk freezes. if an MK comes in, prepare an utilt, but it's really lucas' job to freeze it dead. waddles deflect most approaches and the chance of a gordo is threatening. if you get a waddle doo and he's at high percent, break formation. your job is to protect the waddle. low-throw it away, throw people trying to kill it, etc. he has to be responsible to get to it. if someone is right next to the waddle and you grab them, uthrow. i know it sounds crazy but it's the only one without a hitbox to disturb his walking pattern. every other throw, even ones in the opposite direction, runs a risk of disturbing him and causing his cycle to reset, which gives the enemy more time to get rid of him. poor waddle :<

don't worry about too many gimmicks. the main thing is honestly just to stay close and remember the formation. if you get outcamped, you're probably ****ed (me and pink got destroyed by mvd and esam, and it's because mvd was just better at camping than we were and we couldn't get ourselves situated).

he's the stock tank. well, at least in our team, that's how it is. pink plays safe, irritates the opponents and stock tanks while i play my aggressive damage-building game. he feeds me a fourth stock simply because not only am i much better in singles as opposed to teams, but ddd's just a better character for that point.

honestly, that's about it. just play how you normally play. if FAE is worth his salt you'll never have to save him from getting gimped, and he'll be able to play a fantastic keep-away game.

oh, and condition FAE to punish literally every nado you get hit by. mk nado'ing ddd stops being effective when he has to land into any of lucas' smashes, those things are ****ing STRONG

Awesome, thanks Coney. I'll send this in a message to FAE so he can see it, too.

That Uthrow thing is GREAT to know. We teamed the other night, and I'd try to protect the waddle by keeping the other team away, but always end up dissrupting it...haha

Also, I think we should be fine at recovering. He's incredibly technical, and knows how to get around being gimped really well.

Also, what stages do you guys like? I figured in a lot of MUs, Fd and Picto wouldn't be bad. He also really likes PKS2, and I know some things with D3 there. Are there any explicit stages you prefer, or just depend on who you are against?

you NEED big stages. ban BF, i think that's ddd's worst teams stage by far. no matter the team i always get ****ed up big time on it.

either PS1 or FD is your best stage. FD because it's big, PS1 because it's big and the transformations usually commit people to opposite sides of the stage. by throwing waddles (and having a high probability of at least one doo), you FORCE them to a bad position. stand on the right side of that tree and watch your opponents camp on the left side...and then watch as they realize with creeping terror your intentions. the doo is out, you jump to fair away anybody coming down, and lucas has a fresh ~70%.

any stage that's big is good. most small stages are bad. frigate is AWFUL but maybe that's just pink.

in summary, ban BF/frigate, strike to SV/FD, counterpick FD/PS1

oh, halberd's alright too, depending on who you're fighting obv

ive always wanted to see how good u are with ddd coney.

usually i go to VA in the summer/thanksgiving but this year it didnt quite work out. mayb spring break or summer will be the next time, chances are summer is more likely.

u should ask chu what he thinks on a comparison basis

tbh i'm sure chu would say you're leagues and years better, he thinks i'm terrible LOL...he always used to destroy me in tourney, i almost had him last time we played but he did that stupid chu clutch **** :<

we both have aerial styles though and i think he used to be my personal counter, i kinda got over the mental block recently but he used to outright manhandle me

i'm honestly not sure that i'm that good, i'm just really good at ddd's bad matchups

except diddy
