I pre-ordered Smash for Wii U from Walmart by buyig the $5 card they offer. Has anyone done that with any other games? Do they actually hold the game for you and/or let you pick it up at midnight if they're a 24 hours store? Please share your experiences with this type of thing so that I know what to expect.

I've never pre-ordered a game at walmart... but I had tried to pick up Pokemon X at midnight since my walmart is open 24 hours. The game wasn't on the shelves yet and non of the employees cared enough to find it in the back for me. They sent me and a bunch of other gamers home. I picked it up at target in the morning :p

I preordered from them once, but it was online. For what it's worth it was a fine experience, but that's a whole different world from preordering something in store.

Never pre-ordered from Walmart, but I'm surprised I never thought of that before, considering it's open 24 hours! I'd be interested to hear how your experience goes. If it goes alright, I might consider it as an option in the future.

My Smash copy will be at Best Buy this time around. :)

So we (My wife and I) ended up picking up the game around 12pm. I didn't try to buy it at midnight. When we got there, there were no copies on the shelf and an employee looked at our pre-order card and grabbed our copy from the back. They made us purchase the game in the electronics section, saying they had had a problem with theft in the past.
