I haven't seen anyone talk about this yet so hear we go. You can fastfall with C-Stick while during an aerial move. This is helpful for a few things, namely SHFF Dair without losing any forward DI, as you can keep your control stick facing forward and never losing any forward input.

Neat huh

Cool stuff.

Makes me wonder how well it would work for Sonic, Sheik, Wolf's Dairs.

Very useful, though it will take a while to get the hang of it.

SHFF is still new to me. >.< I'm working on injecting it into my regular movement and attack. ....Along with fox-trotting. And all the other stuff. Lots of work. :-p

I didn't play competitive Melee so I never learned all the crafty stuff. :-p

If by "can" you mean "are forced to" and by "neat" you mean "horrible", then yes. One of the most important functions of the C-stick was to be able to do downward aerials WITHOUT accidentally fastfalling, so you could do things like, say, edgeguard with a dair spike without killing yourself. Now it's practically impossible to do a non-fastfalled down aerial unless you're moving upwards when you do it from one of your jumps.

Technically you can switch the C-stick from "smash" to "attack" and do non-fastfalled dairs, but that causes its own set of problems.

Thank you. Fast Falling with the cstick is terrible and I cringe everytime I do it. It was a stupid change that doesn't even make sense.

Edit *just forget lol*

Well to not make this post inutile: do a quarter animation from the sides to down to prevent the Fast Falling with Control Stick.

That isn't how it works. Anywhere in your jump, if you tap C Stick down you will do a downair, if you tap AGAIN (or just spam tap) you will begin your fastfall. I've never done it in error, and I use C Stick for all my aerials.

Actually it does ALWAYS make you fast fall when it's possible. However since you can only fast fall after the climax of your jump you can still use the cstick to dair with out fast falling. But it will make you fast fall after the climax. Only having to tap your c stick twice is still more useful since you don't have to sacrifice any horizontal momentum. HOWEVER if you set your cstick to do tilts it WONT make you fast fall in fact tapping twice wont even make you fast fall.

ditto for me. never gotten fast falls before or after apex from hitting it once.

Well after testing it some, it seems that doing a dair with the cstick after the peak of a jump always makes you fastfall even with only one press of c-down. I cannot make c-down do a dair after the apex of a jump without it also making me fastfall. This is very easy to observe in 1/2 or 1/4 speed.

If your C-stick is set to smash, pressing it downwards will always ATTEMPT to fastfall. If you're moving upwards, it's impossible to fastfall, so in that case it will do the aerial without fastfalling, and if you press it again when you're moving downwards it will fastfall. However, if you are already moving downwards when you start the aerial, you will always fastfall immediately after the first press. This is, of course, the only situation in which you would have needed the C-stick in Melee anyway.

This is very easy to observe using ics down air. I initially thought there down air auto fastfalled. It turns out c stick down was causing it.
