EDIT: It wasn't cause of the conversion, it was because the internet has bad quality.

Thanks NKB! Sometimes I guess you do know best. Converting to PNG solved the color issue, and everything looks like it's supposed to!

Maybe I should try and see how it affects the signature...

Depending on the software, gifs can make quality just about as good as any png, with significantly less file size.
Gimp makes some really good gif images while Flash makes them really, really bad.
