Gamestop info: Items off? Stock match a possibility?

I live in Westlake Village, California. I went into our Gamestop 20 mins ago and talked to them about the tournament. They said that items would be off and they are not sure yet if they're going to use a 1min time match or a 3 stock match. They said its up to nintendo, and they might have the choice to do either. I was the 32nd person to sign up, and all that was required of me was my name and number.

I'm not sure if this will be the rules for other tournaments, but it seems, at my Gamestop, items will be off and *prays* stock match.

Yeah, please do that, my guess is that specific rules like items, maps are up to the discretion of the gamestop in question.

I also hope that I could get a spot for the tournament.
The website said to show up and sign up right before the tournament but I didn't actually call them to ask.

I'm not really that into the tournament though. You win you get a stupid trophy and have to play in some other tournament with the same stupid rules.

What's going on with sign-ups? My Gamestop told me to "just show up at 10 PM." I keep seeing all these talks of 32 person limits and signups, and I'm afraid the employee I talk to might have been mistaken >.<
