Okay, a strategy I have for dealing damage with Ness is to dash-grab, hit them twice quickly, and then down-throw.

Has anybody else noticed that when you hit them quickly once, they don't actually take damage? ._.;

I mean, I don't really care. I'll just hit them again to give them damage anyway. :p

But still...it's kinda weird.

Two is that is there anybody who plays as Ness and plays wifi? I've never actually played against even a decent Ness player before, like ever. My friends don't play as Ness. I'd like to play against somebody who plays Ness. I also use Lucas, but mainly Ness. :p

You can also contact me on AIM or MSN if possible about that, but this thread is mainly about that glitch. :ohwell:

I don't think it's a glitch actually. I think it's just either
a) They don't do a set amount of damage. Maybe ranging from .5-2%
b) Each one only does less than 1%.

I'm guessing a combination of both.

lol I play Lucas and Ness on wifi every once in a while against anyone. I win almost every round because PKT2 is so amazing in chaotic free for alls. Sadly I have an awful connection which lags horribly and occasionally drops me.

Hmm? Every time I hit them they take damage. I usually hit as soon as i grab so that it seems like they take damage from the grab itself.

Maybe that's what you see? You see the damage go to the grab and not the headbutt since the damage comes in so quickly.

This has happened to me too. On the first time of doing it in a match even, so it's not the attacks getting weaker that's doing it.

I think the damage comes a bit later so maybe what you are seeing is the damage from the 1st hit when you hit them the 2nd time and then the 2nd damage is canceled because you throw to early.

Bingo.

We already know that the game tracks damage more finely than the integer output to the screen. It rounds the output, but is keeping track of more significant digits internally.

The way to check is to see if we can control when this first hit changes the damage on the screen. We deal fractional damage, then use this move.

I don't have time for such science.

He's (and myself) saying that the game tracks down fractions of numbers. Meaning, if an attack does, hypothetically, 1.8 damage (the grab-pummel in question), it'll round the damage to 1% but still keeps track that the attack did 1.8. But if you hit them again with the same move, it'll do another 1.8 damage, which will bring you from 1% to 3 (3.6)% instead of 1% to 2% because the .8 that was dealt along with the initial 1% was conserved.

It's hard to explain I guess haha.
