I just can't find a main. First I used link because i love twighlight princess, but then with all the talk of him getting nerferd and him not being too good and all that and him not having the best recovery, i chose luigi because was my second favourite, but then i wasnt that good with him and i kept getting pwnd by wolves. So then i took snake, also a favourite of mine. But i couldnt use his mines very well and i didnt like his playing style. So i went back to luigi but i still wasnt so good with him, and i dont think i will be maining him. So how did YOU choose ur main, better yet, how do I choose one?

You switch characters too fast. If you practice more with a single character you'll get good with him/her and eventually main it.

ok, well if you plan to go and participate in several major tournaments then i suggest you find a main, otherwise you really dont need one.

But on the subject of finding one, just play a good couple of matches with every single character in the game, find the one(s) that are good for you, if there is more than one keep playing with them and try to narrow it down to just one.

This will help you find the character you are best with, and also the one which you like to play as the most.

I'd really love that, sadly I can't cause I live in egypt and I'm not ready to travel all over the world everyday to participate in tournys, i'll just stick to battling online.

Try spreading out on characters who share the strengths that you can utilize. Don't like Luigi, but like his style? Try Mario, maybe he'd be better for you. Don't like Snake? No surprise, he's unique. Don't like Link? I don't either now that he's been nerfed, and his Up B isn't that good compared to other characters. Try Toon Link?

I migrated from Link as well, but I kept close to my other mains, for the most part.

I stayed with Falco. I knew I liked him from Melee. They got rid of Roy, but I like the new Marth better than the old Marth. They nerfed Ganondorf but I find Wolf is similar enough that I like him.

I also like Sonic and ROB. Clearly I don't have 1 definite main, it's too early to know your main for sure. Just look out for playstyles you like, then pick the one in that category with the stats you can take advantage of the best.

I didn't choose any of my main characters based on their gameplay. I chose them because I liked them from their respective franchises. Toon Link and Pokemon Trainer were my most wanted characters, and since Toon Link was an improved Young Link he was extremely easy to use. I chose him to be my main character because he was my strongest.

I use the Pokemon characters as secondaries ('cause I really like Pokemon...) I've used Pikachu since SSB64, so he's still pretty comfortable. I didn't use Jigglypuff until Brawl, and of course Pokemon Trainer and Lucario were newbies, so I practiced with all of them until I knew their fighting style and what they exceled at.

Honestly, there are ways around everything if you're willing to look. If you really like Link, Luigi and Snake, make sure you know of their weaknesses and think of ways to overcome them. I'm sure those three are very usable, you just have to adapt to what they've got. I think you should give them another chance.

What do you like in a character? Do you prefer projectiles, range, recovery, priority, speed? Everyone is basically playable, some characters are worse than others though simply because it's impossible to make everyone different without someone having the advantage, and a character with no disadvantages would be completely broken. So if you like Link, even with the disadvantages he has, play him anyway. If you are truly good, you'll either pwn everyone with whoever you main, or you'll end up switching your main. If you've never been to a tournament, you probably won't win your first one anyway regardless of who you use.

I also wouldn't completely give up on a character because of one bad matchup. If you want, play your main against everyone that isn't Wolf, and find a character that Wolf does bad against to play as a secondary.

Try practicing over and over if that fails and that char has a similar/clone then try that one out (in your case TL). If you just dont like the play sttyle try out other chars.

When I glanced over this I thought it said "help finding a man...".

On topic, don't try to pick one, it's better to be good with many than a master with one.

I would not focus what characters you liked from previous titles, and focus more and their play styles and what feels comfortable to you.

Love a character but aren't good with him? Well quit being so noob and get better with him! Learn, practice, play a lot of matches, read Smashboards discussions... get better at him. It ain't a life-changing decision and the true objective is to have fun. Pick a character who you LIKE and PRACTICE.

Ok if you want to find a main here is how
try out every character in Brawl against a lvl 9 Bowser( use bowser cuz he is the best to train against) or what ever level as long as its past lvl 3
Then find out what player your best with by doing that over and over again thats how i found Donkey kong and ROB
