Disney Smash Bros. Ultimate
All characters must be offically Disney-branded (doesn't have to be created at Disney, but no Marvel/Star Wars/Simpsons. TVA is fine, Pixar is fine, so on). No guests. Animated characters and puppets only. Chronology is not considered, more just "Disney decides to spend an inexplicable amount of their inexplicable money on an unproven idea for some reason". 100 characters just because it's more clean than Ultimate's 91

As I mentioned a few days back, I was thinking of doing a sequel to my 2005 Xbox roster, and I think I've got a decent one here. That being said, there's a few elements of it that differ from what might be expected. I'll list those notes here, like I did for the first one.
  • This game releases in time for the holiday season of 2011, and is prominently marketed as a "celebration" of Xbox's 10th anniversary. It isn't, however, explicitly developed with the theme of "celebration" in mind - it's simply a sequel to a decently well-regarded late Xbox release.
  • While the game's content would be bolstered significantly compared to the previous game, this would mostly be in additional content such as music, collectables, additional modes (including for the online experience) and so forth, more similar to Brawl's way of handling things. It'd also introduce Assists, which I'll get to later. However, it wouldn't have an Adventure Mode or any equivalent.
  • The game would be a sequel to the original, not a remake. Given that it's being developed from the ground up, characters would have changes to their movesets and in some cases appearances, as well as to other elements like their general feel. This means there's quite a lot of cuts from the first game - a total of 10. However, some of these are being replaced with more modern candidates from their series.
  • Also on the note of character picks, we're limiting the number of third-party characters to four in total. One of which may surprise you, at a glance. The total character roster has gone up from 19 to 28.

Returning characters are indicated with italics.

Firstly, the Base Roster:
  • Master Chief is an obvious returning candidate, by now being based on his Halo 3 incarnation. In terms of moveset and mechanics, he doesn't differ all too much with the exception of his weapons predominantly focusing on UNSC equipment, mostly due to Covenant equipment being represented by several other characters by now.
  • Arbiter is, in this game, a composite of Thel 'Vadam (as seen in the mainline Halo franchise) and Ripa 'Moramee from the Halo Wars spinoff. Beyond this, not many changes here either, except that Arbiter now has a slightly wider breadth of weapons to choose from while still focusing on the Energy Sword.
  • Joanna Dark is another character without too many notes, aside from now being more closely based on Perfect Dark Zero while still having her classic appearance as an alternate costume. As such, some of her gadgets have been replaced, but she maintains the CQC inspiration.
  • Horstachio is a new character from the well-performing Viva Piñata series, notable for his slightly unusual gameplay that matches elements of the earlier games' simulation elements. Specifically, as well as having a passable close-up moveset, he's able to plant different plants that lends him a degree of stage control.
  • Hero of Brightwall effectively replaces the Hero from the first game, in this case representing the recent release of Fable III. As such, the new Hero has a few moveset changes, including the use of a musket for some attacks - but overall has a similar gameplay concept to that of his distant ancestor. Notably, the Hero's alts have both male and female appearances.
  • Agent is our representative for the Crackdown series, based on his appearance in Crackdown 2. He's ostensibly a heavyweight, mostly using physical strength and explosives to attack as opposed to relying on firearms, but also has surprising vertical mobility due to his ability to glide around.
  • Shu, from Blue Dragon, is an unorthodox character who manifests his Shadow for many of his stronger attacks, utilising elements from the RPG-based gameplay of his series of origin. This includes a unique Charge system that increases the power of his magical attacks when used after not being used for a long time, as well as having a minor buff to his attack power when attacking opponents from behind.
  • Priestess of Ra is our new Age of Empires representative, specifically pulled from the 2011 release of Age of Empires Online and replacing both Arkantos and Joan of Arc in the process. She'd mostly be a summoner who could call upon Ancient Egyptian soldiers to attack on her behalf, though she would also have the ability to call upon the Egyptian gods to cast powerful magical spells.
  • Banjo & Kazooie would be a headlining pick for this game, similar to their inclusion in the Xbox 360 version of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, though their design would be based on that seen in Nuts and Bolts. Despite this, their actual moveset would predominantly pull from Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, due to the former's inclusion on XBLA.
  • Kameo returns from the previous game, with a slightly more game-accurate moveset (given her original appearance was based on Kameo during it's development.) However, she maintains a similar gameplay loop of transforming for her different attacks.
  • Inphyy is another new character, this time from Ninety-Nine Nights, a hack-n-slash similar to the Warriors series, added as another pick to cross-promote to the Japanese audience. Her moveset relies on her swordsmanship, but has a unique install in the form of Orb Mode, allowing her to perform buffed individual attacks. She also has a unique combo chaining system that slightly changes her attacks depending on the combos you input.
  • Fulgore once again returns with a slightly different design more reminiscent of what would eventually be his look in KI2013, though his moveset and general design language once again heavily pulls from the first two KI games - including maintaining the Combo Breaker mechanic.
  • 'Splosion Man is effectively a representative (and cross-promotion) for the wider XBLA scene, as well as being a generally well-regarded IP from recently-acquired studio Twisted Pixel. As you might imagine, he'd be a lightweight and fast-moving character with a lot of explosion-based attacks.
  • Blinx returns from the previous game, though this time less as a headlining pick and more as a candidate to act as somewhat of a "historical" rep, representing the series's prevelance on the Xbox platform while also adding a degree of visual uniqueness compared to the rest of the cast. He'd also have some moveset changes to reflect Blinx 2 a little more than in the original game.
  • Metahuman is an odder pick, specifically representing 2007's Shadowrun. With FASA Studio by now having been liquidated, Microsoft retained the rights to video game adaptations of FASA role-playing games (licensing them to Smith & Tinker), and so Metahuman is picked from Shadowrun to represent probably one of their largest role-playing games as well as a decently important and somewhat recent first-party game release. They'd either be an elf or a human, and would fight with a mix of firearms, technology, and magical spells.
  • Avatar is chosen to represent Xbox in a more general sense, as well as the self-titled Kinect! brand including games like Kinect! Adventures and Kinect! Sports. They're customisable and can match the appearance of your own Xbox avatar, though their moveset is preset to a default containing mostly references to the Kinect! titles. Notably, while the Avatar can wear a variety of costumes, a lot of clothing items aren't compatible with the game due to licensing issues. This applies to items such as real-world clothing brands, certain character costumes, and so forth.
  • General RAAM is introduced to solely represent the Gears of War franchise, due to it still being owned by Epic Games at the moment. He's chosen over Marcus mostly because I can imagine the developers wanting to avoid too many "space marine"-esque character archetypes, and also because RAAM is an iconic character from Gears of War who'd work well as a much-needed heavyweight. His playstyle would be violent and pretty fear-inducing, fitting for his character.
  • Kasumi returns from the previous game, sporting her redesign from Dead or Alive 4 and many of her moves from that game too. However, she also has costumes based on her previous appearances. In terms of moveset, she doesn't have too many changes other than this.
And then the Unlockable Roster:
  • Thrallslayer is here from the first Halo Wars, being a powerful heavyweight who fights using his scarily effective Gravity Hammer, a powerful weapon with massive knockback and AoE effects on hit. As well as this, he takes reduced hitstun from attacks, and doesn't flinch from smaller ones. Interestingly, his series is described simply as being from "Halo" within this game (mostly because Halo Wars isn't a series in itself, as of yet.)
  • Prophet of Truth is the game's fourth Halo character, a deliberately unorthodox pick with an unusual playstyle. Given the Prophets aren't particularly combat-centric, they'd be a defensive character mostly relying on a pair of Eye drones to attack on their behalf, though the anti-gravity chairs in which they sit give them decent aerial mobility - as well as containing hidden assault cannons to defend from close-up assailants.
  • Jack of Blades returns as a second Fable rep from the first game without too many changes either, though his magical abilities are tempered somewhat to differentiate him from characters like the Priestess of Ra and Horstachio.
  • Theresa is a third Fable representative who's appeared consistently throughout the series, being the sister of the original Hero from the first game. She's a powerful psychic, so she'd utilise a slightly offbeat mage archetype somewhat comparable to Mewtwo's in nature.
  • Rash returns from the previous game without too many changes, though Zitz and Pimple now have unique voicelines and even title cards of their own. He's otherwise one of the more faithful characters to the previous game, though this is only because he was designed in both cases to be faithful to the beat-em-up titles from which he originated.
  • Gunstringer is a mostly promotional choice to promote the Kinect, though he'd also have a unique moveset taking deliberate inspiration both from his game of origin as well as from Western tropes in general. Notably, his jump would be quite floaty, as he's literally being "pulled up" by the strings that hold him up.
  • Jago is probably a weird choice at first glance, given the Killer Instinct series has been dead for some time, but in recognition of both the upcoming KI reboot in 2013 as well as the potential to provide an unexpected candidate from a series already represented (which, to an extent, is already seen with characters like the Prophet and Theresa), he still makes a lot of sense. His moveset would be based on that seen in the first two KI games, with him fighting using his katana, and he'd share Fulgore's Combo Breaker mechanic.
  • Racer is chosen as a deliberately unexpected candidate similar to Super Smash Bros.'s Mr. Game & Watch, intended to be a surprise for players. He's inspired by the Forza franchise, and while his moveset (similar to Edison Trent's in the last game) is mostly original, it takes heavy inspiration from racing overall.
  • Gordon Freeman is introduced as a Valve character, partially as cross-promotion for The Orange Box, but also in recognition both of Half-Life's importance and Valve's historical relationship with Microsoft before this point. His moveset predominantly uses different tools and equipment from Half-Life 2, such as the Gravity Gun, and the use of his infamous crowbar as a melee weapon.
  • Ryu Hayabusa is the game's second Tecmo character, also chosen due to the company's good relationship with Microsoft, as well as the popularity of the Ninja Gaiden reboot franchises. He'd originally be proposed to replace Kasumi, but Tecmo would suggest including both characters in the game due to their crossovers in their own media. As for his gameplay, it'd exclusively be based on his reboot appearances with only subtle callbacks to his classic games, though he would have a "classic" alt resembling that of the boxart of the first Ninja Gaiden.

Then, on top of this... the game'd include DLC! Let's take a look at that.

An eclectic selection that'd be added on roughly a seasonal basis, i.e., roughly one character every three months. Obviously there'd be other downloadable content too - stages and Avatar costumes spring to mind - but the characters would be a big part of this, and they'd bring plenty of elements with them.
  • Cortana would be a pre-order bonus character releasing a couple of weeks after the game itself in Winter, 2011. An obvious, if unorthodox candidate given her popularity, her playstyle would be what I'd describe as a "cyber-mage" - using plenty of technologically-themed attacks and holograms to battle against opponents, as well as technology from the UNSC that she can commandeer for her use.
  • Arkantos is somewhat here to temper expectations and call back to the original game, releasing in Spring, 2012. While his playstyle would be similar to the first game, it'd be expanded, of course - and he'd be notable for bringing with him a lot of more general Age of Empires content - both from the mainline series and the spinoffs.
  • Knights are our first third-party candidate, courtesy of the Behemoth, and would release in Summer, 2012. Castle Crashers was a decently big deal, working with indies nets Microsoft some goodwill, and including Behemoth content would appease another interested crowd - Newgrounds fans. In terms of gameplay, you'd generally control the Red Knight, but they'd occasionally call in the Blue, Green and Orange Knights for additional attacks with their own unique effects.
  • Reaver is pulled from the Fable series as a sort of subtle cross-promotion for Fable: Heroes in Autumn, 2012. That aside, he's also a prominent character in both Fable II and Fable III, and his moveset - focusing on his marksmanship with elements of close-range defence with his cane - would really differentiate him from other gun-toting characters on the roster.
  • Frank West is a second third-party candidate intended to make a splash for the holiday season of Winter, 2012. Working with Capcom has its benefits, and the Dead Rising series is a pretty iconic one that's by now associated with the Xbox brand quite effectively. Plus, this wouldn't actually be the first fighting game he's been included in (that honour going to Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars), so Capcom would probably be fine with it.
  • Dust is a third third-party pick that's a little unorthodox, but still makes a lot of sense for Spring, 2013. Playing on a similar concept of "indie goodwill" as with the Knights, it's also worth noting that Dust: An Elysian Tail was a pretty decent success story both for its developers and for Xbox as a brand... and may have indirectly led to games like Ori and Cuphead in the process. Plus, Dust's more cartoonish design differentiates a little from the human-heavy roster we're working with.
  • Orchid is an unusual first-party candidate who'd be announced in Summer, 2013... alongside the upcoming Killer Instinct reboot. With this in mind, her design would by default be based on her KI2013 look (while Fulgore and Jago would still be based on their classic appearances). However, she'd get alts for her classic looks, and the other two KI characters would get alts that more directly reflect their modern appearances.
  • Ryo Hazuki ends off DLC for Autumn, 2013 - both returning from the previous game and being a third-party collaboration with SEGA, due in small part to the 2012 fan-poll for SASASR:T and his future inclusion in the game. He'd obviously be a Shenmue rep, but he'd uniquely also bring a ton of SEGA's arcade history with him - including an additional stage based on SEGA's Akihabara (which'd in itself be mostly in reference to Yakuza) and a lot of music from their arcade titles. Feels like a good way to top off the lineup!

Gonna redo that Echo Fighter for every fighter list I did back in August. Gonna force myself to stick more closely to the skeletons of the original fighters (though scaling is on the table), and still no cross-series aside from retro franchises.
  • Mario: Shadow Mario (different smash attacks using paintbrush; Neutral Special throws out a goop ball; Up B uses FLUDD)
  • Donkey Kong: Circus Kong (pretty similar overall; woulda done funky but quadruped funky feels a bit cursed)
  • Link: Hero's Shade (pretty much Brawl/4 Link. shoutouts to wawawa for this idea)
  • Samus: Dark Samus
  • Yoshi: Boshi (pretty much a full-clone with faster/lighter/stronger stats)
  • Kirby: Shadow Kirby (same normals, but a different set of specials)
  • Fox: Fay (probably a full clone with different stats)
  • Pikachu: Pikachu Libre (has a few grappling-based attacks)
  • Luigi: Gooigi
  • Ness: Paula (stronger PSI attacks in exchange for weaker physical moves)
  • Captain Falcon: Jody Summer (maybe borrows some moves from ZSS)
  • Jigglypuff: Igglybuff
  • Peach: Daisy
  • Bowser: Midbus
  • Ice Climbers: Topis (US designs)
  • Sheik: Impa (AoC)
  • Zelda: Hilda

  • Dr. Mario: Builder Mario (mostly the same normals, but borrows smash attacks from King Dedede and has unique specials)
  • Pichu: Plusle (Minun is an alt. Less damage than Pichu, but no recoil. Final Smash works like Kat and Ana's AT)

  3. Galtar (Link)
  4. Gravity Girl (Samus)
  5. Dino (Yoshi)
  6. Space Ghost (Fox)
  7. Barney Rubble (Luigi)
  8. Jonny Quest (Ness)
  9. Blue Falcon (Captain Falcon)
  10. Penelope Pitstop (Peach)
  11. Pixie and Dixie (Ice Climbers)
  12. Mr. Slate (Dr. Mario)
  13. Brak (Falco)
  14. Scooby-Doo (Marth)
  15. Dino Boy (Young Link)
  16. Dr. Zin (Ganondorf)
  17. Shaggy (Roy)
  18. Ruff (Mr. Game and Watch)
  19. George Jetson (Wario)
  20. Fred Jones (Ike)

    1. Jokey Smurf (Squirtle)
    2. Smurfette (Ivysaur)
    3. Papa Smurf (Charizard) (In this timeline, Papa Smurf would go solo on the 3DS.)
  22. So-So (Diddy Kong)
  23. Hadji (Lucas)
  24. Bugs Bunny (Sonic)
  25. Rosie the Robot (R.O.B.)
  26. Moltar (Wolf)
  27. Huckleberry Hound (Villager)
  28. Pac-Man
  29. Daphne Blake (Robin)
  30. Muttley and Yankee Doodle Pigeon (Duck Hunt Duo)
  31. Velma (Corrin)
  32. Squiddly Diddly (Inkling)
  33. Wally Gator (King K. Rool)
  34. Yogi Bear (Banjo and Kazooie) (If anyone knows of a HB counterpart to Kazooie, let me know.)
  35. Scrappy-Doo (Byleth)
Not every Smash fighter has a clear-cut Hanna-Barbera equal, so this is currently incomplete.
I like how pac-man is the same cuz he had an HB cartoon.

Also, I would propose that a good Banjo-Kazooie equivalent could be Tom & Jerry. They have some parallels if you stretch stuff only a tiny bit.

Tom & Jerry were created by Hanna-Barbera's namesake, but they didn't own the rights and eventually split from the characters.

Nowadays they both belong to Warner, but hopefully you get what I'm trying to say here.

It's a duo that's heavily associated with a brand that doesn't own them

That actually makes more sense than I realized. Thanks for the suggestion.

Posted this in the profile posts and somehow didn't realise it'd be a good idea to post here: a Kingdom Hearts game made by someone who knows nothing about Kingdom Hearts and only cares about funne disney. Replaced one NPC with another (Della Duck replaced with Gadget Hackwrench) and added two extra Squenix NPCs. (Bub & Bob and Crono). Also renamed one world ("The Axiom" to "Trash Planet") to use an area of its source material that stands out more in the overall world list.

Disney Worlds: (in gameplay progression order)
  1. Polynesia (Moana)
  2. Nottingham (Robin Hood)
  3. Toy Box (Toy Story 3)
  4. WDP Circus (Dumbo)
  5. London (The Great Mouse Detective)
  6. Kuzco's Empire (The Emperor's New Groove)
  7. Trash Planet (Wall-E)
  8. The Great Before (Soul)
  9. A Galaxy Far Away (Star Wars)
  10. The Muppet Show (Mini-game world, could go anywhere in the game order)
Square-Enix worlds:
  1. A Dragon Quest world
Summons:
  1. Stitch
  2. Ariel
  3. Simba
  4. The Emotions
  5. Lightning McQueen
  6. Mei
  7. Cloud
New plot-relevant crossover characters:
  1. Figment
  2. Phantom Blot
  3. Max Goof
  4. Crono
Non-plot-relevant non-world-based NPCs
  1. Oswald & Ortensia
  2. Phineas & Ferb
  3. Gadget Hackwrench
  4. Bub & Bob

Each DLC racer would be sold separately with each release being four months apart. This easily gives the game a two-year lifecycle.

Alright, here's an idea that's taken wayyy too much outta me.

Comic Super Stars!

There's a ton of rosters out there for Manga characters, this is basically that but for western comics. And MANNNNNNN this was tricky to do, there's a lot of comics out there. There's a ton of iconic characters I'm sure I left out, but I did what I did. There's 32 characters, which I believe is one more than Jump Super Stars, I wanted to round it up cuz I like even numbered rosters.

You'll notice there's a lot of Marvel/DC characters, 12 to be precise. I did that on purpose, as I feel that way the game could be a gateway to introduce marvel/dc fans to other comics. Also they have a lot of super important and influential characters, so yeah. As a final note, characters who debuted outside of comics aren't eligible for roster status, atleast base roster. Let's get started!

Superman - Obvious choice, no explanation needed whatsoever.
Batman - Same case.
Wonder Woman - Same case.
The Flash (Barry Allen) - Chosen for a lot of reasons, namely because he's commonly marked as the beginning of the silver age and because began the comic book multiverse obsession.
Captain Marvel (Billy Batson) - Mostly here to represent his pre-DC history. Captain Marvel was an extremely popular character for a time, even surpassing Superman.
Static - Sometimes known as Static Shock, he's joining partially due to his history with Milestone Media and the Dakotaverse.
Spider-Man - Obvious choice.
Captain America - Chosen over other Avengers due to being one of marvel's few major Golden Age heroes.
Wolverine - A massively popular character, look up Wolverine Publicity and you'll get why he's here.
The Thing - My personal pick for Fantastic Four representation. Just a great character.
Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) - Here for a number of reasons, she's got a modern vibe that adds nice variety in a roster full of mostly classics while still being classic herself.
Thanos - I wanted a character that would represent event comics, this guy fit the bill.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Probably the most famous comic characters in the roster aside from the Marvel and DC guys. Obvious choice. You'd constantly swap between and summon the bros for attacks, it'd be rather hectic.
Spawn - Obvious choice, pretty popular, appears in other fighting games.
Savage Dragon - Another popular character from Image Comics, and another heavyweight for the roster.
Invincible - Third and final image comics rep, a relatively modern pick, and has a lot of popularity right now with his show.
Hellboy - Dark Horse Comics' sole rep in the base roster, another rather iconic character that's appeared in movies and games.
Judge Dredd - Well known character, has a level of comicbook edge.
Flaming Carrot - Wanted a weird pick for the "superhero" side of the roster, and this guy is really really weird character. He's been part of multiple comic book publications.
Vampirella - A Horror themed Superheroine with a surprisingly long history.
The Cryptkeeper - Hails from the iconic Tales from the Crypt. Acts as the primary horror rep in the game, a category of comic very important to the history of the medium.
Archie - Definitely the first name I think of when I hear "non-superhero comicbook".
Sabrina the Teenage Witch - Another famous Archie Comics character.
Miyamoto Musashi - A bunny samurai hailing from Usagi Yojimbo, he's a character you might know from his various crossovers with the TMNT.
Ramona Flowers - Scott Pilgrim representation, another relatively modern character. I also believe she's the only Graphic Novel character in the game, making her a rep for that, too.
Asterix - I'm an American, so I'm not too familiar with the guy, but I do see the value in representing european comics. I also think he'd be a lot of fun!
Tintin - Another representation for european comics, another popular guy.
Dennis the Menace - Specifically, this is the British version of the character, added to round out the european representation.
Spies - Hailing from MAD Magazine, I think they'd be a ton of fun.
Scrooge McDuck - Representing the Disney Ducks comics, which are massively popular- anywhere but America, luckily Scrooge is still a very popular character here due to his presence in other media!
Tangle the Lemur - Represents Sonic comics, which have a very very long history as I'm sure many of you know. I've gone with Tangle because I'm trying to be semi-realistic on an individual level here. A character from Archie or Fleetway would likely be impossible. And anyways, I just think she'd be fun!
Popeye - I haven't represented comic strips too much in this roster, as it's a bit of a rabbit hole. BUT Popeye has gotta be an exception. He's got a ton of potential, he's super famous, and I wanna see him punch Superman in the face.

So uh, there you have it, hope you like. I'm tired but I may do DLC or maybe character rivalries at a later time.

The semi-sequel to my last post; Smash Ultimate, but everyone has a cross-series echo! Will limit myself to just companies who participated in Ultimate's development, and those with preexisting Echoes will be a part of the list. Only went up to Melee for now.
  • Mario: Jumpman (technically cross-series :troll:)
  • Donkey Kong: Winston (Overwatch; same normals with an entirely different set of specials)
  • Link: Warrior of Light (Final Fantasy)
  • Samus: X (Mega Man X, same idea as my EAC pitch)
  • Yoshi: Alex (Tekken)
  • Kirby: Trubbish (similar normals, different specials)
  • Fox: Sami (Sin and Punishment)
  • Pikachu: Very Gnawty (DKC, different specials + no electric effects)
  • Luigi: swear to god i got nothing for him. thought for a long while but no dice.
  • Ness: Sans (el-em-ay-oh)
  • Captain Falcon: Captain Rainbow
  • Jigglypuff: Sleep Kirby
  • Peach: Stylia (Zelda)
  • Bowser: Ganon (EAC pitch)
  • Ice Climbers: Lolo and Lala (Adventures of Lolo)
  • Sheik: Joe Musashi (Shinobi)
  • Zelda: Veronica (Dragon Quest)
  • Dr. Mario: Crash Bandicoot (Megavitamin replaced with Wumpa Fruit, cape replaced with Aku Aku, new Up Special)
  • Pichu: Gnawty (DKC, different specials + no electric effects)
  • Falco: Harrier (Space Harrier; put over Falco instead of Fox due to higher jumps)
  • Marth: Swordfighter Peach
  • Young Link: Shovel Knight (EAC pitch)
  • Ganondorf: M. Bison
  • Mewtwo: Giygas
  • Roy: Travis Touchdown
  • Mr. Game & Watch: Sega Pat (Sega Channel mascot)

Was stopping by this thread for short minute and realized I shared my Playstation roster here long ago- I decided to share a small update I did for it.
Playstation.jpg
Aside from render updates, the only notable change in the roster was Chloe being swapped for Jann Mardenborough, the protagonist of the Gran Turismo movie. It was basically the only change I made for this roster for an entire year+ now, although I doubt I'll be going back to it again since I consider it pretty definitive.
Well, rather annoyingly the image I provided (Edit: for the base roster) failed and I had to go back to fix it, and I couldn't re-upload it as a PDF, so I had to convert it to a JPG, overall a weird issue.

Anyway, after quite some time I made a 12-Character DLC Line-Up to follow up this roster; I've had this line-up for a long time but never made a visual for it until recently.

Classic Kratos feels like a hella fun pre-order bonus of some kind, and the other candidates here are neat too! Revan's a pretty wild choice, and I gotta say, going with Makoto over other Persona protags is an inspired but hella fun choice. ...he should totally get FEMC costumes like Robin's, Corrin's & Byleth's.

I should say, Revan was added way back when the PS5 Exclusive KotOR Remake was still happening. Technically, it still is, but it's in total limbo as to whether or not it will be anytime this generation or if a potential cancellation will come. With that said, I liked Revan as a choice way too much to want to cut him, so he ended up staying as the line-up evolved.

Funnily enough I had Yu as the Persona character before a friend on Discord had pointed out Makoto was never included in a Fighting Game before, and P3R just came out so the timing was right for a theoritcal DLC inclusion. FEMC Costume would 100% be a thing too since it's on the table!

Also, I guess I did forget to mention it but Classic Kratos is indeed a bonus character ala Piranha Plant, mostly to warm people up for all the other characters hence why he's first on the list.

The semi-sequel to my last post; Smash Ultimate, but everyone has a cross-series echo! Will limit myself to just companies who participated in Ultimate's development, and those with preexisting Echoes will be a part of the list. Only went up to Melee for now.
  • Mario: Jumpman (technically cross-series :troll:)
  • Donkey Kong: Winston (Overwatch; same normals with an entirely different set of specials)
  • Link: Warrior of Light (Final Fantasy)
  • Samus: X (Mega Man X, same idea as my EAC pitch)
  • Yoshi: Alex (Tekken)
  • Kirby: Trubbish (similar normals, different specials)
  • Fox: Sami (Sin and Punishment)
  • Pikachu: Very Gnawty (DKC, different specials + no electric effects)
  • Luigi: swear to god i got nothing for him. thought for a long while but no dice.
  • Ness: Sans (el-em-ay-oh)
  • Captain Falcon: Captain Rainbow
  • Jigglypuff: Sleep Kirby
  • Peach: Stylia (Zelda)
  • Bowser: Ganon (EAC pitch)
  • Ice Climbers: Lolo and Lala (Adventures of Lolo)
  • Sheik: Joe Musashi (Shinobi)
  • Zelda: Veronica (Dragon Quest)
  • Dr. Mario: Crash Bandicoot (Megavitamin replaced with Wumpa Fruit, cape replaced with Aku Aku, new Up Special)
  • Pichu: Gnawty (DKC, different specials + no electric effects)
  • Falco: Harrier (Space Harrier; put over Falco instead of Fox due to higher jumps)
  • Marth: Swordfighter Peach
  • Young Link: Shovel Knight (EAC pitch)
  • Ganondorf: M. Bison
  • Mewtwo: Giygas
  • Roy: Travis Touchdown
  • Mr. Game & Watch: Sega Pat (Sega Channel mascot)
Two Gnawties, Jumpman, AND Trubbish? Holy based Batman.

Finally, after a month or two (or even longer), I have completed a full roster for a potential Mario vs. Sonic Battle game. Four rosters are included for: the starting roster, the full base roster (after the unlockables), and DLC seasons 1 and 2, respectively.

Mario vs. Sonic (Style 1) - Starting Roster.jpg

  • I feel like the 20 characters that are customary in the Mario & Sonic series served as a great starting point, as they are all recognizable, iconic and have unique movesets to differentiate themselves from one another.
  • Charmy Bee is part of Vector's moveset, similar to Sonic Smackdown.
  • Tails isn't specifically from Sonic Boom, but it's more so to represent his use of gadgets.
  • Potentially, Dry Bowser and Eggman Nega are used for alternate costumes for Bowser and Dr. Eggman, respectively. Shadow and Wario would also have alternates based on the Shadow Android and Wario's overalls.
Mario vs. Sonic (Style 1) - Full Base Roster.jpg

  • Birdo and Big the Cat were initially supposed to be in, instead of Pauline and Jet. However, the latter two were chosen instead for moveset variety and to have more "interesting" picks.
  • King Boo is probably the most oddball pick of this roster, but it was chosen after recommendations came in since I was originally discussing plans for a boss character for each series (Fawful was originally considered to be the Mario boss), but after seeing Luigi's Mansion 3 boss fights, King Boo got in.
  • Toad would have Toadette as an alternate costume, while Rosalina can have the Cosmic Spirit as another alternate costume.
Mario vs. Sonic (Style 1) - DLC Season 1 Roster.jpg

  • As mentioned before, Birdo and Big the Cat were meant to be part of the main roster, so I made them pre-order bonus characters since I always decided that the base roster would be 30 characters total.
  • Piranha Plant and Emerl are the first DLC characters since I kind of consider them "essentials" for a Mario vs. Sonic fighting game since they have made their most notable appearances in fighting games.
  • Koopa Troopa and E-102 Gamma were originally not supposed to be in, but I was interested when I found Koopa Troopa had some fan movesets online, and Gamma was already in Sonic Battle, so I included him.
  • Gamma's inclusion meant that Fang was pushed into the second wave of DLC.
  • Merlina (or the Dark Queen) was meant to be the Sonic boss, but Mephiles got chosen instead since I found a number of moves for him.
  • For alternate costumes, Emerl would have Gemerl and E-121 Phi as costumes, and would have aesthetic differences (Emerl has fire, Gemerl has electricity, and E-121 Phi has either rocks or wind).
Mario vs. Sonic (Style 1) - DLC Season 2 Roster.jpg

  • Boom Boom and Mighty & Ray were chosen definitely because they were classic characters who have had a resurgence in the 2010s (Boom Boom in the 3D Land/World games, and Mighty & Ray in Sonic Mania Plus).
  • Trip and Pom Pom are "classic" characters created in modern day, so they're in.
  • Since it's DLC, I felt that the final characters had to be ones that are fan-favourites, but would be harder to negotiate for and be worth it. For the four characters in the middle row (Geno and Mallow, Tangle and Whisper), IDW and Square Enix would need to negotiate for these characters, but it would make sense for the final DLC characters. This would also be a "compromise" for Geno in Smash.
I also have a bunch of scrapped characters as well such as:
  • From Mario series: Paper Mario, Dixie Kong, Stanley, Tatanga
  • From Sonic series: Werehog Sonic, Custom Hero (from Sonic Forces), Wave the Swallow, Storm the Albatross, Eggrobo

For the record, I don't think there's any legal issues with including idw Sonic characters. IIRC sega just 100% owns the idw characters, unlike past Sonic comics.

Here's a concept for a fully first-party Smash Ultimate. I need to stick to 79 fighters plus 7 echoes (though I am being a little bit lenient on what I'd constitute as an echo, so they wouldn't all be full clones), but I can cut characters from the real-world Ultimate.
  1. Mario (Super Mario) [Echo: Dr. Mario]
  2. Luigi
  3. Peach
  4. Daisy (decloned)
  5. Bowser [Echo: Midbus]
  6. Bowser Junior
  7. Toad
  8. Waluigi

  14. Zelda
  15. Ganondorf
  16. Majora
  17. Impa
  18. Vaati

  20. Ridley
  21. Omega Metroid
