I thought it would be interesting to hear stories. ^_^

For me:
I always (always as in, you know, a LOT) got Young Link on random in Melee. It was soooo annoying cuz I sucked with him. When Brawl came out and I heard about Toon Link, I started picking him just to get used to it (probably be getting him on random in this game right?). Then I realized he was fun to play with and my sort of character. =P
So yup, I main Toon Link for a bad reason.

Share. >_>

I went to Pound 3 and played Jash in some friendlies. His Young Link was so beast that I decided to pick him up. I then went onto playing Toon Link in Brawl when it came out.

I mained Link in melee with young link as my secondary. Link sucks in brawl so I went with the latter and I've been a big Legend of Zelda fan since NES days.

I hope it counts that he's my "main" directly after Kirby...

In Melee, I liked Kirby-Young Link-Roy, and in Brawl I like Kirby-Toon Link-Ike

...in N64, I mained Kirby, with some Link...

In The Legend of Zelda (A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, The Windwaker (great game, though some nubs hate the grafix), and Twilight Princess, I mained Link/TL in those too ^_^

I hated Young Link in Melee. I mean, I liked the idea of a younger, faster version of Link but he was way too weak for me. I haaaated it. If he had more a bit more power, he'd be perfect for me.

I wasn't a fan of the Zelda series though. But when Wind Waker was first shown, I LOVED the graphics. While everyone was hating on it and called it Celda, I embraced it because I found the graphics amazing, like playing through a cartoon. I bought it (because it came out on my brother's birthday) and played through it. I was in love. Toon Link was such a charming character, quite expressive. His development through the game was really neat, and by the end I was sad it was over. After playing Wind Waker, I really hoped Toon Link would be in the next Smash. As I quote, "If Wind Waker Link is in the next Smash, I'm so maining him."

So when Brawl was announced, there were three characters I wanted the most: Red (PT), 'Wind Waker Link' and Takamaru. I got two out of my three most wanted characters, and I had supported them during Brawl character speculation, so I lived up to my promise and I main both of them. Toon Link may not be the original Wind Waker Link everyone had hoped for, but he was perfect for me. He was just what I asked for: a fast Link with a decent amount of power.

I love Toon Link. ^_^ Greatest Link in the series. >_> I was hoping I'd like Twilight Princess, but that bored me....

Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass for life. =)

No, you're not alone. My [casual] friend used him and I would always challenge with Link. I think Link has some good balance in Melee (unlike in Brawl), Young Link was way too weak to me and I use didn't like his extremely small range (especially since I mained Marth, lol). I would always win against him, but he said that Young Link was better. Then again, my friends said Roy was better than Marth. Set in my stubborn ways, I remained dedicated to the two guys I handpicked in Melee: Marth and Link.

I played Toon Link because a lot of people were saying early on that Toon Link was godly and stuff and I tried him out to see what all the hype was about.

I was not impressed. His moves were all quick, but he had short range, and was never quite safe on block (this was before we all decided to spam Zair). I tried using good old Link, but he feels so clunky now so I was a Marth-only user for a good few months or so (until early May) because I didn't really like using any of the other characters.

I started using Toon Link in Subspace with Marth and some others and I eventually grew to liking some of his qualities. Dair of course caught my eye in SSE. I gave him another try and because a lot of people still thought he would be top tier (some even saying he surpasses Marth), I decided to second him. I slowly came back to appreciating the bombs that I used to spam back in the day.

I lurked this boards for a while, and absorbed as much information as I could. I would then spend hours perfecting SHDA and Battlechrist trick and extensions to those before I even made my first post on Toon Link (in the thread where I ask if the Battlechrist trick is even remotely useful).

I slowly tried contributing to the boards and also getting critiqued in hopes of reaching the amount of skill of Kizzu and Santi (both held in high regard back in May and still now). Through thousands of battles, I eventually developed my own game style with Toon Link. It's not the best, but it's not the worst either I would believe. I continue to enjoy (okay, playing him kinda frustrates me to be honest: love-hate relationship, lol) playing him to this day. xD

/emotional story about Shota Link.

Aww Viets story is nice. =P

Sorry zaf I didn't see it. T_T
No worries, It exceeded the 3 page history on the toon link section. So there isnt really anyway you would of seen it, unless you were a toon main from the very start and posted here when the game came out. I dont think you were here, i dont remember seeing you. but i was off on the mk section a bit after that post lol..

Ever since Wind Waker, I was in love with TL's character. Still my favorite Zelda game, when brawl came out, I instantly started to main him. However, as time went on I stopped playing him for a while, and started looking for other characters. I thought choosing a main because I loved the game was pretty lame. So as I was going through the cast deciding who to main, I came back to TL and found I loved playing him and was actually good at it! I found out he is just my playstyle.

In melée I played with Yoshi and in Brawl is just too ... different.
So i was looking for a new Main, I found TL and ROB but the TL style corresponded more to mine that ROB style.
It's like that I've been playing TL ^^

Used to main Dedede, but after alot of practise i just wasnt feeling it. I was checking out all the other Chars for secondaries and i nearly went for sheik, but because the only way to kill is with a well timed aerial or a upsmash, and Chain jacketing just looked so lame compared to Tinks Bairs. I wasnt feeling her either (lol sounds wrong) so i decided to move on.

I hated the rest of the character roster.

So i decided i should actually complete SSE (THE worst story mode ever) which i hated to unlock toon link to see if i liked him or not. I already thought he looked cool so yeah. Unlocked, played like link did in melee, but had awesome cartoonish effects which make him badass. I was nearly put off by his taunts (rofl, compared to ddd's down... They suck) but i stuck with him and it just worked.

Easy to use, Hard to master, Funner to play brawl with. And the main thing with toon link is he has POTENTIAL. As other character boards are slowly dieing and not progressing, this character board is progressing and working together to make Toon Link the character he has the potential to be.

PS. I like Zelda games aswell :)

Giant Zelda fan, have all the Zelda games so I mained LInk in SSB, SSBM and SSBB. Then one day a Toon Link came along and 3 stocked me and I figured....well...it's still from the Zelda series. Ever since then I mained Toon Link. So much better fit for me since I can fly and kill people on recovery. I think TL's filled with helium...0_o.

I play Toon Link because Wind Waker is my favorite 3d Zelda along with Majora's Mask(first 3d Zelda now that I think about it), I seconded young link in Melee and when I first played him in Brawl I thought he was amazing so I stuck with him.

He is one of my original mains(Ike, Toon Link, and Pokemon Trainer) and since then I've added Wolf, Marth, and Lucario so I don't know if you could call them mains anymore, just a growing mix of characters I play.

In SSB I choose Link to be my main because of his sweet projectiles and kickbutt sword, so when Melee came out I tried YL and instantly felt more comfortable with his style of play. So when TL was announced i knew he was going to be my main without even 1st playing with him yet. >_<
I've never really played the Zelda games properly B4... I guess i Main TL because of my long history playing as Link/YL, his crazy projectiles, and nice aerials. Zair FTW
