How do I gain laser control in a falco ditto?

I typically like to use platforms to dodge their lasers first, and then do drop-through lasers. A lot of it is timing and positioning. If you're getting hit hard with lasers, try powershielding or sh (if their low) or full hop over them and approach suddenly. Focus on catching them off guard while they're spamming lasers, because a majority of the time they have the full lag of the shl that you can capitalize on.

Be like Han Solo and shoot first.

But really you just have to escape their lasers, or if they throw out something laggy, go on the offensive with your lasers and make sure they can't escape.

Learn to powershield and wavedash out VS. Falco/Fox Lasers imo, or watch Falco dittos. I know DaShizWiz made a thread with VODs; and I think Westballz has good laser approaches but idk how many VODs are out there of him ditto-ing.

Just like every other character, Falco benefits from powershielding the opponent's lasers. Hex mentioned wd'ing out after a powershield, but this is not trivial to do. Instead, I like to maintain laser control by firing a shot over the opponent's head. A high laser will catch him out of his jump before he can get another lasers out. As soon as that high laser hits, you are in control.

Damn, that's a good idea. It'll just barely poke him before he can get the laser out. Problem is that you'll probably get hit with the last laser he shot on your way down, resetting the neutral most likely, unless it flusters them.

Once the match starts I just Shine if I know they're gonna Laser First but that's usually take a little bit to adapt too, later in matches they'll just run up so you can get the first Laser. Mix that up and it will help you get the First Stock.

There are quite a few different interactions falco players can do.

I prefer powershielding and wavedashing out and powershielding again at far distances because you have to deal with two lasers.
In medium distances, you can powershield once and shl out of it
in short distances, you can powershield into nair or grab.

If they shoot low lasers, you can jump over and shl yourself or nair.
if you get hit by a laser, you can try jumping out or buffering a jump with cstick shield or try running back and either powershield or bair.
While obviously not the best thing to rely on, a lot of falco players tend to use early aerials after their laser hits when not immediately in front of you, so shield and then soos can be an option.
learning to jump waveland down on a platform to avoid lasers and come down with a shl of yourself can be helpful.
full hop dl or double jump double laser can be used to jump over their laser and come down with your own.

I wouldn't really recommend doing this, the lag on the reflector animation is super long and depending on the laser height, you could just get straight up punished (sffl nair/dairshine to death or really whatever else).
