How do YOU jump?

tap jump sadly is a huge problem arrow looping and all good pits have it turned off.
infact it hurts your looping so much that people just dont loop it at all because they are lazy and wont switch

For big jumps I use the analog stick but for short hopping I use Y.

Tap Jump off.
X for jumping (both short hopping and regular jumping)
Y for grabbing (since the Gamecube's Z button sucks balls!)

I use both up on the analog stick and Y. I can't SH fairs and nairs correctly with the analog and I can't FF my bairs if I jump with Y. All my big jumps are with the analog.

Using classic controller btw... Played around for a while with it and I lost all my brawl skills with the GC controller >_>' (but still can play melee as good as I've always had lol.)

I was just wondering for any competitive melee players or ones who were able to short hop consistently, what jump button do you use?

I could short hop consistently with almost every character using the y button, which is what I normally use, but I can only short hop about half the time with fox. Using x, I can short hop consistenly with him, but it feels extremely awkward to slide my finger off the side of x to short hop...


Anyways, yeah, I use y.
