Disclaimer: I know that full evaluation of the characters isn't possible until there has been more time to thoroughly test them. Consider this more of a "who do you intuitively feel is good" kind of thread, and not a "who is everyone definitely going to be playing at tournaments in a month" one.
Lucas: He seems quite good; probably slightly better than in Brawl, although with the same core strengths and weaknesses. Three of his specials are great, he has great kill power, has some great spacing and combo play, and really solid aerial game.
Roy: Despite him being my favourite by far of all the DLC characters released, I'm worried that he's in line to be the weakest. His weird spacing mechanic requires you to play him like a boxer, not a swordfighter, and he doesn't really gain much in terms of new tools to compensate. He has the same weaknesses as other sword users, but doesn't have the range, and his kill power is good, but not incredible. His recovery is...worrying, as well.
Ryu: It's too early to say, but I feel like this guy could be pretty insane. His combo game is obviously insane, and the ability to execute so many versions of his moves gives him a ridiculous ability to mess with opponents' timings. He also has an awesome approach projectile, great spacing tools, and his moves all seem to do SO MUCH DAMAGE. His only real weakness seems to be a sub par recovery, which is the thing that murders Little Mac. So we'll see how the meta develops, but if I had to bet, I could see him being the standout of the DLC releases, and a potential top tier.
