How to beat a really good Fox...

It seems to me like he has way too many inescapable combos. U-tilt for one, D-air > anything, it seems like a good fox can take me from 0% to 70% in ten seconds, it's ridiculous. So as a bunch of people who are good with Fox, what are his weaknesses? I use Meta Knigh by the way.

As a Fox user, i have discovered the greatness of Dair'ing Meta from the air into combos and Upsmasing him for an early kill.

Zelda, Lucas, Luigi and Pika are annoying as hell to fight as Fox. If you second them, id try them.

Metaknight should do alright against Fox. Grab ledge so he can't phantasm onto ledge when recovering, if you think we will phantasm onto stage (which he 90% will unless he knows you are mindgaming him) then use invinc frames back on and punish his lag after the phantasm. If he firefoxes simply FFdair him out of it. Shouldn't be too hard of a match up for MK.

but what if instead of fox using phantasm he does fair instead, he can also use that as a recovery as well.

Very interesting. Fox is quite a good character but is underrated now a days. I feel bad for him. But, a little secret on Fox: his shine does offer some invincibility frames. Useable with knowledge of it: No. Used while trying to K.O: Possible. It's something I fear for when I attempt to kill a Fox, that at just the right time, they shine and get invincibility frames just at the right second. But it is highly unlikely. It's just....
Interesting.

fox kinda suks at recovery, so if u knock him off and have some strong edge guarding skills, u will pwn him easily

Just give up. Fox is faster and killerer.

But seriously, the biggest gap between Fox and Metaknight in MK's favor is that although Fox has a decent recovery, MK's wall-of-pain style of edgeguarding can sometimes be the chink in a Fox's armor.

1. make sure your not getting comboed in your sheild. If you shield and hes behind you when he lands with his d-air, just roll.
2. make sure you block his "combos". A lot of the time you can block the Up tilt after the D air, he has to time everything perfectly for it to be unblockable. The trick for you is that you cant just hold sheild you have to press it as soon as it's available. It takes practice but once you get it down you remove about 50% of his combo potential. This works for every d air combo, if you can time your sheild you can block his next attack, unless he spaced perfectly and timed everthing (including his fast fall) perfectly.
3.ignoring the D air for a moment, he cant combo you. You beat him EVERYWHERE. If you just got thrown and hes chasing you, throw an attack. In the air you have more prioity, range, and speed. He can't beat you with ANYTHING. The only option he has is to force you to attack and then punish afterwards.
4. Make sure he really is attacking. Fox can't beat you anywhere, the only time you have enough lag that he can actually mount an attack is when your in lag from another move. So try defensive stuff instead of trying to counter attack him. Dont fall for the bait all the time.
5.Spam B, fox doesnt have a very good option for stopping the nado, use it, ALOT
6.play on battlefield, or anywhere with platforms.
7.Make sure you save your kill moves for killing.
8.Dont be afraid to get sheild grabed. He can't do jack with his grabs. No kills, no combos, no nothing.
9.Spam up b and glide attacks. he really doesnt have an option to stop this either. Use it for the random chance of killing him with it.
10.Dont die from running up smashes....
11.dont die from random up smashes....
12.only die from perfectly comboed drills into upsmashes. once he realises thats the ONLY way he's getting a low percent kill, hes either going to go for more damage or hes going to throw out too many drills which are punishable.
13.If he tries to ledge gaurd you... KILL HIM. He can't obviously, he should know that but meh, he might get cocky.

look behind you...
while playing a lvl 9 pit wit fox i actually had a few troubles winning. i can easily beat him with another one of my mains however. i just thought maybe pit would be good against fox. pit has fox beat in aerial attacks and recovery, and his smashes are pretty good and fast. pit can akso interupt fox while recovering with his nueteral b ( his bow) and since fox falls the fastest than any character it can resul to a ko

among the figments of your imagination
If at all possible, make fox approach you, though that may be difficult for Mk who has no projectile and no reflector or absorber. A really good Fox player will try to trick you into a combo. they will feign one thing and do another, confusing their opponent and exploiting the subsequent opening. Where MK has a little slack here is his incredibly quick and high-priority attacks, this gives Fox far fewer opportunities to exploit. What MK needs to avoid is any free-fall moments after B moves in the air, they are the times MK is most vulnerable to Fox who is quick enough on his feet to catch you and exploit you when as you fall. Also, MK is slow in the air, a good Fox can take advantage of a slow recovery, Luckily MK has his air moves to cover him, Just be careful off the stage against Fox. I can't think of anything more right now.

DI correctly and space yourself.

Dair "combos" are escapable and the Dair itself has basically no horizontal range.

Well, yeah, if the Fox is terrible, go for it. Funny thing is that most Foxes are, so it doesn't even matter.
