I almost prefer the Wiimote/Nunchuk combo ... =\

So, call me a noob, but the Wiimote/Nunhuk combo feels more natural to me than the gamecube did. I got his wierd boost in skill in the transfer, like I could only barely kill a lvl 9 in Melee, now I can beat any bot in the game. I guess its just a testament to Brawl's slower, "less pro" atmosphere, but I definenty got better than all my firends, save one. (All could beat me in Melee before.)

It just feels a little easier to pull off a smash on the Wiimote than on the wavebird, despite the C-stick. I mapped the shield to Z and the grab to C on the Chuck, and jump to down, strangely enough, on the d-pad, so my thumb can reach it quickly should I have to do a quick jump from the A button.

Anyone else agree? You guys are all more used to Melee, so I doubt you would...

There's nothing noobish in that.

In fact, the Nunchuck combination will most likely be the most useful (in terms of competitiveness) controller, now that you have to shield by pressing the button all the way down, and for some other minor differences.

the same thing goes for me too actually...
except i mapped Special to down and Jump to the sides.
it's just weird to use what used to be my shield button for my special >_>

The only reason I'm probably going back to a classic controller is because of the right thumbstick, I need that to see if I really like sonic.

I played with the GameCube controller for the first few hours of morning since picking up the game at a midnight release. That Sunday afternoon, when playing with my sister, I gave her the Cube controller and decided to try the Wiimote/Nunchuck combo. Since then, I've stuck to Wiimote/Nunchuck regardless of whether I'm playing solo or multiplayer.

Heck, I even tried out playing Wiimote-only and liked it.

Wherever McFox tells me I am.
I configured the buttons the same way you did, and it worked fine.

Then for old times sake I plugged in the the GC controller, and I'm not going back to the MoteChuck.

<EDIT>
I feel I should elaborate. I need the C-Stick. I tried the Shake Smash thing, but it's not worth the accidental smashes.

I use the Wiimote+Nunchuck for SSE, because it's easier to have wireless, but for versus it's GC all the way.

I couldn't get use to the Wiimote controls; Gamecube is just more comfortable for me. I turned off tap jumping and mapped grab to X (I use Y to jump) and I love it. Couldn't get used to jumping on the left side of my hand or using the DPad on the wiimote...for anything (it's in a horrible position for constant use.)

The only problem I have with the wiimote + nunchuck combination is that pulling off a short hop is hard. The idea you suggested, though, about having the jump button on the down dpad might actually be better, I'll have to try it out.

I really enjoy playing with my Wii-mote and Nunchuck on Brawl. At first, I felt a bit confused in what I was doing, but after a few games, I got the hang of it. I never thought of using jump as the down button, I just short jump by using the left analog.

I think anyone that is using wiimote/nunchuck has the same configuration as you. You aren't the first to come up with it, but congratulations anyway
