What do you guys do when you feel like you're constantly getting worse at this game? I try to fight everyday. I was even a decent player at one point. Eventually I got back to the point where I suck complete and utter ballsack now.

Answer me this: how do you improve when you're in a horrible slump?

I don't know what to tell you from a technical point of view, but the best advice I'm able to give you is to not give up. Hey, good luck!

When you get caught in a slump, the best thing to do is halt the damage and take a break from the game for a few days. Don't even give the game a thought, and wait until you get a huge craving to play the game again. You'll pick up the game and do even better than you have before.

Its like the mind reboots itself.

Between maining every single character at one point in time and geting stuck in this situation myself I can help.

#1 STOP BRAWLING ALL OF THE TIME!!!! If you Brawl all of the time and you keep on losing you will get overly deffensive. Start Brawling a lot again when the below is complete.

#2 You either need to all tech's or relearn them. To do so just put yourself in a situation that forces you to use the new tech. This is also good for breaking bad habbits.
ie Roll Dodge spam
To break this just play a few lvl CPU's matches and do NOT roll once.

#3 Play a lvl 1 CPU and work up after the accomplish #2.
(Just as a useful word of advise.)
Watch other MK mains that are really good so you can learn from them. There is a lot of MK mains but try and watch M2K and Dojo (my two fave MK mains).

kk... now you should have your zing back.

Well, I was going to suggest trying a different main if your current one isnt working out....but then I saw you main metaknight.....wth?

Anyway, as stated, take a break. Seriously, it will clear your mind. Maybe search around the boards a bit, go outside, do something other than play. Then when you feel refreshed ready start again. Good luck!

Play Melee.

In all seriousness, just take a break for a while. Do something else. Afterward, come back and play Brawl again. That's what works for me anyway.

alright, man. No worries, I've been there before. And I have a horrible temper, so that never made it any better. lol.

I'm not familiar with your training techniques or whatever, but I often fight lvl 9's as practice, along with occasionally facing my brother in a few sets at a time.

When I'm doing bad, it's usually because I'm either having a bad day (or WEEK, for that matter) or I 'm really rusty. (I get rusty if I don't play for a week or two.)

My advise is to calm down, compose yourself, and switch it up a bit. Maybe facing a little lower level of CPU for the day (for example, instead of lvl 9's, try 8 or even 7). Also, fight against characters that you understand more deeply; or rather, characters that you have alot of experience against. Another method I've found that helps me to improve is to browse the Internet, specifically here at SmashBoards, or over at YouTube. Watch vids of people that are famous for playing your character good, and study their play styles. Develop little tricks they use to make your game more solid.

Anyway, hope that helped.
