Why are you even here? All you did on these forums was come in, claim something was easy when a seasoned veteran said it was not, and then tried to defend your statements with wide generalizations and "I have played good Olimars."

Get the **** out.

You are such a good 'Smash Debater.'

"plz get out lol"

Go debate somewhere else ty, all I said was ROB vs Olimar IMO isn't that bad, sorry your butt got hurt over that little statement. Why don't you go back and sit on JC's lap.

Stop telling people that they're unworthy of... I don't really know what, you're kind of just stomping on his balls for no real reason. But anyway, if you're going to bring up dumb **** like, "You're a fanboy because you think JC is better/more knowledgeable than my nobody *** with an uncreative, meaningless, generic name (woah. I can make low blows that don't mean anything, too!)," then just go to another board.

Also, JC does have real tourney experience and actually places. I think that one of the top ROBs knows the match-up more than some Fox main who's probably still angsty that his space animal buddy got nerfed.

Did I mention that you have a lame name?

That's right, that's all you did. And you didn't even do it confidently, diplomatically. or knowledgeably, all the while making a douchebag of yourself.

Daaaamn Ruse got mad ****talking skillz!

Smashbros99 I'd gladly debate the matchup with you but so far you've provided no evidence whatsoever to back up your opinion, and you basically admitted that the Olis you play are no name players. I'm sorry, but without tourney experience it's highly unlikely that they're playing at the same level as the Olis I've played.

Yes you have fanboys, as soon as I say one thing they hop off your **** and down my throat, lol.

I guess you really don't understand the mechanics of forum discussion. If you don't want "fanboys" jumping down your throat, or people "interfering" with your "discussion," perhaps you should have sent a private message. In fact, that probably would have been a better idea than displaying your stupidity publicly like this.

By the way, anyone who walks into a forum and tells one of the top contributors that they don't play their character right (especially without any reputation to back themselves up with) can only be described as a n00b. Plain and simple.

Totally.

I just don't see why this guy insists that he's right when he has absolutely nothing to back him up. It's obnoxious.

You guys are right I should SO play this game seriously and try to make a name for myself.

or you know, have a life.

Hmmmm

JC is good I was kidding about the not knowing how to use ROB. Are the rest of you that good too or just agreeing with someone better than you all?

No one said that. We're just saying you're dumb enough to talk about something you obviously know nothing about. There's absolutely nothing wrong with not knowing something, just don't pretend like you do.

I came in here, stated that "I don't have trouble with Olimar" then everyone is like LOL WELL PLAY GOOD ONES AND I'M BETTER THAN YOU SO NO IT'S EASY!

I just started using ROB, and I probably don't play the BEST people, but so what?

Olimar is an easy matchup for me.

No I don't play "well known" Olimars.

Ok, well it's still easy for me.

And as I said in like...2 of my other posts, I know JC is good and I was being sarcastic when I said he didn't know how to use ROB. lol

Against aggro-Oli...

Pivot Grab > Grab Release > Down Tilt > Grab (Or a rising fair)... etc. After which, a fair fairs and a gyro will get the job done.

I find this works if your at a tourney and you open your set with ROB. Oli doesn't expect it coming right of the bat, but after a few times, it'll get predictable.

Just an observation...

Sudai, do you ever not own someone on the R.O.B. boards?
Yes I obviously got "owned". Grow up, unless you are like 10, then keep doing what your doing.

So, why is it a hard matchup when faced against a "good" Olimar player? You know, incase I ever play one.

Woah, you're calling my actions immature based off two posts I've made over the internet where I bashed your name, sarcastically bashed, I might add? That's quite intelligent. It doesn't actually matter if you have a lame name, I was obviously (maybe not to you) just doing it to compare it to your unnecessary and mindless stomping on people for liking/respecting/etc. JC.

It's not a hard match-up in my opinion, but it's not as simple as you make it out to be, and you definitely don't just use fair until they're off the stage. I'm pretty sure it's somewhere between 55-45 and 60-40 in R.O.B.'s favor, but could be wrong, that's why I was lurking this thread, at first, to see what the top R.O.B.s had to say.

I'm not super knowledgeable or good at describing what to do to others. I also don't get to fight top Olimar's, but I honestly don't think the match-up is too difficult. Instead of being a loud-mouthed idiot who doesn't actually know anything specific, I just keep quiet generally, observe, learn, and sometimes comment on s***.

Guess I'm a ten-year-old.

What good Olimars have you played? I've played BlackWaltz and I play Pyronic Star pretty regularly.

I didn't know CT had any good Olis. The only good one I know of up that way is Starzonedge, but I'm not sure exactly what state he's in.

Edit: I don't have fanboys, I have tourney results ^_^
This. I've played Blackwaltz... online and stuff and we were both sandbagging and not using our whole moveset (wi-fi Johnz). If you can get an Olimar offstage and f-air him 567 times for the KO...WITHOUT him using whistle armor to fuggz you, without having to back off to read DI, play any sort of mindgames with the Robo-Burner, or some other random ish happening... you are either A) The most ridiculously good smash player in the history of all smash, or B) they aren't that good.

But hey, Ceasar... any tips against Waltz' Olimar? I played him a few months ago and wiped the floor with him, and then we played again the other day and he thoroughly trounced me the first few games before I started to adjust. So, any tips is appreciated, brah.

I dunno, I only played him on teams in a tourney, and we lost :ohwell:

Don't attack his shield, that's just asking to eat a 20%+ grab combo. Grab a lot instead. And the only way you'll gimp a good Oli is if they screw up and miss a whistle armor or DI really bad.

Oh I forgot to mention another big-name Olimar I've played, NC-Echo. That was in teams also, and we won that one :bee:

Suck it Karn! Echo's teammate

I might read this later.

Now that people are giving examples I can see from their point of view, thank you.

The problem with Olimar tends to be that his grab game is ridiculous, his smashes are spammable, his u-air ***** ROB's weak spot, and his whistle armor makes him harder to gimp than the average character. How well your opponent utilizes these strengths determines the difficulty of the matchup.

Echo squanders in tournament. @_@ He played soooo much better in those friendlies.

Anyways, I think ROB has the advantage in this match up, but only a slight one.

Grabs are really good. Throw him off the edge and rack up damage. You probably won't gimp him if he's smart but you should get a decent amount of damage. Fair also knocks off all of the pikmin on you 90% of the time. Out-camping Olimar is doable if you just wait until he picks more pikmin or when he throws yellows if you're far away. Otherwise just fair them immediately and you don't take damage. Just watch out for purples. Approaching is difficult, but the payout is so high. ROB has a big advantage after he knocks Olimar away. It's really hard for him to get away from pressure once you're on him.

I beat echo in tournament consistently. He's my roommate, but we don't really ever play that match-up anymore (because I don't play ROB outside of tournament much anymore).
