Also, in brawl there are a lot of gliches/advance tecniques, like the B-stic, picachu's quick attack cancel, inhale against ike's quick draw, lucas down-B wavedash (and probably waveland)... and tons more. Brawl may have No combos, but if you take in mind you can only combo bad people (bad DI) i think that makes it more competitive (combos may take skills, but doges+DI+mind_games+punishments+edge_guards= TONS of more skill than combos).
The only problem i see is tripping, but at least makes risky Dashdance and foxtrot

you obliviously didn't get it, i mean it have a lot of competitive potential, and if brawl didn't have it, then the tournament mode wont be even included.

answering your question, cause can be competitive

No, my good sir, that's NOT why they have a tournament mode. They have a tournament mode so you and your 6 friends can sit in your bedroom and start a mini tourney so at the end when it says "You are the Champion!" you feel good about yourself winning a tourney.

Oh no, but let's just go by your logic. SSB64 was TOTALLY not competitive. You're right.

taking in mind it had tons of infinite/unfair combos, hitstun, almost no DI, and the HUGE diference between ness and link, yes

In Melee you had to DI out of combos, in Brawl you DI into attacks. It's different, and it might even require EQUAL (definitely not more) skill, but it's certainly less exciting!

I would respond to this without sarcasm if your spelling wasn't horrendous.

Wait... most of that sounds like a game I've played.... oh right, Melee had all of that (except no DI.) Oh yeah, Link and Ness are two different characters in case you didn't notice, I guess that's what makes them DIFFERENT.

Wanna know why there are tournament modes in games? Because programming that into a game is easy. Wanna give your game an extra feature? Oh **** it's tournament mode. Ever go to a real tournament? They don't use tournament mode.

well in melee you can't do mario's d-air and downb and do a totally easy 70%, at least waveshine and used a little of skill and TONS of the melee combos you had the chance of if break from them (but in brawl it get even easier to break of combos), also the differences between a very weak teenager hokiri and the earthbound psy user were SO big i could defeat the clasic mode in very hard whit out losing a life my FIRST time i used ness (and i did mained link for a wile in 64 and couldn't beat very hard classic whit no continues).

also i think i need to change the tittle of the treat...

Actually, it's kinda funny you say that, because the pre-release tournament at my local Gamestop actually DID use tournament mode for their competition...

Of course, because of that, there were a few interesting problems that came up (for example, there was one person who wanted to play as Zero Suit Samus, but wasn't able to since nobody knew how to start as her from the tournament mode setup screen, and they couldn't use the taunt methoud to switch fast enough since matches were only a minute...).

EDIT: It also meant we could only play on the battlefield, but I don't think anyone minded that...

Waveshine is an infinite combo. The point of certain combo's in Melee is that they AREN'T escapable. If it's so easy to DI out of attacks in Brawl why are you complaining that Mario's d-air and down-special can rack up an easy 70%? Link is NOT a KOKIRI (doesn't start with an H, get it right) he just lives with them. Also, it's called Very Hard because it's VERY HARD. The way you talk it sounds like the computer must have walked off the edge every match while you played Ness.

That's because Gamestop fails at running tournaments, only has 1 setup, and their employees are normally dumb as a rock, mine ran it on tournament mode and couldn't keep track of 32 people because they were trying to run an alternate bracket along with tournament mode.

Glitches and advanced techniques aren't the most important things about a game. The most important thing is the core mechanics.

Brawl can be competitive, but it isn't really targeted towards the competitive. That's me take on it at least.
