High Tier? Probably not. Mid Tier is my guess.

Ike's really only overrated by the Smash newcomers (see what I did there?). But he's kind of underrated by everyone else. Playing Ike more defensively takes advantage of how good of a punisher he is.
after playing him and making Ike a part of my secondary team i've relized that he will most likely be mid tier, and is not overpowered, but will still say this, is he pretty over-rated

And i will say this, usually reading a user's posts tells you if he's a noob. Look at Gimpy or M2K post. That is the epitome of the elite. You are on the lower end of *** for brains.

Sure, Ike may be slow, but is easily the most powerful character in the game, and i find him to be WAY OVERRATED! He will definatly be high tier, I don't ever use Ike at all! But seriously, he is OVERRATED! :dizzy:
try acutally getting good with him...pit is a spammer! everyone has something nobody likes okay? Ike just fights for his freinds, is that so bad? He is not overatted he deserves every good comment he gets....on the other hand he derserves almost every bad comment he gets..lol

you can't tell if somebody is a noob by what they say, CHALLENGE THEM! =)

haha, you can't prove somebody is a noob by looking at there posts! the only way to tell if somebody is a noob is if you played against them, not because of what they say :) how about this, wi-fi match in 2 weeks =) we'll see whos the noob =) just PM me and i'll get back at ya! :)

This thread is going nowhere fast.

Ike is overrated sure, but he's not overpowered. Each of his "Overpowered" attacks have long charge up times (His F-Smash, the common example, even if you use the C-Stick it takes 4 seconds to charge) and you can easily roll out of the way or hit him with a attack that will cancel out his F-Smash (Use an arrow, Pitmasta, or Angel Ring)

He's still not as broken as Olimar though, but I'll leave that topic for another day.

This topic is idiotic. Ike was initially overrated until people realized "oh wait, his moves have an incredibly long lag period and are all easily avoidable if you have half a brain". Since then, hes not been overpowered, more of a tool of the wifi newbs that enjoy spamming side+B and smash spamming with the exception of a few good players. Ike quickly fell back to the ranks of mid tier as soon as people got some practice in the game.

This is a bit more of a basic response that kind of covers everyone talking about characters being overpowered. You're just not good against that character with your own, and need to get better and train to selectively practice against (Ike) them. Any character can beat another, it all (Emphasis on 'all') depends on skill, not character power.

You think Ike is overpowered? Look at Snake; he's more overpowering than even the bulkiest heavy weights.
i've relized this, as i have added him to my secondary team! i play with him quite often now...so once in for all, STOP QUOTING MY DUMB POST! THAT POST IS WEEKS OLD! IKE IS NOT OVERPOWERED!

Ok 1st thing, Ike is sort of overrated, but notice that there are either noobs or pros behind the controller, no "sort of skilled" so I won't complain about overpowerment, 2 don't cry if you use a character that you want a challenge with, pit pwns ike whether it's projectile abusing noobs, or air fighting pros.
Ike's quick draw has enough frames for any half decent player to jump before he makes his approach, all you have to watch out for is the "Grand Viper" after he misses (easily solved by pit's girly angel wings)
So please...Use your character get mastablasta at him before using a "challenge" character.

Why is it that Ike users dislike being called "overpowered"? The fact is, Ike is rediculously strong (power) AND rediculously slow. I won't take many hits from him, but if he lands even 3, 4, at maximum 5 hits, I am very lucky if I don't die outright. Whereas to defeat Ike, I either have to get him to 160%, or edgegaurd one of the highest-priorty recoveries in the game through a disjointed hitbox. Ike can only be anything less than among the most deadly characters in the game in the metagame in a 1 v. 1 match. Otherwise, Ike's fling is rediculous, and his slow speed a godsend for anyone who hopes to challenge him.

Ike becomes a juggernaut in the right hands, in the wrong hands he is a slow punching bag.

Ike is very deadly in a decent players hands..who knows how to use him..any good player who knows how to space well can utilize Ike to his fullest...his sword is awesome..not so awesome if you see it coming at your face. Also he has a lot of superarmor and his a combo is quite nice when coming off a quickdraw..

Ike is never overpowered. Not to lie but everytime I hear that is when they cant dodge and are getting tagged by Ike's blade. Ike is a beast everyone knows it. I have a dream that one Ike will be top-tier cuz the only thing holding him back it his speed. And all those Pit and Samus players, they can float around all they want but they will eventually come close and at that time they will be smashed by Ike.
