Off topic much guys?

I think we need a spanish only room, no offence loxx, but your english needs practice.

Pero mi espanol es lo mismo

a spanish room would kick.

anyway, aho, I'm a nub, and I am very jealous.

I live in south central PA, not far away, but far enough for me for a lot of reasons.

well this is how i interpret it, brawl is slower and faster at the same time
i say this because everyones floatier making the game slower..... but then (if you dont LC and WD in melee) brawl is a bit quicker joining attacks, i dont know if that makes any sense at all
but i think you sorta need to feel it out for yourself

i would say in the end that brawl is a slower paced game than melee without taking away the on-the-edge-of-your-seat-ness.....i am not making any sense .... im going to sleep =_=

No.

Some aerials have been changed, however. Some people lag less on landing, others lag more. But overall, no.

I got Brawl midnight and played it untill 6am w/ friends. We came to the conclusion that BRAWL SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that everything is out its insanely slower and so floaty, no fast fallers and edge hogging is pretty much useless. Melee is the better game

It's a different game, get used to it, if you play Brawl for 1 year and then go playing Melee, you will think Melee is WAY too fast, just try to adapt to the game, and if it doesn't work that well, just keep on playing Melee.

Edit: Also, people, I think we do not need any more explanations about why Brawl is slower, it's common fact that it's slower and floatier and we ALL know that L-cancelling, wavedashing and long dashdances are out, so contribute to the thread in a good way instead of typing something we ALL know and 100.000 other people have already stated...

Drawing a conclusion about a fighting game in less than 12 hours, that's what sucks. Failure...

I got Brawl Saturday morning and have played it virtually non-stop with my friends until 8 PM today, and we like it more than Melee so far. Yes it's more floaty and slower, so? I can still pull of combos, though they may not be as extravegant as Melee, it's still awesome, and the more I get used to it the easier it will probably be to string attacks.

L cancelling was annoying. Why press a button after every arial instead of just having the game have set lag, whether that be short lag or slow lag, because that way it would be the same as every person L cancelling to begin with. I hated pressing L over and over in Melee.

But yeah, my point is you can't come to a conclusion that fast against a game you're oviously being biast toward.

I played brawl for almost 2 days with friends.I learned shield dashing and the turn grabs pretty good. The game sucks.I dont feel like the characters have any traction or control. The game feels choppy and slow like nothing i ever experianced in a good fighting game.

There is such a thing as a bad game.Just because a game is new and different doesnt mean itll get better over time."That those who complain are just not giving the game a proper chance."

Im going to keep playing brawl for awhile longer since my friends are interested for the time being.

But.. I have that funny feeling like I will be wasting my time. Then again I could be wrong. This is just an opinion.

mind game > tech skill
This is the argument that you were basically making and one that many make. The fact is though, that skill in Melee is determined by your ability to employ strategyas WELL as your ability to use advanced techs. Ask Gimpy or PC Chris if advanced techs aren't important.

Advanced techs = mind games

At least in Melee. You can't expect to compete in the current Melee metagame without knowing advanced techs. There are simply no good Melee players who play strictly by mind games. It's impossible.

In Brawl, "mind games" are essentially all we have since few meaningful advanced techs have been discovered as of yet.
This means that yes we can compete in Brawl, but nowhere near the level at which we can compete in Melee. The competitive level of Brawl hinges on the discovery of game breaking advanced techs.

SSB64 was faster than brawl...
No.

tech skill > mindgames if u main falco. lol

brawl isnt even really about mindgames as much as it is spacing and not being stupid... at least thats what i'm noticing so far playing with my nub friends
Maybe you should play with somebody who will give you a run for your money, so as to force you to use mindgames...

All of you are saying that "ohhh l-canceling is annoying and wavedashing was too hard" because you've probably never played competitively. Brawl is a good game but not for competition.

Hate to be nitpicky but its TEC Chris.
Chris left PC loooong ago.

But yes mind games=advanced techniques.
One cannot be greater than he other because often the usage of both are required if you are to make use of their potential.

I've been playing nearly non-stop since I picked up the game at 1 AM. Honestly, I really think the only thing slower than in Melee is the falling speed. That's a huge part of the game, though, especially for certain characters. The new feel of Brawl, though, has begun to be normal. For the first 2 hours or so, it was just a cluster**** of button smashing, but then it just clicked.

thats a good point, but i really dont like that edge hogging is pretty much dead now. Its hard to get to the edge and not get hit because ur character moves too slow

I was edge hogging a lot of people last night when I was playing.

Edge Hogging in no way is dead, just there are times where it's better to just stay on the stage and attack them back like DeDeDe's recovery, or just go out there and hit them like say marths recovery.

Falco isn't that technical. I think mindgames would be even more important for Falco because if someone reads you, they can hit you back hard and kill you just like that.

me playing Ike and him being strong and fast all you have to do is land in the middle of an aerial you can't notice the difference!
