As of the lattest update, Kirby's D-Throw now deals 10% damage, pairing it with U-Throw in terms of damage, is it now more viable than it was before?

We need to wait and see if his Back Throw KOs earlier than before. Up Throw is good for KOing vertically and it always will be, and if Back Air does KO early, then we'll want to save it and not have it be staled. Forward Throw is better for setting up, but Down Throw's damage buff will come in handy, I think.

Well we still don't have any D-throw combos, but I guess D-throw sends the opponents in an angle where it's easier to follow up than from U-throw. I haven't tried D-throw out that much, but I guess I'll have to test it a bit now that it does more damage.

Well, why not? It sends them high into the air at mid-high%, keeps you grounded (so you can chase), and stops U-throw from getting stale. You can't follow up directly, but it's not like we have anything that usually directly follows up anyway.

It's all about maintaining and creating options!

I feel like this change makes it so that you can use any throw you want, and none of them are noticeably more or less optimal. I avoided Dthrow entirely because of its low damage, but now it seems roughly as good as Upthrow at certain percents, with the additional benefit of not staling Upthrow KO potential. I think the bit about Dthrow Izaw mentioned in his Kirby video is now more relevant as well.

Semi-related, but does anyone else ever do Backthrow->Final Cutter (default)? I use this all the time (on For Glory) and on certain characters, at certain percents (usually 10-30ish) it absolutely feels like a true combo. Final Cutter has a bit of startup, but it seems like Bthrow has enough hitstun that you'll reach them with the blade, and the Final Cutter combo does a nice 12% damage so it racks damage up quite nicely. I don't think I've ever seen it mentioned here though, so I was wondering if anyone has tried it, or if it's dodgable, etc.

Probably if i where to try that, i would end up looking at the opposite side, but it actually sounds like it would be combo-able, i should try that out

It was a much needed buff. It went from being completely useless to our best throw for damage.
It actually does more damage than Up Throw. Down Throw does 10.2%, Up Throw does 10%. Every bit counts :4kirby:

Now we can keep Up Throw from getting stale and save it for potential KOs. Bthrow and Fthrow are still useful for low % combos on some characters and Bthrow is a decent KO option near the ledge.

Yeah, i do that all the time. I'm hesitant to call it a true combo cause it's for glory but it's usually reliable at low percents on most characters.

I'm glad dthrow got the damage buff but it doesn't matter a whole lot cause his throws are still pretty useless for followups or kos.

I was going to ask you this the other day, but I didn't want to ask a dumb question lol. This does feel like it catches certain characters in hitstun at around the mid 20's.

I rarely got KOs from U-throw, so I used to use that if I wanted a little extra damage when getting a grab. Even at that, I would still D-throw because I liked the trajectory and for using a Throw that ended with Kirby standing on the ground.

Now that the damage has been increased, D-throw is no longer an unimportant Throw option... in fact, it's probably Kirby's best general Throw. F-throw/B-throw are specific to low percents or for sending a character at a more horizontal angle (back or forward as necessary). U-throw no longer need be used for damage-building and can be kept fresh for possible KO options.

I want to say this buff helps a lot with Kirby's Throwing but that may be stretching things a bit. While the extra damage helps, U-throw rarely nets me KOs, so if I really wanted damage U-throw was always an option anyway.

However... I really like stomping on my opponents. So for me, this buff was a godsend. XD

Yea it's awesome,
I too use Bthrow to final cutter on FG
It is pretty cool, I do sometimes use final cutter to edge gaurs and meteor the opponent(if only it always happened because the dumb beam always screws it up with very few exceptions)
But yea DThrow is now one of his best throws and it's great damage can be used like in brawl.

I thought it already was viable... It was a good setup, just like his F-Throw. The only difference is it does more damage now, which is awesome.

Right? There was so much going against Down Throw, but it just looks so cool that I had to use it.

Yeah, the Down Throw is definitely an amazing throw now. There's still cooldown on it, so Forward Throw is still a very good option, but this is great for adding damage without staling the Up Throw or Back Throw. It's great!

True that, it's awesome, it's actually his most damaging throw if I am correct, I know there was a time it actually did 12%
It's cool :)

It's not really the most damaging throw, and Up throw does the same amount of damage

I honestly always believed that DThrow was viable for Kirby. For some reason I always baited an airdodge out of my opponent, then caught him with UAir juggles, not like it had always worked though. :4kirby:
