Since somebody mentioned it on the Y>X thread, I'm making an L<R Thread.

What do you guys prefer to use, L or R? Do you know what the majority of people use? Do you know what the pros use?

Discuss personal preference, advantages, and etc.

By the way, I use R.

R and only R... left hand is too uncoordinated to trust with anything but the Control stick.

The only time I use L is for wavedashing in shield (L = shield, R = wavedash).

I use the L-Shoulder to L-Cancel. R is for wavedashing and teching.

L for everything. My right finger rests on Z.

Funny thing is.. my L trigger is almost dead, so I need a new controller. I was thinking about switching to R, but once you get used to one, it's impossible to go to another.

L for l canceling, R for everything else.

Though after I got back into SSB64 I've found myself randomly shielding with L a lot lol. So confusing. @_@

I'm trying to switch my shield to L, so that I always at any point have the option to WD out. I already use it to L-cancel, but everything else, I like to use R.

I like using the L button, because I used it since I played Super Smash 64. So I don't think I should change it. I almost NEVER use R, which is one of my setbacks.

I don't know why, but I've always used L for everything, including shielding, rolling, wavedashing, and even WDing out of shield. >_>

Maybe it was cause of SSB64 but I was a horrible noob when I played 64 so I dunno...

I can only use L. I played SSB64 so much, and played it right up until Melee came out, so I used the same index finger to shield/roll. Also, I find it easier to coordinate L + control stick when I'm doing it with one hand. It just seems so much easier to move the index finger and thumb at the same time when they're on the same hand. I don't even use R to wavedash out of shield. I just release the L button as I jump. :p

I can't wavedash at all using L, so I have to use R. I can roll, L-cancel, and airdodge with L, but I tend to just use R for everything. I figure there's not really an advantage of one over the other, so I just stick with the one that I'm used to.

For wavedashing out of shield, I use R for both shield and airdodge, but it'd probably be easier if I used both L and R. I might try getting used to it sometime.

I use R, but i found something funny a while ago.

If you want to get extremely technical, L > R without any shadow of a doubt.

Why?

In the off chance that you shieldtoggle, L does not require any kind of change in your hand position, while R requires you to move your index or middle finger up so you have 1 on R and 1 on Z.

Small, small detail; but it's the ONE advantage of using L vs R, imo.

I use L for wavedashing. There should be another topic called L<R, L>R imo
QmyselfFT, although it was a joke

I use both.
Wavedashing - L
L-Cancel - L
Shielding (out of the wavedash) - R
Teching - R
Lightshielding i.e. out of the roll - Z
Shieldtoggling - R
Win - up dpad
