Yeah, I've had a similiar experience only it usually ends in them thinking Mario is cheap because he can edgeguard so well. If FLUDD and cape don't do the job he always has the meteor against Snake and such. I love Mario because no matter what character you pick, Mario has some way to screw you while your getting back to the stage.

I still want to learn how to FLUDD people under the stage, I saw that in a combo video and I've wanted to pull it off in a match ever since. There's so many vague applications for FLUDD it's almost hilarious. There's so many people I've seen who think FLUDD is useless.

The original 12 deserve a lot more respect

Pikachu and Kirby are both seen as very good characters, but don't get that much attention compared to characters like Falco and Game and Watch
Donkey Kong only really gets talked about with relevance to Snake and Meta Knight
Most of Fox's attention goes towards Wolf and Falco
Luigi (and Ness I guess) aren't considered to be bad, but are mostly ignored
Ness, Mario, Samus, Link and Jigglypuff are in low tier, and are ignored because of it
Yoshi has a very loud fanbase here and gets discussed a lot as potential MK counter, but fits in with the category above for most people
Captain Falcon has a campy role, now enhanced by being the worst character in the game, but lacks genuine respect

And as for tiers, the best character of the original 12 is donkey kong, who is mainly up there for his matchups and is seen as bad by inexperienced players.

This ought to change in the next game. Respect your elders.

Hmmm... I agree with most of this, but I didn't think DK, Kirby or Pikachu were ignored so much... It's strange, considering how much potential they have.

I think ppl realise the ic are actually broken with they're huge damage moves, one not recieving damage on one of them and 0-death cg, so try to block them out.

mario doesn't get much competitive attention, but is the Mascot/default so he'll always have that.

You should check the tier list, Ice Climbers are listed pretty high in brawl. I think eventually there will be a boom in ice climber popularity- besides who can resist fuzzy little nana?!

I can understand if people are butthurt because she's now better than Captain Falcon but seriously, most everyone who plays her doesn't try now-a-days. I actually don't know the true reason why people dislike Jiggs.. I would take her over Yoshi anyday myself.
