I play Link in Melee, and I need help fighting Luigi and Link
any tips???

Jabs ***** Luigi & Link players.
Against Luigi, watch out for SH Double Airials. Use lots of Nairs and Bomb. Dont grab much, miss grab can result death or massvie damage taken. Simple combos, edge guard them with bombs rangs arrows. Nair off edge ***** them. Spam invinsibility frames when you have the edge when trying to hog. Nair FJ to Double Move or jump back ***** them. Watch out for Luigis Fair, Dair, Nair.

Against Link, be preapred to spot dodge Jab grabs such. Watch out for their CC to Up B. Up B out of sheild. When your opponent is hugging the wall going for a sweetspot, spaced Dtilt hits Link off his Up B then you can Punish. Same with Ftilt (someone correct me if im wrong). Keeping your boomerang out in this match up is key. Also when you see them recovering with chain (not sweatspot but below the edge) run off the nair, same when theyre going for an Up B but you have to run off and nair before they Up B. Approaching with shield is ****, you run towards them Shield, then his gonna attack then you do Up oos. Though dont do it all the time they can predict this and they might just grab you. Multiple Utilt ***** them, then Dair. Use simple combos Utilt Dair, Grab, Jab Dthrow Up B. When recovering be ready to tech if your hugging the wall. um ****..

Don't nair spam. Projectile spam. I haven't played a ganon in a while but iirc that fair will eat through your nair and you'll just get *****.

truth, but it will eat through you. Full jump nairs are safer but in all honesty I think a better startegy is what MattDotZeb does. Pew pew pew, roll away pew pew pew >.> except on link.

Good call stos, but I would like to add that when fighting luigi you cant excpect to pull out combos, you have play a little more with spacing and patience in mind. cause he's so floaty, you cant usually get in more then one or two powerful hits at high percentage.

yeah. this one is really important.
You cant expect combos all the time. Like against Luigi, jigs, yLink, yoshi (dont even bother youre just gonna get cc to something gay) and such.

you can light shield edge hog luigi, and really you shouldn't be letting ganondorf get out the fair, if he's getting the fair out, you're doing it wrong. Gdorf is one of the only characters link can actually safely pressure, so you should be doing that. U-tilt is great against him, utilt utilt short hop bair or utilt utilt pogo (really fun but not actually that useful). Also you can VERY easily edge guard with the ftilt he really can't sweet spot it.

I might be drawing on my Gdorf experience from a long time ago. Come to think of it I haven't had a problem with one for a long time.
One set, against icylight, barely 1 stocked him, then got 3 stocked both times. I'm not much better at adapting but I'm better period, haven't been ***** by a gdorf in a while.

ganondorf is sooo weak against vertical attacks since his dair is so slow and has less range than the up tilt
so up tilts, u-airs, and dairs are key.

he's heavy so you cant focus so much on outward kills as much as sending him up
don't sheild much either since getting grabbed is too risky (as said already)
so projectile spam in shielding's place. fight power with powerful projectiles (bomb)

wtf @ pressuring Ganondorf. He can SH bair out of shield, upB out of shield (you'd be surprised) and do tons of really stupid crap that can gimp you if you aren't careful. Shield pressure on dorf is spaced utilts/jabs and he can just roll away from it. It isn't as effective as people think, camping is a better option. You should camp vs dorf and don't get into the air with him above 50% unless you're below him. Otherwise he will kill you with uairs, fairs and bairs.

Spacing against him is stupid because the fair > Link but every other move he has < Link. You have to be either really fast in his face or campy, you have to play the extremes (X-tremes) or he'll **** your face. Ganondorf isn't an easy matchup.


Luigi is just weird. You can't rely on the sex kick because his is better and he can combo you out of it. You can't spam rang because Luigi has fast aerials and will just send it back and then hit you. Your best bet is hanging out with bombs and tossing boomerangs to disrupt his WDs. Don't try anything silly like a real combo (all you can do is uair -> wait for him to fall down -> uair some more) or missing a grab. Pick a stupid stage (Rainbow Cruise) to win it pretty easily, but on flatter stages good luck.

EDIT-To get in some specifics, throw alot of BOMBS as well. Ganon's aerials will eat through your boomerang.

I'd agree cause tilts ****, and if that doens't work sheik can just get a grab. gg. I actually nearly 0-deathed a sheik (as good as Link will at least) with uairs and such, but I took the stock off none the less. 1 Stock up with 12% on me. Grab -> dthrow^a ****ing billion. I forget what they did after that but that lead got stifled mighty quick I tell you what.
