A Galaxy stage could be mighty cool. Running around in 360 like that. You could kill people off the sides y'know, sorta. Couldn't exactly meteor smash them, but Smashing somebody hard enough diagonally would eventually pit 'em against the K.O. barrier.

There would have to be things that prevent people from camping of course, maybe the hole that allows you to jump through the center of the planet and appear on the other side. It would be fun to down sword stab someone with Link, who is falling into it from the other side. A little impractical, it would take forever to perfect a level like this, but I think it could be done.

I approve of a Mario Galaxy stage, but I don't think the core physics of the game should change, that's just a bit gimmicky...
Perhaps it could work like Brinstar depths, but continue rotating slowly in one direction. I think that would get the feel of Mario Galaxy across, without making the stage over complicated.
I agree with that, I think it would be cool to have a Mario Galaxy stage that rotates like Brinstar Depths

Just made this. I added it to my first post on this thread, as well.

The visible/playable area is inside the red dotted line, and the stage slowly rotates clockwise.

I like susu's idea for a Galaxy stage. The question, however: WILL we see a Galaxy stage? Methinks that we will not. The only Mario stage officially revealed is Delfino Plaza (Sunshine), and the other stage is Mario Circuit--a Mario Kart stage. Mario's moveset changes reflect only Sunshine (F.L.U.D.D.), not Galaxy. Neither Peach's nor Bowser's movesets show Galaxy influences, either. No Galaxy music, ATs, or items have been revealed thus far. Don't get me wrong--I would love to see a Galaxy stage! I just don't think it's very likely at this point. =/

Not only is this the funnest game since Mario 64, it's got some great potential for a Smash stage. Gravity effects could be added with spectacular locale, flying through space - it wouldn't get much cooler.

BTW I Recommend this game to anyone with a Wii. Mario fans or not, it's ALOT of fun regardless of the 'childish' theme! I feel sick saying it, but you'll love it if you're child or an adult.

To reply to kin3tic-c4jun-3, also, the musical score and graphics are way too good for the Wii.

Anyways, It could be a stage like the graphic one on the first page, and with the gravity of Lylat Cruise. And every while, everyone will be shot to a different random planet with a mid-air (space) fight in the transition between the planets.

i doubt a mario galaxy stage will be implemented considering that the game is very new... would it be cool?: yes ; practical?: no

or possibly one of the reasons that SSBB was put off until February was to be able to add stages from newer games... such as Mario Galaxy?

LOL. That was so cheesy.

Too new? I don't agree with this argument. I don't think that Roy was ever in a game until after Melee and I saw numerous trophies that said Future Release. I highly doubt that "new" is a problem. On a related note...

It says "Gravity" so that probably came from at least one level or item. You can see where I'm going with this.

How 'bout you have a black hole that appears at spots at the bottom where someone might hide that warps them back up to the top?

OMG!

I LOVE THIS IDEA!

As you can no doubt guess, I'm a huge Mario fan. I think since they have like THREE freaking more months to make this game, a Galaxy stage isn't too far-fetched. And then have a Paper Mario stage to round it all out.

Amazing! I got Galaxy and it RULES!
For the gravity issues there are still the Spotlights with their own gravity.
Stage idea: You fight on Bowsers castle.. Suddenly a spotlight appears from the side, you will be pulled sideways then.
That would be pretty cool.. Or just fight on a small planet with own gravity. If you stand upside down you will control inverted like you do in Galaxy.

I've got an idea. You start out fighting on Princess Peach's Castle in normal gravity for about thiryt seconds. Then Bowser's spaceship from the beginning movie appears and takes the castle into space. Now there is low gravity and you can walk on top of Bowsers ship. You fly around the galaxies for a while warping through black holes. Eventually, you land back at the beginning and the cycle starts over again.

This stage I can already see would be very fun to play in. The only problem however, is that the game recently released. Unless they've worked on the stage previously, chances are, it's not getting in.

I adressed this six posts up. They have been developing both games for a while. They know what the levels will look like before the game comes out and even if they didn't there's about three months separating the games.

If Sakurai thinks "Wow Galaxy looks like it could make a fun level" all he has to do is ring Miyamoto and say "Hey you think you could show me a few levels from Galaxy for a stage?" and BADABING he got his stage.

Exactly, this is all Nintendo here, it's not like they're keeping secrets from each other in-house. If they can work in Roy in Melee before his game even came out, I think a little planning on integrating in aspects of one of Wii's tentpole titles wouldn't be far-fetched. *Especially* since it's coming out beforehand. When Smash was originally going to come out, Sunshine would have been the latest game and it wouldn't have seemed so weird that that was the Mario representation. Now, it would seem silly that such an old, out-of-date game is getting the only Mario credit.

Also, I can't help but wonder if the reason we've never seen Mario's spin attack on the Dojo is because they're going to be adding in the Luma popping out of Mario's hat after he does it. (I have no clue if that was at E for All or not.)

To tell the truth, I think they'll make a moving platform or platform-like thing to fly from planet to planet, instead of a spinning planet.

I'd like to see a Luigi's Mansion stage more, but this would be cool. As long as it's impossible to go on the bottom of the stage like you can in galaxy with the planets...That would be a little too much for me...D:

I don't know if this was mentioned...

But what about, if gravity changes throughout the level at random intervals, for example...

The planet rotates AND gravity rotates simultaneously...

Just a thought, Nintendo should really recommend some of these ideas you have posted.
Or vice versa.

An area of Hyrule, a boss and recurring character, two items, and mention of Barnes. The game's only been out for a year. That's simply unreasonable and your fanboyism can't mask that.
OH GOD U JUST RUINED THE GAME FOR ME! I HATE YOU!

lol i dont think a mario galaxy stage would be to hard to make cause they have had stages with low gravity and stages that move in a circular motion, but i must agree would be a sorta quick addition unless they started a while ago ;)!!

Super Mario Galaxy now sits at the #1 spot on popular site Game Rankings.

Similar to MetaCritics, Game Rankings collects reviews from reputable sources and averages them out into a composite score.

Impressively, of the top 10, five of them are based on Nintendo platforms:

Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - 97.8%
Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - 97.6%
Metroid Prime (GC) - 96.3%
Soul Calibur (DC) - 96.3%
The Orange Box (PC) - 96.2%
The Orange Box (360) - 96.1%
Tekken 3 (PS1) - 95.8%
Resident Evil 4 (GC) - 95.8%
Super Mario 64 (N64) - 95.7%
Half-Life 2 (PC) - 95.5%
I guess it's kinda official, for the time being Galaxy is the best game ever.
This is why we need a Mario Galaxy stage

Apologies for the terrible sketch.

My idea's fairly similar to susu's. You'd have a rotating planet with the camera focused on the top part with various structures coming into view to use as platforms. However, my idea incorporates the black holes that you see in the middle of some of the planetoids. Scattered along the playable area of the stage are holes in the planet that, if you fall in and drop too far, will suck you into the black hole in the center and KO you.

Maybe starbits could fall from the sky like in Galaxy, but in Brawl they could be used as throwing objects, or they could do damage so the players would need to avoid them. If this would be in though, I don't think it should be overused.

Let's face it. We love our Mario stages. There are a lot of eligible stages so far, but this one is a very popular choice. I think Galaxy could be a good choice.

I think Galaxy deserves a stage. I believe it would be quite unique that it is a circlular stage, and the only way to die is by being thrown out...as in gravity will not allow one to simply fall out. Seeing how Sakurai is trying to push the "unique stage element" idea (Pictochat?!?), this isn't that unbelievable.

However, I think Galaxy is too new, and there probably won't be a stage. Would be nice though.

Page four, three posts from the bottom. I don't feel like re-quoting myself on the "too new" argument. I'm also not sure if the whole "running around in a complete circle on the stage" thing is going to work (I'm aware that the quotee was not the only one suggesting this). It would end up screwing with your controls and would be overall confusing. Having low gravity would be fine, but allowing you to go around in a complete circle might be a little much.

I'm digging up this thread again. There seems to be a few Mario Galaxy threads popping up here and there.

This was the first. And the best.

Combining Susu's idea with the planet i'd love to make it in.

Well, not specifically this planet, but something from Gusty Garden Galaxy. God how I loved the music.

I had a cool idea for a mario galaxy level. The very top of the observatory where the coloured rings are moving around the tower and it has that space between them. Fight on those moving rings and sometimes off the edge random stars that you used as cannons should appear randomly to save you from the edge.

Imagine a Mario Galaxy stage that is a spherical planet, and you could run around it. Like instead of the standard flat floor stages, imagine it being like the one metroid level in Melee with the big lizard in the background. The differences would be you are in space, there is no lizard-guy, it is perfectly round, and the planet is the center of gravity. This way you could never fall to your death. You have to get smashed up or smashed over so hard that you break out of the planet's gravity and get knocked off the screen.

Forgive me if I'm not painting a vivid picture in your head.

Here is a picture I drew:

Note that the planet is the center of gravity. You can never fall to your death, because you will always land on the planet. You have to be smashed up, or smashed over so hard that you escape the planet's gravitational pull and get knocked off the stage. It would also be cool if there were options to have this stage low gravity or high gravity.
