Melee-Brawl Character Cuts, Reasoning and Debate

Who's going to be cut from Melee, the age old question! It has been confirmed that Melee Characters would get cut, but which ones will they be? I've used logic and made this list:

OUT...FOR SURE!:
Pichu-Lol
Dr.Mario-Lol
Roy-Promotion...lol
Y.Link-Replace by another Zelda Newcomer (if you think that Zelda will not get a Newcomer for Brawl I lol at you!)

Almost Out:
Ness-This guy needs his own category! What I wouldn't be shocked to see in Brawl is semi-clones. If that will bulken up the roster to 45-50 characters, so be it. Besides, most clones have entirely different play styles than their counterparts. I was totally against Ness, but when I read that his PK Fire goes stay is the air, I thought about Luigi. Here is a list:

Lucas' Moves Comparison: PK Thunder-Same as Ness'.
PK Fire-Stays in the air.
Pk Frost-Different than PK Flash (a bit).
PK Magnet-Held in front.
Standar Moves-Different
Smashes-Different (except for one similar >Smash)
Super Jump Punch-Vertical
Fire Ball-Completely horizontal
Luigi's Moves to Mario's:

Luigi Rocket-Completely different
Luigi Tornado-Slides more

I'm not a Ness fanboy, I trolling against him just a while ago! Just wanted to state that Brawl might include semi-clones because Sakurai NEVER stated clones would not return (just like he never stated he wanted more villains).

On the Brink:
Mewtwo-Replaced by Lucario? I was thinking of this long before the (phoney) prophet.
Marth: I can see him being replaced.
Falco: He's not a shoe in with competition with Krystal.

In...for SURE:
Sheik-As much less important than she sounds than the others, she's what made Zelda unique, they would not scrap her!
Luigi-Lol Luigi
C.Falcon-Chuck Norris has a deal to be in OVER 9000 versions of Brawl (in the form of C.Falcon).
Ganondorf-It's the evil guy, you can't scrap him...
Jigglypuff-I don't know why they added her in the first Smash (they had Charizard, Squirtle, Bulbasaur (no I'm not confusing him with Ivysaur) to pick from). But now, it would be even more painful if they removed her, she is a staple of the series!

Trust me, Ness could be a Luigified clone if this was Smash 64, but this is Brawl. If Mario got the F.L.U.D.D., can't you expect Luigi to get his vacuum and do the opposite effect as Mario? I sure can. Luigi's fireballs may change into lightning shots, as he is more closely related to that element nowadays...

Sure Lucas has new A attacks, but his B moves remain all too similar. PK Flash was a horrible move, and deserved a buff so much, and what did Sakurai do? Add a freeze effect, and who knows what else.

This game is supposed to have more areal combat mechanisms, so that explains why Lucas' PK Fire is diagonal when shot in the air.

His PK Thunder looks like it got buffed in range as well.

His PSI Magnet got nerfed probably because there will be a lot more projectiles in this game than there were in Melee. I mean look; at least six newcomers have projectiles now; not to mention new items and pokemon.

I'm happy Ness is out.

I'd be ok if Jiggly didn't get back in.

I didn't want Ice Climbers to come back. :(

Xsyven and Hott will probably destroy me now.

I would add Game and Watch to that list of shoe-ins. The people that don't want him back are just haters, because there's no good reason to take him out.

Other than that, I agree, especially with Marth. He's not as indispensable as some might think. Remember, just like Marth is the face of Fire Emblem, Ness was the face of Mother. Ness was replaced by his newer counterpart, Lucas, so who's to say Ike can't replace Marth?

Of course, that was just food for thought. I fully expect Marth to come back, don't know why though, because I don't particularly like him.

I was going to mention all of that, but he could still be in right? Either way I don't care, Lucas is cooler anyways!

agreed.

WTF about Marth being on the brink? He represents. for japan. the land of the rising sun. without the sun rising, we'd die.

Marth = Shoein (Bad logic. but he definately isnt on the brink of being out.)

Yes, he still has a chance, it, like many things, depends on Sakurai's judgment.

But I agree with you; Lucas is a lot cooler than Ness, and I haven't even played Mother 3. He looks like he fits in so much more.

I'd actually love it if Pichu was in brawl, it would be so funny seeing people losing their minds and screaming "Why!!!?" all over smashboards.

It probably wouldn't be that bad though.....:ohwell:

Marth was not replaced by Ike. Anybody who still thinks that needs to get their heads checked.

Seriously.

I don't care what Marth represents...he is still pretty generic. He has a chance of being in, but not too high. In a matter of fact, I think he has low odds, I just don't feel like being immediately dismissed because my views differ from other's.

I don't think it, I just kind of want it to be true, because Marth isn't very special to me. At least, not as special as anybody from the Fire Emblem games that I've played, which is all of them that came to the US.

I mean, I'm all right with Marth coming back, but not if he's the -only- other FE rep. At least put in Micaiah or something, but I'd hate for Ike to be the only newcomer.

Marth overprioritizes Micaiah by a lot. It wouldn't make any sense to have her in and not him.

Marth may not be special to you, but he is the first lord, the face of Fire Emblem, was in Melee and not a clone, already has two games he's in with a third one coming out in the future, etc.

Just check out Zevox's topic. I don't want to argue it. -_-

No no, I didn't mean Micaiah over Marth. I meant if Marth is in, there should at least be a third rep, meaning Micaiah, to diversify the FE reps.

And I read that topic, and know he's likely, which is why I said even though I don't care for him, he will be in most likely, and I'm all right with it, as long as he's not the only other guy.

I know... Seriously. Lucario might not even make it at all.
Shhhhhhhh! ;)

I, also agree that if Marth was added, Micaiah should be a third rep. The guy from Fire Emblem 4 (His name eludes me at the moment) should not be the third rep either. Unless Nintendo wants to represent Fire Emblem Lords as blue-haired sword wielding characters. Micaiah should definitely added to diversify the Fire Emblem representatives.

Uh, it doesn't matter who "over prioritizes" whom. Michaih is better because she is not a blue haired sword user, who's attacks consist of sword swipes in different directions. I'm not a Marth hater, he's one of my mains (top 5). I just want more original characters in Brawl. If this semi-clone thing is not added, Marth has even lower odds. I read Zevox's topic about similar moves, but what about identical moves? Counter has the SAME NAME as one of Marth's special moves and Erruption severes the same purpose.

1. Marth is original
2. Marth is not a semi-clone
3. Mario and Luigi have the same B, ^B, VB and their ^B's have the same purpose.
So, I guess Luigi can't be in now.
4. Shield Breaker =/= Eruption

Heh, I expected this thread to have a very nice logic, but it lacks of it.

Seems that "Don't judge things only by it's cover" works right here, eh?

They should add mewtwo and lucario i mean there both on high demand. And Marth deserves a spot more tham ike most people would agree on that.
