The ridley x music is sweet too. he was a somewhat easy boss.
Yeah, but Ridley's music in
EVERY game is sweet. Well, except for Metroid. It wasn't necessarily bad, but it's not traditional Ridley music. Which is funny, considering it's the original...
I'm not all that worried about the later bosses, actually. I mean, I know a great strategy for Ridley, SA-X has never been difficult for me (I've beaten it without being touched before, so I can probably do it now), and Omega Metroid is pretty simple...of course, it'll be an OHKO if I get hit by him (he takes out an Energy Tank per slash) so I have to watch out, but there's also a way to do it so you run forward immediately and fire like hell. He keeps backing up into the wall (even though he's already there) so he doesn't have a chance to move.
I'm not entirely worried about the Plant either, although come to think of it, I'll have to alter my strategy for it...usually I say "Screw the spores, fire Missiles until they go away", but with 99 health I think I have to take care of them. After the spores disappear though, I'll be home free.
Security Robot-X might be a little tough...that thing is always annoying. But I don't think I'll get stuck on it for even half as long as Yakuza and Nightmare. Seriously, I'm afraid of Nightmare. Anyone have an idea how many hits it takes to die from Nightmare on a 1% run? My strategy is basically stay under him, fire Missiles until he goes all anti-gravity on you, at which point I fire Charge Beam shots until he's done with phase one. Then the rest I'm not TOO worried about...but I'm sure it'll be more of a problem than I think.
I gave up after trying to defeat the Nightmare on 1% D: I don't know how to dodge his flight patterns. ;_;
I never reached Ridley on 1% in Fusion, how hard is he?
I don't know from personal experience (obviously, as I haven't been past Yakuza yet), but I've seen videos that make it look fairly easy. As long as you infinitely Space Jump in the top left corner, shooting a charged shot when it's charged, you can go through it easily...then again, those could be just uber pros doing it, so I'm not going to necessarily assume it's that easy.
M:ZM-My best score was 10% hard 0:58
Also, I love how Metroid is unique in the way that a lower percent indicates that you've performed better. It's like, Hey, we're going to give you all these weapons and power-ups and we're like, "Nah, WE DON'T NEED IT CAUSE SAMUS IS TOO BEASTLY!". You can't beat the game without completing a certain objective first. Metroid was like, yeah, screw the rules, I'll find my own path!
Yeah, Metroid really did say "SCREW THE RULES!" with things like backtracking, a female protagonist, having less items being better (depending on how extreme...60% as opposed to 100% doesn't really fit that description)...yeah, Metroid dared to be different.
...
I think I beat Nightmare once on 1%... then I tried speedboosting outside, only for me to not activate the speed boost soon enough and getting killed by the 'bat-tank-thing'.
*shudder* Oh my God...I am SO sorry. I cannot imagine what would happen if that happened to me. Well, actually, I sorta can...that's what it's going to be like if I beat Yakuza and then on my way to the freakin' Save Station I get killed by a Ki Hunter. That'll probably happen to me, actually.
I'm laughing about it while I can, because I'll be ripping my head off of my neck when it actually does happen.
when it actually does happen.
See how pessimistic I am?
EDIT: YES!!! And no.
I beat Yakuza, finally, sometime last night! Then in less that fifteen minutes (well, in time that the game recorded; I'm not going to pretend I didn't die at all) I got to the next Save Station (without dying! Yes!), got through the SA-X chase without too much difficulty (only died once because of a stupid mistake), got through Sector 2, beating the Plant boss. It was a little difficult at first, but once I got the rhythm of Charge Beam, fire, Charge Beam, Fire, duck, keep ducking, then repeat down, it was easy. Only took me about 4 tries to beat him. Then I got to the Navigation Room without too much difficulty, and...wait a minute, Nightmare already!?
Seriously, I did
not remember him being so soon afterwards. It was rather disappointing, since I was happy to not be stuck in one place anymore.
So I headed on to Sector 5 and reached Nightmare. I'm currently stuck on him. I had to totally flip my strategy, but it's not actually that bad until his flying. I CANNOT figure out what his pattern is; hell, I don't even think he has one. I'll Space Jump over him (after hanging on the ladder-thing) onto the right side. Then, he usually goes up a little bit, then off-screen to the right, which gives me time to jump. I Space Jump in a circle, dodging him until he settles again, and then...well, you know, I fire away and repeat the whole thing. But sometimes it's like he homes in on you, and even with full energy it takes all of two times getting touched by him to die. Which means even if you get through phases one and two without getting hit AT ALL, you will still only have one chance to mess up with his flying.
*sigh*...if anyone has any strategies for Nightmare at all, I'd be glad to hear them.
