Missing attacks

Hello, im new to the forum, this is my first post.

Originally I wanted nothing to do with brawl but my parents got it for my brother and I as a gift. I helped my brother unlock locario and I fell in love with him. Ive been lurking the forums for about a week now, just reading and getting used to the terminology. From my perspective SSB is extremely complex. I played melee a couple times before spamming up B with Kirby, but apart from that, I never played SSB or even owned a GameCube.

I guess my only question about Lucario is, why do I miss a lot when I try to attack? I epically FAIL at cracking the smash balls, I miss my F-air atttacks, and I have a very hard time smashing with the nunchuck. Most of the attempted smashes turn into normal attacks and its harder to finally KO the guy. Using the wiimote alone will solve the last problem, but then its hard to do tilts and it really hurts my left thumb.

What am doing wrong?

Try using a gamecube controller if possible and see if you like it. Your question is kinda vague, how exactly are you missing? Like is he too slow or is his range not far enough? I guess the only thing I can answer is that f-air probably isn't the best move to crack open a smashball since it is fairly weak. With Lucario I think you should wait for your opponent to hit it first and then steal it; I guess any air move will work.

Well by "missing" I mean I try to attack it, even on the ground, and they dont connect even when Im right there next to it. I dont know if im going to really be a Gung-Ho Smasher enough to buy a GC controller, but does that help with smashes and tilts? I read something about hit boxes, people say lucario has disjointed ones. What does that mean?

All you can really do is practice to learn the timing of how your attacks are excecuted as well as the range on them.

You may need practice with the game in general. Try playing as Marth for a bit, and see try and hit with every land and aerial attack you attempt. This should be easier than hitting with Lucario, since he has a huge sword. After you get that down, try playing using Lucario's better range moves (forward B, forward smash, down air, etc.). When you can hit with those every time, integrate the short-range moves into your game (neutral air, for example).

Aerials are harder to hit with than ground-attacks, so if you're having trouble with those, try playing some games using ONLY aerials. That helped me a lot.

Lucario has unusual hitboxes for most of his moves. Go to training mode and use every move possible on a standing character. Once you learn the hitboxes, start practicing the moves on actual people. You'll need to test stuff out before you'll learn what to do in a match. :)

I dont think I need to make a whole new thread for this stuff, so ill just post my questions here. Ive been training against lv9 CPUs, is that a good way to gain experience? Anyways, one on one against most characters is going ok. The exceptions being the smaller, faster guys like pikachu. I cant grab, I cant smash and I cant BAS. D-air just gets me Thunder-ed. Can someone help me on what to do against them?
I tried going against 2 random lv 9s and I get juggled in the air, how do I escape that?

I also have a question about this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYOVscp-Ecw

How did the guy just rush into the ariels? Is that SHFFL or something? Is it possible to do with the nunchuck?

Thanks guys for all of your help!
