I was shocked and filled with joy seeing Shiek again. I'll list two new moves she got

Side B- Zelda Grenade? Shoots some kind of grenade. Interesting another projectile. I really like that!

Down B- Ninjitsu Flip. Jump- Does a very acrobatic jump. Gives her an extra jump that can damage people. Guess since sakurai removed the chain this jump is suppose to make up for it and actually I like this! :)

Man I loved Shiek in brawl but she was so weak and had such a crummy recovery. Now I'm so ready to use her! I'm so thrilled actually! :)

Share your thought on sheiks new improvements? :)

I was a little underwhelmed by her character model. I was hoping for a cool redesign.

Her new bombs and jump attack certainly look good. My brother-in-law mains Sheik which means her new moves are going to be a huge pain for me.

I'll agree with the above poster I thought her character model was a little plain, but I'm super happy to see her again and for all speculation over Zelda's Down-b to be finished. Sheik is officially a Smash staple now, her own full-fledged character. She made the transition to Brawl and no this.

Her new moves look really interesting. Her Down-b wasn't showcased very well but it looks great.

her down b reminds me of zero suits current down b :/ but the grenades are far more welcome than the chain which had near zero purpose outside of recovery. wow now she has TWO projectiles assuming needles are still in which is a huge thing

So her down b is basically what Z-Samus had in Brawl? I don't know if I like that but the grenades are a nice addition. Maybe her chain will be moved to the grab.

Kinda already posted this but oh well~ I didn't think a sheik forum would be opened up so quickly!
A rapid jab with a finisher

Not really exciting about this one unless you have full control of when to finish. Due to the obvious knock back on the finisher it might be useful as a low percentage combo starter but if you CAN'T decide when to end it then Sheik wall of jabs will be gone and if this game anything like brawl then prepared to get dolphin slash out of the 'finisher' every time.

Side B being replaced with burst grenade

HMMM, well no one really used the chain, personally I found it fantastic in brawl only to help zone people out, help land back onto the stage(Sheik new down B is amazing for this now) and for extreme punishment if you can read your opponent correctly but overall not the best tool. The few short clips of side B didn't really impress me though, Sheik clearly goes into a fairly long animation when she uses her side B and once more she looks rooted until at least the pin is pulled. The clips also didn't demonstrate any sort of control of where you can throw the grenade. I'm clearly assuming here but this might be a wonderful medium risk range combo starter and shield pressure due to the short cool down and range but right now we know just too little

Down B being replaced with bouncing fish

OMG, YES! This help sheik so ****ing much! One of Sheik main problems was recovery and getting juggle this help her so ****ing much! I don't care that the knock back looks absolutely horizontal making it only good for.... =3 For destroying recoveries...mahahaa. What does worry me is the big leap back for sheik when she does hit someone. I can see people are going to try to body block us if we try to Down B recover too close to them. I absolutely can't wait to learn more about this move.

I'm excited for Shiek as well. She was my main secondary in melee and I had a lot of fun playing her in brawl and now she is my secondary again in PM. I'm sure her new tools are buffs and with her not being able to switch to Zelda they won't pull that shiek is has weak knockback because Zelda is strong BS. Shiek should stand very tall in battle on her own in this one.

Bombs means I'll be playing around with port blasting a lot hopefully.

Also hope chain is still there for recovery, if only because of my name.

Didn't quite catch the details of her butterfly flop or whatever it was called.

Thanks for the option 'Would have preferred Impa' cause I do.

Honestly, the new moves feel uninspired to me. Down B seems like Zero Suit Samus's Down B, and the bombs...? Just what the hell are they supposed to be? At the very least I would've opted for the Deku Nuts. Cause that's one of the few things Sheik actually did.

Impa's magical attacks and barrier would've made for a far better revamped Sheik playstyle... Ugh.

Are the grenades not a direct Snake port?
From what I can gather, I think you can delay the bomb explosion. Sakurai specifically it exploded when you "pulled the string, so I'm assuming this is going to an amazing set-up tool/tech punish.
What would be even more amazing is if you could do other moves before you detonate it. Imagine the mind games knowing you're being pressured by normals but a grenade could go off anytime.

It appears to be a terrible except-for-edgeguard move to me, atm, which is very saddening.

Honestly, it looks to me like they act like the chain, but after you release B they explode (you can even see a string attached to them during the animation)

Bouncing Fish looked like she bounces off opponents when she hits them, which may be interesting. Her grenades are alright, but Diddy has a point: Deku nuts would make more sense.

The grenade does indeed resemble the chain. She whips it around and it looks like it causes flinching before exploding. All in all, I see it as a (much needed) buff to her chain.

The flip is, of course, a much needed buff to her recovery.

Have we seen if Bouncing Fish puts her into helpless state, or is it like Zamus down special?

Looking at the footage from the direct, it doesn't seem like Sheik went into helpless state after using the move.

Actually I can tell quite well that Sheik was not made helpless when she leapt with Bouncing Fish, in EITHER of the two seen usages of it. still, if she can't use it again, or a foe just happens to jump in the way on purpose, then this might be an easily countered recovery move. (in the footage, Sheik leaps off of Pit when she strikes him, which mean if set up right, this recovery buff might act in the other's favor) though that might not be the case if it acts something like Captain Falcon's up-B where he can use it again if it hits.

I'd assume that if opponents jumping in the way is actually a concern, then Sheik would just use it while far from the ledge, then the double jump, then Vanish.

You know, I never took Sheik as a ninja...She is more like a monk in my opinion. Greninja on the other hand, is a legit ninja (no offense to Sheik :p)
But I'm still really happy that Sheik is back, and as her own char. She will be one of my top 3 mains (Greninja, Sheik, and I'm thinking either Lil Mac or Link...or an unrevealed character )

She could.
Ok, thanks. see, I haven't been able to play Brawl for a while (my Wii screwed up so my awesome dad is going to do something to fix it when he can), so I can't remember every specific of the characters in that game.

I don't really "main" any characters, due to being a more casual gamer, but I will say the new and improved Sheik is definitely going to be one I play often in Casual Online (known to the general public as "For Fun" mode in online play), or just in normal matches against the CPU. though if I have to choose one character you'll easily be able to tell is me, it'll be Pikachu. I actually main Pichu in Melee (VOL-TEKKA!!!!!!!!!!/Volt Tackle as fully charged side B), believe it or not.

As for Sheik's "class".....Well, she's definitely not a stereotype by any means. (basically not something you most often think of when Ninja come to mind) I've always wanted to play Sheik after I saw "him" in Ocarina of Time. of course after Brawl I've always wanted to see her use that freaking blade on her hip........but overall Sheik has always been a Ninja. Greninja's more of a stereotypical Ninja though, so he's easier to tell it's actually ninjutsu, so one can see that.

Though I thought Monks were supposed to be bald :) (joking)

This thread has survived this long without a debate on Sheik's "gender"?!
Personally, I say Sheik's a guy. Especially now that (s)he's separate from Zelda.

No. Sheik clearly tosses the bombs out with her chain/string attached, which she uses to then yank out the pin when at a safe distance. admittedly it's not fast, but it is cool and kinda flashy.

At least the move can air stall (As seen in her into in the bowser scene) Maybe allowing her to use it to perhaps stagger her recovery/add some offense to her recovery.

I predict the nades will be a huge boon to Shiek's camp game and pressure. Hopefully just cause she's getting nades doesn't mean Snake isn't coming back.

Snake isn't coming back, and Pac-man isn't joining the battle. the third party characters we have are all we're getting, end of story.
For the record, the only reason I'm here is because I haven't found a suiting size of Skyscraper yet.

I do not assume. 3rd Party characters are not well liked by Sakurai. Plus from what I've heard, Snake was only in Brawl because his creator was friends with Sakurai and asked for him to be put in.

Still haven't found the proper Skyscraper yet.

Except that's all assumption. Unless you have a source that says Sakurai doesn't like 3rd parties.

.............Do you seriously need an explanation on what Smash is REALLY about? Smash is for a celebration of NINTENDO's All-Stars, not Sony's, or Microsoft's, or SEGA's, or Konami's, or Namco's, NINTENDO. Third Parties don't belong. anyone else notice how Super Smash Brothers for Nintendo 64 only had twelve NINTENDO characters? or how Melee had so much work put into being the greatest celebration of NINTENDO's all-stars? or how Brawl only had TWO third party characters, when if Smash is supposed to be about EVERY GAME EVER it would've have so many more?

When did everybody suddenly start thinking that Sakurai was about NOTHING BUT FANSERVICE when he's just working on NINTENDO's Crossover Fighting game? When was it that Solid Snake was a Nintendo All-star? Sonic is fine, he works, he's been with Nintendo for a while. Mega Man has had a game on ALMOST EVERY Nintendo Console so far. the NES, the SNES, the Gameboy, the Gameboy Color, the GBA, the N64, the GameCube, and the DS. Mega Man is almost a Nintendo character himself. besides, Sakurai kept to Mega Man's NES look on purpose AND in the Developer Direct he states "Maintaining his NES look was a top priority. I'm not gonna have just ANYBODY participate from other companies." and yes that's a direct quote, look it up.

Overall point: Sakurai has stated that he isn't going to just let thrid parties in for no very good reason. Mega Man has appeared in at least one game on so many Nintendo consoles it's beyond "not even funny". his direct quote is "I'm not going to have just anybody participate from other companies." Overall, I have the proof that Sakurai doesn't want 3rd parties taking over Smash. it's HIS Nintendo All-Stars fighting game, and he isn't going to let a Sony mascot on unless they have a good reason to be there. for Snake, he got in because Sakurai has a friend who works on Metal Gear Solid who wanted Snake in Smash.

Thinking back over it I realize Snake's creator might ask Sakurai to bring him back in the new Smash, so Snake isn't 100% gone. however I do not see him returning.

and please don't bring up Pac-Man. look, the yellow circle character is fine, but I am honestly sick of Pac-Man discussions and Ridley discussions. nothing against either character, but their fanbases are so annoying beyond annoying and I'm sick of Ridley being brought up in EVERYTHING that relates to Metroid and Smash.

As well as sooooooo many people demanding Pac-Man........I wish more people would request first-party characters like the western Armadillo Dillon, or, say, Bandana Dee from Kirby, or maybe even a Pokemon or two.

Your points are completely valid, and I totally agree on Pac-Man. But I think Snake has made enough key appearances with Nintendo to not be too crazy of a third party.
