Just looking for some counter-tips from those who know it best. I'm maining Sheik, occasionally Diddy and my friend is just tromping me with his Jigglypuff. I wouldn't even consider it his main, he's just throwing out the nairs and Jigglypunches like mad.

I know it's my error for not knowing how to overcome this, but my shorthops always eat a foot to the face if I try and approach with them. I can't effectively grab him out of a shield, and he's constantly in the air out of my ftilts and banana peels. He doesn't even need to land the Rest on me, I just get completely shut out.

So what's the trick? How do you beat a Jigglypuff's aggressive nair and the punch?

It's interesting that a lot of Sheiks have trouble with Puff since I'm terrible at fighting Sheiks.

For Sheik: A lot of Puffs will try to approach at head-level, but using Sheik's ftilt, up tilt, or up smash can fend them off. Pound is very punishable from behind. In general don't go in the air.

Can't help you with Diddy, sorry.

Diddy is sort of weird because many of Diddy's usual tools (sideB, nair) get beaten or crossed by Jiggs' nair, but Diddy's aerials seem to outrange Jiggs in general, so really good spacing (which Diddy is pretty good at) is probably key. They can also gimp by either beating sideB with nair, or just by flying out and getting hit by the sideB to eat it and drag you down at the same time. Jiggs is in the air constantly so throwing bananas at them without a plan doesn't work well. His grabs and good ground mixups are likely essential. I would also test out OoS fsmash for when Jiggs hits your shield from the air and tries to get behind you, since fsmash has the hitbox behind Diddy.

Personally I'm leaning towards saying Jiggs might have a slight advantage, but maybe I'm just not fighting the right monkeys.

I wrote a bit about Sheik over here. Overall I think a smart and patient Sheik has the advantage over Jiggs, but they do really have to be careful.

I'm the Jiggs referred to in OP's post. If countering my own Jiggly with Sheik, I'd definitely use ftilts since my approach is to shorthop nair at head-level as ZeroJanitor said. drakeirving's link about Sheik is also accurate since the needles definitely are an issue for Jiggs. As for Diddy, I'd try to keep me to the ground more, since your precision with the bananas is good and you can really rack up the damage on me with your combos after the banana trip. I'm nowhere close to tromping you with Jiggly, the matches are quite close most of the time :) Definitely fun though. This thread is informative even for me, I'll have to try using more ducks under the needles like drakeirving said in the link. Is Jiggly's dtilt viable to counter ground approaches?

Dtilt has good knockback but is really slow to come out and pull back. It might help, but Sheik is really fast so depending on prediction/reaction time it might not beat a grab. I don't know if it crosses up Sheik's dash attack either.

It feels like Jiggly somehow outdoes Sheik. I was in FG earlier just goofing with the puff (some pretence to this, I was rest punishing my friend on the bus like mad earlier going to a match, and there were four matches in a row where I won from double rest punishes. He'd never seen rest before. It was beautiful.) and I knocked them around like no other, and then finished them with a rest punish.

Like I said in my linked post, I think it's easy to come to that conclusion if you only fight aggressive Sheiks that easily let themselves get punished, and that goes for any matchup in general. If people play a character that you can punish, and they constantly let you punish them, even if the matchup would otherwise be in their favor you might say you win out. I don't think this should factor into determining matchup difficulty. It's like saying Mac is easy because people let you toss them off the edge and gimp them.
