Recently mentioned in this thread, Wario can take advantage of this "new wavedash" quite well (probably 2nd only to Snake and maybe Sheik).

To perform it, do a dash attack with C-Stick down and then quickly hit the control stick Up+Z (or Up+A if you prefer) to perform the Up-Smash. The result is a fast sliding Usmash. Somehow the Usmash cancels the dash attack animation but maintains the sliding momentum (seems to almost give more really).

This is GREAT news for Wario who is normally quite slow on the ground and suffers against opponents with superior aerial range. Perhaps we can use this to slide through Marth's "wall of Fair." I for one am perfecting the technique and look forward to finding its best applications.

UPDATE:
Here's an application of the "New Wavedash" which I prefer to call Dash Attack Canceled Usmash (DACUsmash) or just sliding Usmash since these names are more descriptive. I often use this combo in real matches, but I just demonstrated it vs. a CPU since I don't have anyone to play with right now:

Thanks so much, I saw a youtube video with clips of a bunch of characters doing this, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. It's a pretty good technique to know, the only thing I don't like about it is that you have to do an up smash out of it? Reguardless, very cool.

Awesome thx for the info, I've implemented this strategy into my game and it has worked wonders, now I just need to find a way to do this move consistently. Nevertheless thanks for the info once more.

Wait a tick, you mean to tell me this is just like Snake's mortar slide?

**** Wario just got 10x cooler.

I cannot seem to get this to work right, maybe I am misinformed. I am slamming the directinal stick forward then slaming down on the Down C-stick then a fast upA. Tried with both upA and upCst.

You have to actually hit them with the dash attack. That's the only requirement.

EDIT: Unless you use the below method.

Alright the problem I am having is I can get myself to do it like once out of every 20 tries, and no particular way works better for me. I can sometimes get it with the Z button A and or C stick as the finisher of the combo.

Is there and trick you guys are using to know the timing?

Behind you, right now.
Couldn't this also work by doing a quarter circle with the c-stick? If you c-stick forward you will dash attack; could you not rotate the stick up really quickly and input the commands one after the other?

There's a short amount of time between when you initiate the dash attack and when wario is on the ground doing the attack. During this time is when you input the up smash. It's fairly quick, almost instantly at the same time, but up smash comes slightly after the dash attack. Also, your distance traveled will be based on when you input the up smash, the sooner in the time frame the further you'll go.

The c-stick is a little tricky in brawl. You have to let the c-stick return to the neutral position before you can do another attack with it. In the time it takes for the c-stick to return to the neutral position, the window to input the up smash is already passed.

This is a pretty useful technique, but I can only make it work when the dash attack hit an opponent. Is it just me or is the timing different when the dash attack doesn't hit?

One more question guys, does this tactic override the usefulness of B sticking? I have not been using B sticking at all but have been told by allot of the players around here that it is the way to go.

B-sticking is really useless for Wario IMO

It's best to keep c-stick for his aerials, you don't wanna lose any of his great aerial maneuverability

Turn tap jump off.
I found that when I took off the tap jump from my controls it was difficult to BUp out of shield because it would require pressing X/Y for jump as well, it was rather hard to adapt to.

That 3God combo.. is amazing =D

hell yea bro, hell yea. Wow this is so cool, when you got it down, it's just natural. Is there any risk of tripping when doing the Sliding Up-Smash?
This is like the dream tech for Wario, more mind game to set up your F-Smash.

i had previously only been able to pull this off, once in like one in 15 to 20 tries, it was really pissing me off, after like 1 hour of practice. then, i changed my controller to remove tap jump, thats it, and i did the wavesmash or w/e 5 or 6 times in a row. if your having any trouble with this technique, for me specifically i ran around the stage dash grabbing like an idiot whenever i messed up, remove tap jump, it works wonders.

abit_rusty said it, i guess i missed his post, its seriously 100 times easier, no exaggeration look below.

proof: (1/20)*x=5 or 6 -> x=100 or 120

It's been coined as Boost Smashing nowadays. New wavedash is a horrible name for it considering it really should be wave smashing if anything.

ive been reading smash forums for a while, and GOD i love wario, i did some testing and wanted to let some of you guys know some of the things i figured out for myself.( i did get the boost smash from 3god /salute)
1) tap jump makes no dif, reason being because when you hit your c stick down you wont be able to jump out there fore u can hit ur analog up and press Z without jumping.
u can up smash at anytime,as long as u get it in frames it wil do a smash but it might b a small boost and not a long one
2)if you decide that my way is better and u keep tap jump on, change ur Z button to do smash attacks, this way when u perform ur boost smash u wont run and grab instead it will do the up smash almost all the time, i tried with tap jump off and i still grabbed while i tried to booost smash(tap jump is amazing, its a shame to lose it because u can really screw with ur opponents using C stick and DI)
3) ive tried c sitck down and hitting A, its pretty hard almost never got it off
4)this combo can be used to get to ur opponent quickly, BUT if your opponent is smart he would b pressing A or some attack when hes expecting u to come at him, warios boost smash can be stopped a majority of the times when ur opponent is not being combod, and when they are being comboed like 3gods vid then its good,
5) 3god that combo vid u put up is amazing but if u time everythin correctly the max dmg on it is totaled to 48%

surely there are a lot more combos to be seen with boost smashing , it will just take time for peopel to find them.

Im new to using Wario, but i figured i should try to learn the technique obviously if i want to have a decent wario. But i cant seem to figure out the timing i guess. I tried not having everyone default and Dash + Down/Up on the C-stick+Z almost slamming everything. Actually did it once, just spamming it, but couldnt ever do it again. Tried turning Tap Jump Off and it didnt help me any, still running and trying to grab. Any help / advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

alrite try this, since i was a lil confused by what u said in there when u were spamming everythin think of it like this and do these following things
1) change Z to do A attacks aka attacks
2)change your Y to do grabs, this is my own personal because i jump with X and taps not Y and never had any use for Y
3)now you dash to a direction, right in this case
4)while ur holding right on your analog use c-stick down
5)once u have pressed c-stick down wait like .2sec mentally i kno its weird but try to sound it in your head, boomboomboom(its liek a button sequence tap tap tap if you press everythin at same time it wont work its step by step u have to hear it.)--AFTER that .2 sec u slide ur analog from the right position to and upward motion
6)RIGHT AS it hits the top of its groove u hit Z ((now here is why i said Z, after cstick down its pretty hard to move your thumb back to hit A and c-stick down and up is quite difficult too for how the game intakes its C comands.)) and now you should have completed the sliding upsmash, you can also hold Z while sliding to charge it up more but it will tkae some timing
7) last thing is since you changed Y and Z you wil have to get used ot the control schemes but my way you will always slide if you keep in your head taptaptap

feel free to reply i'd b happy to help in further detail
