Most of the grievances regarding Sonic tend to deal with one of the following:
  • Sonic's moveset sucks and he's just a ball for 50% of it because of Sonic getting into Brawl at the last minute and the role of inertia in Smash's development (this is the most common one by far);
  • He doesn't have any of his supporting cast;
  • There's only one original remix for the entire franchise; and,
  • Windy Hill is an outdated promotional choice and is too similar to Green Hill.
That’s fair, although a third party franchise having more than one playable character is still a rarity. If you exclude echoes, I think only Final Fantasy has more than one character. I do find his moveset to be kind of boring though. His down special and forward special are too similar visually even if they function differently mechanically.

I wonder if she’d keep the Chibi look of her in game model or if they’d try to make her more realistically proportioned like her official artwork? The painterly look of her stage would be awesome for Smash. Same goes for the HD-2D look of a potential Octopath stage.
I'd be more inclined to think the official artwork (stuff like the European box art, for example). Curious what they'd do for her Final Smash though.
  • The Special moves from BD don't quite hit the "OMG so cool" factor a Final Smash should have.
  • The Summons are a decent choice (Susano-o in particular), but feel a bit disjointed.
  • Maybe make something up where she calls in Tiz, Edea and Ringabel in? The Bravely Default equivalent of an All-Out Attack or something?

Sonic is a ball in his Own games 50% of the time! I still dont get it!
Also they did remove two ball attacks That being dash and down smash and what happend they are now generic kicks (which especially suck fordash attack cause in smash 4 it was a rolling kick which was a cool combination)

The only ball move thats actually redundant is side special which obviously should be boost ButThats about it!
Also In smash ultimate sonic only has the following ball moves:

Neutral Air: Which should be kept 100%
Side and down B: Yeah that should be only one
Neutral B: Which should be kept 100%
His Jumping Animations: Which should be 100% kept
Up Smash: Which is his only remaining ball smash maybe make it a kick and give us the ball spin down smash back?

And if im not wrong that it! Again his dash attack should go back to his smash 4 version and we should get the Homing attack Dash (like the move sonic does when theres no enemy in fornt of him) as a forward aerial perhaps!

Again SONIC ATTACKS AS A BALL! And thats a fact!

I think his alts are a much worse problem than his moveset just give him some outfits/ Versions he had in diffrent sonic games?

I think all they really need to do is give Sonic a new forward special. The down and neutral specials are fine and are iconically Sonic. The forward special is too similar to his down special visually so something else more distinct would be cool.

My personal preference for how they make characters’ movesets that span multiple games is to make an amalgamation that feels cohesive rather than focusing too much on one specific game. If a character does something in multiple games, I’d prioritize that over anything they did as a one-off thing even if it’s new. Otherwise you end up with things like FLUDD that feel dated over time (at least to me, it’s cool if you feel otherwise). I still think Link should have kept his hookshot even though he didn’t use it in BotW because it was something that made Link stand out from the rest of the cast. Replacing it with a standard grab made him less interesting to me.

Spoilers! Geez, now I know he dies in the middle of the story. :4pacman:
Lol pretty much. I’m actually kind of surprised how much Smash spoils things. I remember there being a pretty big spoiler in Smash 4 about one of the mechon characters. They also spoiled Fiora and the Black Knight’s identity from Fire Emblem. Thankfully, I had already beaten the games by then.

Matthew doesn't die in the DLC story where he's the main protagonist, though he is dead by the main story because that takes place 1000 years later

To be clear, I was kidding. I've never played the DLC so I have no idea if he dies or not. It's just that Xenoblade Chronicles 2's Vandham is basically Xenoblade's version of Leomon. lol

Yeah I know, hence the lol. Smash does tend to spoil a lot though, especially with Xenoblade for some reason.

Mario just needs to drop FLUDD for good. That dude had long overstayed his welcome.

It’s not even that good of a move. :tired:
I'd change Mario's down special to the Hammer, and the side special to the leaping dive from the 3D Mario games.

The idea I had in mind was being able to footstool off opponents if it connects (basically using the opponent as a platform).

I know The Pokémon Company can be a little stingy with licensing agreements, but can the next Mario Kart game have functionality with the PKMN amiibo to bring a Pokémon-themed costume for the Mii? (Even if it's generic as heck)

Or even Pokémon textures for an hypothetical Yoshi's Woolly World remaster.

If Mario Party gets a stage in the next Smash game, how would you guys feel if the stage was Mario's Rainbow Castle, with the main gimmick being the top of the castle switching between Toad and Impostor Bowser? There could also be a handful of spaces indicated by projections of them.

Misread this as you wanting Pikmin Amiibo to give you Pokémon costumes like it was some sort of workaround with the licensing agreements...

now that’s not quite a fair comparison. it was actually sad when leomon died. the first two times anyway

Do you think Xenoblade will be another "core pillar" series for Nintendo now, like Mario, Zelda, AC, Splatoon, Pikmin, and Metroid?
Probably as much as Kirby or Fire Emblem. Like Xenoblade is the series that most benefited from the Switch(with Metroid, Kirby and Pikmin also benefiting alot), but I wouldn't say it's anywhere near as "core pillar" as Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing or Splatoon.

  • Decent odds for a pure fanservice pick tho he'd probably have to compete with other "fanservice" first-parties like Dee or Waluigi. If we believe that Spring 2022 is the project plan date the NSO might probably have happened too late
I mean I don't think the NSO release really matters too much considering everything Isaac/Golden Sun got in Ultimate felt like an acknowledgment of doing well on the Ballot. Might not have been, but he literally went from having two music tracks in Smash 4 and nothing else to suddenly having a Mii Costume and the highest number of Spirits of any franchise not already playable, plus the return of his Assist Trophy and it being given new attacks as well.

Here’s something I’ve been wondering: since the Switch 2 is confirmed to be backwards compatible, do you think that means our mods for Ultimate will be able to carry over to the new console? My brother and I have made mods ourselves but we were never too knowledgeable on the technical side of things. Do you think something like this is possible or would we have to start from the beginning again?

Sure, but Kirby and FE are in the same situation that Pokemon is in, being owned by Hal and IS respectively. If Monolithsoft is fully Nintendo owned, then Xenoblade doesn't have that barrier of entry for marketing or promotion.

That would depend on the file structure of Switch 2-formatted SD cards.

And if you can even mod the thing in the first place.

That’s one reason to keep my original Switch around if not. I’m assuming the community will eventually be able to figure out how to mod the Switch 2, even if that means having to start over with the mods themselves. We’ll see what happens though. Modding would definitely make me feel less bad about losing my favorite characters because there’s always the potential of them being modded back in at some point.

asking for Mario party and NOT wanting pirate land or horror land.

I've been watching some episodes of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, then I remember this pic:

then I'm reminded of this character:

Even though I don't think Bahn has a high chance of getting in Smash, he'd be one of the coolest characters if he did.

Assuming they work directly with the game, I'd say yes, but you have to figure out how to jailbreak the Switch 2 first.

Jojo started off as a manga right? So I think that probably means we shouldn’t expect a character in Smash unless there’s some kind of drastic shift in direction. There are quite a few cool Jojo mods in Ultimate though. Some of them figured out a way to make something like Arsene that follows the movements of the character, though it’s all just visual.
