No Vs. Data Record?

I've been playing Brawl for some time now, and it looks like they removed the "Versus Data" feature (how many times player XXXX KO'd player YYYY). All I could find is the same data but for characters, not individual names. My friends and I loved that feature... I was hoping it was an unlockable, but it's gone now

I don't understand why they removed one of the best non-gameplay features of Melee. ):

What's the point in even having names if this is out? Is it just used to save your controller configuration?

Oh, speaking of which.... can you save custom match settings on Brawl? Or do you always have to set it up starting from the default each time you power on the game?
