Nyana said:Smash Balls are just items. Items with flashy cut-scenes. I don't really see a good reason to turn them on. It's just like having the hammer in Melee IMO. I know everyone has said this before but it's true, Items = Luck.
And of course it takes skill to use and involves strategy, but are you saying other items don't take skill to use? All Items take skill to use.

The opponents don't DI in that video but just look at those combos. You can't just pick up items and start doing combos like that and have no skill whatsoever. Just because you can do all of that stuff with items does not mean they should be turned on though. Smash Balls are just powerful items. If you're going to turn them on then why not turn Dragoon on too? You obtain it almost by the same method and it's similar to Snake's Final Smash. It would basically be a 2nd Final Smash for everyone and it would really help out those who had bad Final Smashes from the start. Then the game will turn into 'camp for Smash balls and Dragoon'. Now do you really want that? I don't.
As a competitive player I can say that I do not approve of items in competitive play. When I play a match, I want as little luck as possible involved. I don't want to win a match because I got a Smash Ball in a crucial moment. I want to win because I outsmarted and/or outplayed my opponent using nothing but my own skill. And vice versa, I definitely don't want to lose because a Smash Ball appeared above the opponent when I was off the stage.
This is such a good post and pretty much sums up why threads like this should stop being made.Nyana said:Maybe you didn't read my post. What do you think about what I said about the Dragoon parts? It would only seem fair to turn those on along with Smash Balls since it would provide everyone with a 1HKO alongside their Final Smash whether it be good or bad. My point still stand though. It doesn't matter where on the stage the Smash Balls appear. I guess you don't see how this could happen but eventually every match would just be camping for a Smash Ball. Then people would start picking characters based on how good their Final Smash is. Donkey Kong or ZSS wouldn't stand a chance in tournament. Samus could jump up and charge shot the Smash Ball from anywhere. The Smash Ball is by far the most unfair and unbalancing item.
Final Smash supposedly always appears in the same place according to you guys.
You hit it a few times and it's yours. It can be taken from you if you receive enough damage while holding it. Some characters have easy to pull of 1HKO Finals Smashes while others don't. Smash Balls unbalance the game even more than having every other item on.
Dragoon parts appear wherever. You have to collect all 3 of the parts to pull off the move. You can hit the opponents to take away his/her parts. EVERY CHARACTER can do it. There's always a chance you could miss. Dragoon parts are much more balanced than Smash Balls.
I'm still against items though.
Dragoon >>>> Smash Ball.
